Carrot Question

Why don't all the carrots in a bag taste the same? They're from the same crop and genetically identical (I think), yet some are sweet with good texture and others are sort of bitter and not so good texture.

  • The rabbits pee on the sweet ones.

    • I guess Elmer Fudd would be responsible for the bitter ones.

  • If they are not the right age, or have been exposed to too much light, they can taste bitter. They tend to taste better if they are about a consistant orange color.

And rabbits would LOVE the greens, at the very least, I am not sure if they DO eat the carrots themselves in gardens. It would be harder for a rabbit to do. They would either have to carefully pull by the stem, or dig. They could do either, but WOULD they? But farms would keep rabbits away. Just saying...

  • Steve - of course rabbits eat carrots, haven't you ever seen Bugs Bunny?

    • I guess they're shy also, etc.... I haven't met one that talked either.

NAW, I KNOW they eat carrot GREENS. HECK, they eat a LOT of greens. I just don't know about the ROOTS in the wild. Oh well, I was just trying to be funny, ignore that part.
