I've decided to take stock of what I'm good at and what I need to improve on. I decided that I've been involved in the broad spectrum of web for so many years, and spend so much time on the computer that I SHOULD be able to earn some money from IM.
In terms of plus points:
- I am a web designer. I design front-end and build in valid HTML/CSS markup
- I have a deep understanding of SEO, ranking client sites highly for strong keywords
- I love to write and am not bad at it either.
- I'm an early adopter of new tech
now onto the stuff I don't like to admit:
- I lack focus, hopping from one idea to the next
- I am spontaneous. as soon as I have an idea, I don't research it, and just do it. Not good when...
- I lack patience. If something doesn't happen in literally WEEKS, I'm gone.
It's clear that my negative qualities outweigh my positive ones. If I could just "cure" myself of the bad stuff, and harness the good stuff, I think I could make a killing.
Just for the record I am self-employed, and doing quite well too. But I don't really want to work flat out for clients, I want to create 2/3 websites that I am passionate about, deliver true value, and pay for themselves in their own right.
So that's my self-analysis. Feel free to offer advice or tear me apart! Thanks for reading.
