Hey Kim,

I know in Canada, it's law that you need insurance, and usually you get a rental car until they can fix or car, or in the case that it's totalled {It looks done}, then they will give you "the value of the car", which is A LOT lower then what you need for a new car.

Caleb..
You are right the 'totaled' value of it would be used blue book value, if I remember right. IF there isn't still an outstanding loan balance on it and if there is, it would be lucky for a person to see much (if any) beyond that.
Alot depends on what type of ins. carried, etc. and how badly they want to fight paying anything, too

The car was paid for, no outstanding loans on it. The long and tedious job of fighting it out with the insurance company is about to begin.
Caleb, you are right, that car is totalled. We are all lucky to still be here .

In Canada you only need liability insurance which doesn't cover loss to your own car, rental cars or anything else. It pays for damages to others in the case of an accident that is the drivers fault.

You can purchase collision and comprehensive to cover your own losses if the accident is your fault.

So if you have basic coverage and smash up your car - too bad.

Hey Kim,

Sorry to hear about all you're dealing with man! I was tested to be a donor for my big sis a few years back and while I wasn't a good match due to my BP, after being on a waiting list for a while she did get a kidney about two years ago now. Things were great for a while but now it looks like the transplant is being affected by the disease that damaged her own kidneys, and dialysis may be a real possibility for her in the near future.

I feel awful that on top of that you now have the aftermath of a car wreck to deal with, and hope and pray that your wife, daughter and yourself all recover from that quickly.

Off to donate what I can to you right now, and if anyone reading this buys my WSO in my sig, I'll donate all proceeds from any sales if they mention your name here.

Keep the faith man and I'll be praying you get that transplant you need asap!

God bless,

Steve

Thank you so very much Steve. It IS a lot to deal with.As far as your sister, if she has any questions about dialysis send them my way, I'll answer the best I can.
As far as the fundraising, we are at $282 raised so far.

The Kidney Walk is over.
Now its time to dig in and get serious for the transplant fund.
If any Warriors have a product or a wso that they would be willing to donate to anybody that donates, post here and we can make a list.
I have one product that I started on a couple years ago that I will be giving away.
I know the information is execellent, but the two people I let review it said the way I wrote sucked.
As it stands now I have 6 months to get a donor and get the transplant done whiel the insureance will cover most of the bills.
We are trying to raise funds to cover living expenses and medical expenses during the 4-6 week recoevery time for my self and the donor,if I find one.
The car situation (see pics earlier in this thread) has made things a bit more difficult at the moment, but we will overcome all obstacles.

Kim, I keep coming back to this thread and shaking my head. You have sure been getting you share of bad luck. I hope things soon turn around for you.
Your problems make all mine look real small all of the sudden.

Keep your head up man. I will pray for you.

Hey Warriors lets pitch in and send some donations. I just noticed that there was two thousand + people on some of the main sections. If each one only can donate a dollar that would be... well you do the math and think about it. Most of us can spare likely spare more.

If you place good service ahead of making money... opportunities to make money will present themselves.

And that is because you had more than basic insurance. Comprehensive plus loss of use + collision.

Been driving in Canada for 33 years so I know what I am talkin about.

Kim good luck with the settlement. Not sure how insurance works in the USA.

Hope you get a rental or replacement or preferably both.

AEC, thanks for the encouragement. It IS appreciated.
Andie, I am glad to hear that you are really busy, keep it up!
My wife is healing fine. I went to follow up with my primary doctor today and she went with me. He said I'm doing ok but he is going to have me do a CT scan. While I have insurance, thanks to kidney programs, my wife does not. My doctor was nice enough to take the stitches out of her cheek. He says that whoever put the stitches in did a good job and in 6 months from a year no one will even notic she had been cut there.
That makes her feel a bit better.

If I had $200 bucks i'd donate $180, but right now I've got 3 packs of ramen left, no gas, and $20 to spend on a website for the E-book i've been writing for the last 2 weeks.

However maybe there is something I can do to help us both... Hold on... I'm scheming..

This is the best I could come up with:

I came back after getting fired from my assistant manager job for siding with a girl that was getting sexually harassed. After that I got tired of not putting my marketing skills to use and started working on my first E-book. So far it is about 70 pages(12 font no doublespace)(and growing).

However I don't have the cash for the WSO and Warroom when I finish. (I do have enough for a site and marketing but that is it) So I was considering something. In response to the OP's question "those who need sponsored, what are you willing to do."

How about this. When I am FINISHED(I don't deserve backup if I can't deliver). Not only will I give my sponsor a copy of the ($28)WSO, but I will also donate $20 out of every WSO sold to Kim Winfrey's Kidney Transplant Medical Expenses until he reaches his $10,000 goal.

Good idea? What do you think?

No problem. If you remember, I'm the guy with the Girlfriend who has PKD. Also, even though I would be taking a hit in profit, I would be adding to my security since this is my first WSO. If somehow I can pull off 500 buys in the WSO(which I think I can do with everyone's help) that would give you the 10,000 you need. I've just got to finish it and then have a few Warriors review it. Some Warriors have already offered to help me out because im in the rough. WF Pays it forward more than any community I know.

Thanks! I've got to cut some fat in it and then I will be getting it up to about 80 pages of content. A 5 Page guide of resources and services. Plus 8 or so relevant Excel sheets. PowerPoint(seriously). And about 4 Video instructions on different Marketing moneymaking tactics.

$28 WSO.

Its going to be a fat little piggy when I'm done.

I'm working non-stop, and am not sure when I will be done. Hopefully less than a week. I'll let everyone know when It is done. Food(for me) & Kidneys(for Kim) don't wait forever...

Hey Kim

How goes it? Hope everybody is still on the mend there.

I think when this will get really exciting again as far as raising money is when you announce you do have a kidney waiting.

Then we will KICK OUT THE JAMS.

Hang in there.

Like all money it tight here---but be assured that until June that anytime one of my bank accounts get a deposit a % will go to you. Can't promise the total of course but a % still goes.
Kim....still only pennies compared to the $$$$ needed but, GOTTA KEEP PRIMING THAT PUMP!!!!

Might just get that trend started yet!

Gordon, this really means a lot to me.
I hope to one day pay back in one way or another everyone that has helped me over the past couple of years.

Gordon, this really means a lot to me.
Many hours in thought trying to decide the best way to answer this. Kim, you may remember a post I made on one of your threads/blogs a year or two ago regarding a lady I was once married to?

She had Lupus (the systemic variety) and took lots of Prednisone. The pills caused kidney failure. Even with family donors transplants took long long time to get. She was waiting for second kidney when she died from cardiac arrest, at the age of 38.

I don't think many people following your case can actually understand the 'behind-the-scenes' day to day life you lead. So stated, anything that I can do that might help you or someone else in your situation helps me accept that death---and that was in 1984.

Actually, it is me who needs to thank you for allowing to participate in this, even in a small way.

Have a wonderful day.

I just realized that a few years ago, I pm'd you and thanked you for not jumping down my throat for making a mistake on a tech problem, I had made a typing before thinking mistake.
At least I think this is you.

Your avatar was different back then I think.

Any way I am sorry to hear about all your pain, and if it's all right with you, I'd like to put your donation link in my sig.

I plan on floating around the forum for a few more day's, have to go back to work soon, it would put the sig to good use. Any wording you would like.

Jim,
Spread the word far and wide as you can! I think Kim's link is going to his blog at majskidney.com and mine is to a fund page he has set up.
There are (i believe) hundreds who would say Thanks to Kim for being so nice........he just is. Welcomes us as newbies and is helpful and polite, on top of knowing his tech stuff

We need help making him a viral cause

I figured that was you, sorry you got hit with, so much, I know it can really take the wind out your sails.

There isn't much a body can say to another, in such serious times.

Just know I feel for you and your family.

try and keep that inner spirit up

I really think it helps

Good Question- I think we got it. Should know for sure tomorrow night when they announce it. If we did get it (and I have any say so in what goes on it) I am torn between the banner we held during the walk with KJ/Bill's design and the WF logo or actual people.
Will definitely announce as soon as we know!
