Pat,and the too many to name, Its 6:30 PM EST january 17th 2012. Less than an hour ago I walked into my house. The house I left 6 days ago when I got the call telling me there was a kidney available if I wanted it. I listened and when they finished the details, I said how soon do I have to be there? I was willing to take any option.Anyway, you know I'll tell more later, right now for the update. The kidney is in the "process" of "waking up" and starting to work. One from a live donor usually works immediately. When it comes from a cadaver it may start immediately or as in my case, take some time. I've been told from a month to several months to fully function. So,it has started the first process of helping my body do what it needs, but not enough to stop my need for dialysis. That will be decided on a week by week basis of the transplant center. My life will seem to be run by them for the most of this year, I got released today but have to be back for a meeting tomorrow, and given a list of meetings for several months ahead. Anyway more to come later, I truly thank all those that have helped and contributed in so many ways and will continue to update and share with all my friends. Bless you all. |

As are 'the too many to name' I am quite sure, I am just so dang happy about this turn of events for you and your family, Kim! Thanks for the high, I really needed it! ... and thanks for keeping us posted - double good you are already well enough to go home! I hope very soon you will be able to cut down and then eliminate the dialysis as I am sure it is a total bummer from the sound of it. Hoisting a green tea to the long road ahead and you getting back to a normal life soon! |

Well, I've been posting in the main forum, for obvious reasons, but thought I'd drop in here to give a "second opinion" on how kewl it is that you are getting ready to close the book on a bad chapter in your life. It's also just really awesome that you and Jack got face to face. God knows how much of a supporter he's been through the years. He has worked his way into my head and heart as an unsung hero, even though the image of him in tights and a cape is a little weird. Hoping you can completely cut off the dialysis real soon. I imagine even being able to cut it in half would be an absolute joy by this time and year. You take care of yourself and relax and heal - and smile, because those of us who call you friend sure are. |

Kim, Thanks for taking the time to update us! I checked today before work and of course, it was SOpA day. Always better to be home, I know you are glad of that. I also know you must feel 2012 has started off in the best possible way, and my heart sings for that. You have had a very long and difficult journey and at long last are arriving, so what are a few months of meetings and lessening difficulties. I'm sure you'll be singing and dancing before you know it. Andie -- so very happy for you and checking for updates daily, yaknow |

While a battle has ended, there is still a great one in front of me and my family. Praying for the kidney to work fully (though right now I have to get up hourly and pee in a cup, sorry for being so blunt) And after all 5 years a not peeing, its hard to get used to. And trying very hard to get out of a huge financial hole. More on that later though. This shold be and is a time that has made me very emotional, especially when I think of all of you that have helped and stoop with me over the past few year! Love you all, Kim |

Andie, I am at home recovering. We counted today (the first day I have had the nerve to look) and I have 25 staples in my incision. It is much larger than I thought it was going to be. We are waiting and hoping for the kidney to "wake up" and kick in. I get different guesses at how long it might take, some say a month or so,others say 6 or more, I can't do much except sit around so I decided to start a new blog, to replace majskidney, one that will follow me on my road to recovery and hopefully better health. I hope those that have helped me over the past few years stay with me. |

Becky, I have to tell you my life has changed so much in such a short time. From the 11th til now I am doing things I haven't done in 5 years. Beffore,I had to restrict my fluid intake, now they are telling me I NEED to drink 2 quarts a day to get the kidney functioning better. They are telling me to eat foods that before they said could literally kill me. I have traded doing dialysis every day to having been almost a week since they have had me do it. And I also traded having 2 15 gauge needles stuck in my arm every day to taking about 50 pills a day. While the pills can be hard to swallow (No pun intended) I will take them over the needles anyday. And most of all, I'm thankful for all of you here who I consider friends that have helped me with this in many ways. Kim |

Slowly getting back...that's great Kim. You ever read happy in text? I can almost hear it in yours...lol Like I told you..I really am tickled to death that I could be a small part of this real life 'happy' story. Particularly because I realize (to degree, of course) how much you went thru to get here. Personally I would drink that two quarts a day and go pee all over the back yard, while singing a sea chanty... But that's just me. |

Andie, I was going to saave this for a post at the new blog, but I am dropping pounds left and right. When I left the hospital I was at 69.8 kilograms. This morning when I weighed myself I am at 61.4 kilograms. Of course there is some good news. Other than the first week I was releasesed,I hvae not had to do dialysis since then. My creatin level ,which is how they measure how well the kidneys are working was 11 or 16 the day I went in for the transplant.Yeterday at my clinic, they said it has dropped to 1.55,so I am still recovering at a good rate. My two biggest concerns at the moment is oof course the weight loss, and the fact I am not sleeping at night. So if you pop on the forum anytime between 3am and 5am and you see me,that is why. I am pplanning to update the new blog later today or tomorrow.Hope to see you all there,And leave a note, |

Kim what's with the Kilograms You used to weight what I weight now. You weight know what my father used to weight. I'm 6'2" my father was 6'. You'll get the weight back, after you are healed. For now your body is more focused on healing. But you probably knew all that |

Hi Kim Too bad I can't send you a few extra pounds - I always have a few to spare. You lost it? I found it. Can you start eating stuff like olive oil and peanut butter? They are good fats and usually make you gain weight (over 1T OO or 2T PB) - OO can go on salads, toss wi/cooked veges, on pasta, etc. - PB use the 'natural' kind that you have to keep stirring. What do they say about the weight loss at the doctors? Try to drink some chamomile tea - starting in the late afternoon and right up to bed time. It helps relax you so you might be able to sleep - They have one called 'Vanilla Sleepy Time' and this makes the chamomile taste better to me... What do they say about the insomnia? It is a major bummer and I have had it most of the time for decades now. The only thing that really helps is pot - Try to take naps - just lay down and close your eyes whether you fall asleep or not at least you will rest and you might train yourself to fall asleep - eat and sleep well! |

I have heard it helps to turn off your computer monitor and dim the house lights at least an hour before bedtime. I'm curious about the weight loss. Is this supposed to be common with transplants? IMHO, if the doctor doesn't advise you otherwise, I wouldn't worry about the weight loss. Just try to do what you normally would do. If you start eating for the purpose of gaining you might accidentally swing the other way. I too have some extra pounds to donate if you need them. And LOL at Roaddog marking his territory! |

Kim, so great to hear that you got your kidney and are recovering well. You have waited so long for that kidney - I am so happy for you. Insomnia sucks - was suffering from it a few weeks back myself but am back on track now. Yoga can help - help to relax the body ready for sleep. I hope to hear lots of good, happy updates on here now |

Saving one dog will not change the world - but the world changes forever for that one dog *** Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you. January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire. So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything. | |

... and (Wow). Being a math dummy I never would have learned this - or why Google chose such a 'silly' sounding name. I bet this is the answer: Mr. Hil seized on the idea and set out to build an algorithm that would enable even more transplants. Nowadays, his pool typically consists of 200 to 350 donor-recipient pairs. That is enough to generate roughly a googol — 10 to the 100th power |

I'm not going to start a new thread about this, but I just got an email from someone I offered to help because they were in kidney failure. They accused me of scamming people to get get money and how dare I spend $25 on a dvd. ( yes,I did buy a dvd.) I had no idea where this was coming from so I did a google search for kim Winfrey Kidney scam and to my surprise I got directed to a site called Warrior Forum Sucks, There are a lot of post there saying I habe been ripping people off for years. That I am not a real person, etc etc. This is libel in my opinion. I did a whois and I have the name of the registrant and the site is through Godaddy. Most of the post slandering me are annonamous. Here are a few examples: Posted by Bev Clement Scammer: on November 12, 2011 11:36 PM said... So it was the scammer Bev Clement who started the trend of "cash gifting" to scam innocent folks... After that scam there was Kim`s "I need a kidney" scam. A now Ken Strong melanoma scam... yeah right a 6 figure earner having problems to get 10000 dollars... **** the warrior forum! ================================================== ================ Of course this is Anonymous Some people have no shame. This guy has been hitting-up WF members for donations now his asking for more from Family members! Even if his story is for real where does the begging end? A few months back I asked the Warriors to help me raise funds for The National Kidney foundation. I know what a great organization this is from personal experience. As many of you know I am in kidney failure and do dialysis 6 times a week. For those that don't know, dialysis involves cleaning my blood because my kidneys no longer do that. I have two hoses attached to my arm,one for the blood to leave my body and be cleaned, the other where the blood comes back into my body. Actually thats just a very simplified explanation. Anyway, this week I have finally been put on the national kidney list again, which means I can be called to get a transplant at any time, and my chances are higher if I have a live donor. I don't have a live donor yet,but I am always hopeful. I currently have private insurance which helps with the medical costs and the premiums have been paid by a variety of means but they were cobra'd. They will expire at the end of June, then I will strictly be a medicaid patient. My insurance will pay 100% of the transplant costs, medicaid only 80%,so of course I am hoping to get it before the insurance runs out. Now, thats a pretty long explanation, but this is what I am asking for help with. I have a page where I can take finacial donations, it is located here: Kidney Transplant Medical Expenses by Kim Winfrey - GoFundMe While the insurance will pay 100% of my transplant medical costs for both myself and for a live donor, it does not help cover living expenses for either of us. That is why I started the fund listed above,to help cover the living expenses while recovering of any one that donates a kidney. ( I have had two people offer already but for various reasons they wouldnt work out). What can you do to help? Well, yes, you can donate.Every dollar will help, but knowing how big the Warrior family is,I am asking that you send my donation page to your friends, family etc, etc. If you can help, great,if you can't I understand, times are hard for a lot of us. either way, thank you for reading this. Kim MODS-If I violated any rules I dont know about posting this and you need to delete it, I understand. ================================================== ================ and another Anonymous (but this one put JG at the end) Wow he has a damn nerve asking for his donation page to be shared with member's family and friends!! Kim Winfrey supposedly had a profitable online business, then he became ill and it all fell apart. He sure does post a hell of a lot on the WF so the question I'm asking myself is why can't he rebuild his online business instead of begging for donations? Now I would put this question to him on the WF but I'd be reported and banned within minutes by the mob. -JG ================================================== ================ This one calls themselves $500 walmart gift card: @JG - If Kim Winfrey had such a successful online business, then why isn't he repeating all the success that he made in the past? He posts 400 times a day on Warrior Forum, so there is nothing wrong with his typing abilities. And if he is so smart why can't he outsource like all those smart WF members supposedly do? He is such a joke, and I have a suspicion that he is a made up character by Allen Says just to help load his pockets. I would not put it past that dirtbag! Allen Says = Kim Winfrey, Heysal, Dennis Gaskil, Bill Farnham, Steven Wagenheim, Alexa Smith and Paul Uhl MYOB. ================================================== ================ And of course more Anonymous The Kim Winfrey fund is at $4,751 out of $50,000 so no doubt there's going to be more WSO's, begging threads etc.. The pictures on the Help Kim Winfrey Facebook page conveniently don't show his face...could be anyone ================================================== ================ I find all of this unbelievable. Any advice or suggestions? |
