Anyone in here ever been in love with an Amstrad Computer?

Well that was my first computer. On my amstrad I made my first programs on basic. I have bought many computers since then, but nothing compares.

First time... I will remember that feeling for ever.

My older friend had it, and I was sometimes allowed to touch it, haha.

Definitely. My first husband bought himself an Amstrad CPC464 to play games on, and I'll always remember him saying that I wouldn't be interested because that kind of thing was 'too complicated' for me. This was like a red rag to a bull, and the minute his back was turned I was poking about on the thing. I was twenty-four at the time, and it was the first time I'd ever touched a computer. I wasn't that bothered by the games (although I did go on to develop an unhealthy addiction to 'Paperboy' ), but I was fascinated by the idea that I could program it myself and was soon spending every spare minute doing all kinds of things with BASIC.

Husband MKI never did learn to program, but my interest in it kept me out of his hair (presumably so he could go off and do more 'complicated' things) sufficiently for him to want to sell the CPC464 and buy me a CPC6128. No more data tapes now - disks! Three inch disks if I remember rightly, that you could hardly buy anywhere. Such is life on the cutting edge of technology I had to sell the 6128 when we split up so that I could buy a sewing machine and support me and the kids with my questionable dressmaking 'skills' and once we were on our feet again the kids wanted an Amiga, but the Amstrad CPC will always be a bit special to me. Thanks for bringing back the memories

Certainly not...my first love was a ZX81. Later I was seduced by a Spectrum who had a larger capacity.

My first PC was a self built Sinclair ZX80, I brought a kit. My
real first love was with Atari. My brother had a CPC464.
Rumour had it, they were built to last only 18 months.
