I can't get into Skype which is usually automatically always on - even tried rebooting and sign out/sign in.

Anyone else have this problem?

  • This is the second post about this.

Just go to goolge latest News and see this:

  • Yup, same problem for me today. I haven't tried to close it and reopen it to see if that would help, or tried anything else for that matter, but it does seem to be down.

Edit: hadn't seen Mike's post when I posted this. Looks like it's down for everyone then.

    • It's the upgrade that's causing the problem.

My wife lives on Skype and what a pain it was...

Luckily she got it figured and now it works fine. It took her 3 hours of messing around with everything under the sun to get it working again.
Don't ask me how she did it, I have no idea...
  • Story is that it is down for 8,000,000 users.

Nice when you have a business that uses this a lot

    regards,

    Mike
  • Thanks everybuddy-

... all i get is 'Skype can't connect' and 'Contact your Network Administrator' - hello that is me and I don't know.

    'Misery loves company'.

I love Skype and few problems - 'Open Open Open'
  • It's baaaack!
  • hmmm - not here yet - i guess it will be eventually.

    • Yeah, no problem. It just came back when I posted, so maybe it will soon for you too. Kind of like losing an old friend when it's down, eh?
  • Mine is dead too 8 hours ago. I think the whole main server is down. I have never seen this before. I wish could have a look to the faces of poor IT team in Skype. Good luck guys, we can wait.
  • Wahoo! It is working now!

Yes, lots of old friends. I just love it and sometimes have several conversations going at once.

Thanks for being there during the withdrawal. lol.
  • Mine still isn't working. Ready to throw my computer through the window (I need to contact some clients asap and mail always takes too long before I have my answers)

  • @ Pat - I know all about having several conversations going at once. Kind or puts a crimp in productivity though.

@ Leslie - should hopefully be coming back for you soon too. See you on Skype soon.

    • Yes Dennis that is a fur shur - and also why i keep my online status at 'away' - if i am busy or someone is a pest i have the ready-made excuse for not responding until i have time - i am 'away'...

  • Oh I know you do, I know you do.
  • Restart it and try to login - let it hang 'logging in' and suddenly it will come back.
  • I'm trying to restart every so many times. Oh well, if it's not back up today, I might get more work done LOL
  • mine was down this morning but is working ok again now i think they are working on it now
  • For those who haven't seen it, this is from Skype:
Skype isn’t a network like a conventional phone or IM network – instead, it relies on millions of individual connections between computers and phones to keep things up and running. Some of these computers are what we call ‘supernodes’ – they act a bit like phone directories for Skype. If you want to talk to someone, and your Skype app can’t find them immediately (for example, because they’re connecting from a different location or from a different device) your computer or phone will first try to find a supernode to figure out how to reach them.

Under normal circumstances, there are a large number of supernodes available. Unfortunately, today, many of them were taken offline by a problem affecting some versions of Skype. As Skype relies on being able to maintain contact with supernodes, it may appear offline for some of you.

What are we doing to help? Our engineers are creating new ‘mega-supernodes’ as fast as they can, which should gradually return things to normal. This may take a few hours, and we sincerely apologise for the disruption to your conversations. Some features, like group video calling, may take longer to return to normal.
