Hello everyone,

I was wondering if sites like Commission Junction that refer you to vendor sites are safe to allow your computer to be transferred to those sites?

I know that one anti-malware site provides free software and even a HOSTS file that helps to block out many of these sites, which I have on my older laptop. I have not installed them on my newer laptop yet, which allowed me to use a "QuickCrumb" from BigCrumbs.com to make a purchase via PetCo and get cash back for it (about $6.00, I believe, on an $80+ purchase).

I scanned my newer laptop with Avast and the portable version of SuperAntiSpyware and they found nothing, so I presume that Commission Junction (the referral link that took me to PetCo's site via the BigCrumb affiliate link) was safe.

I think Commission Junction and some other payment sites use similar referral sites, which are blocked by the software and HOSTS file I mentioned.

My question is, are these referral/transfer links safe to use or will they leave malware on my system? I'm not quite as worried about ad-ware (though I'd prefer it to not be on my system if possible), but I'm certainly worried about spyware, keyloggers, viruses, trojans, etc. from using these referral/transfer links.

Yet, if it were safe, I'd like to get cash back on some of the purchases I make and be able to use CJ as another way to produce income via Aff. Marketing - therefore, I want to know whether these referral/transfer links are safe or not?

Any and all information and advice would be greatly appreciated - thank you.

Please take care, keep up the great work, and have a good day!
