Well, I check the e-mail quite often but it depends. If I'm not home, I'll check it once or twice a day. If at home, sometimes I even check it 10 times a day (Facebook, registrations, etc)

I work online both at my day job and at home, but only answer email twice a day. Once mid-morning and once in the evening. Unless there is something important going on.

Coffee in the mornings is a must! Work sometimes demand that I tweet, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram. I Hunt and Shoot Aliens as therapy a few hours every day. I keep a browser tab open with my email in it when I'm online. That way I can reply as soon as I have a new message. If I'm not online however, I would probably only check it once.

Whenever I am on my PC my email client is also running, which checks all my accounts every 4 minutes. Sometimes when the 4 minutes has passed it starts again straight away due to the amount of time it take to check each one and the amount of accounts that I have.

i end up checking 10-20 times a day, but i see twice a day as being ideal. it's somewhat of an addiction, i suppose. if only there was a program which actually blocked access to certain websites in order to allow a certain limited amount of log-ins per day. like a more sophisticated blocker. i'm surprised this doesn't exist or that i can't find it!

Emails can run your life if you allow them to.

I check at around 10am and then again at 4pm.

A lot of emails can wait, and much the same as Facebook or Twitter, it can waste precious time reading them all, or accessing them throughout the course of the day.

Of course, if you're waiting for something/someone important to respond to a question or business related query, then I leave it open and keep an eye on it.

However, as a general rule for myself, I find that it's not efficient or an effective use of my time to keep checking emails all day long. In fact, it can be a major distraction and can unnecessarily sidetrack you from focusing on your goals for the day.

I'm all for good communication, but if it distracts me from making money or forging forward on my plans, then it's fluff communication or of no benefit or contribution to me in a positive way.

With work, I have the inbox ready with alterts all day long. For social and personal I check when I get back home after work in the evenings. I try not to keep checking as it becomes a habit to stay glued to the screen awaiting that next email to come all.

How often do I check my email?

Well since I am both an Internet Marketer and a home-based freelance writer, I check my email often! When I'm at the computer, it could easily be 10 times an hour or more, depending on whether or not I'm expecting something in particular.

When I'm not on the computer, I make regular excuses to come and check my mail regularly.

And I don't stop at my inbox: I check my spam folder regularly, too, because there often seems to be the odd message that lands there that I DO want to read.
