Paul, You would contact my Transplant coordinator and she would tell you how to totest for a match. Basically the first step woulkd be going to a ocal lab and having a blood sample drawn and sent to the transplant unit. My understanding is they send you pre paid shipping container so there is no expense to the erson being tested. If the blood plays well with mine, then you would move on to the next step. |

Kim I am assuming you know all about this, but just in case I am wrong: A surgeon specializing in regenerative medicine on Thursday “printed” a real kidney using a machine that eliminates the need for donors when it comes to organ transplants. “It’s like baking a cake,” Anthony Atala of the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine said as he cooked up a fresh kidney on stage at a TED Conference in the California city of Long Beach. Scanners are used to take a 3-D image of a kidney that needs replacing, then a tissue sample about half the size of postage stamp is used to seed the computerized process, Atala explained. The organ “printer” then works layer-by-layer to build a replacement kidney replicating the patient’s tissue. College student Luke Massella was among the first people to receive a printed kidney during experimental research a decade ago when he was just 10 years old. He said he was born with Spina Bifida and his kidneys were not working. “Now, I’m in college and basically trying to live life like a normal kid,” said Massella, who was reunited with Atala at TED. “This surgery saved my life and made me who I am today.” About 90 percent of people waiting for transplants are in need of kidneys, and the need far outweighs the supply of donated organs, according to Atala. “There is a major health crisis today in terms of the shortage of organs,” Atala said. “Medicine has done a much better job of making us live longer, and as we age our organs don’t last.” via Surgeon creates new kidney on TED stage. So can we just BUY you a new kidney? |

And a word from Dear Abby this morning ---interesting.... KIDNEY DISEASE IS PRICE PAID FOR NEGLECTED BLOOD PRESSURE DEAR ABBY: Like many other young adults, I was too busy establishing a career during my 20s and early 30s to care much about diet and exercise. I felt healthy, so I saw no need to change my lifestyle. My doctor had told me my blood pressure was elevated during a number of my yearly physical exams, but I didn't ask any questions and took no action. Then one morning, I walked into my doctor's office complaining of a severe headache and nausea. I was sent to the hospital with a dangerously high blood pressure reading. After just a few tests, I was told I had chronic kidney disease (CKD). Even though it can be silent and cause no symptoms, high blood pressure should not be ignored. It is a leading cause of kidney disease, and because I didn't pay attention, my kidneys began to shut down. Abby, please tell your readers who are at risk for chronic kidney disease (and that's anyone with high blood pressure, diabetes or a family history of CKD) to check how their kidneys are functioning. I found out -- too late -- how important it is. -- AZIZA M., NEW YORK CITY DEAR AZIZA: Of course I will pass on your warning. According to the National Kidney Foundation, more than 26 million adults and thousands of American children have chronic kidney disease -- and most of them don't know they have it. In addition, millions of people who have diabetes, hypertension and other diseases are unaware that they too are at risk for developing it. Readers, March 10 is World Kidney Day. The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is offering free screenings during the month of March through the Kidney Early Evaluation Program in cities and towns around the country. With more than 50 local offices nationwide, the NKF provides early detection screenings and other vital patient and community services. To find a screening near you, visit www.kidney.org. Might cause some of the younger folks to pause a moment and realize this really CAN be happening to anyone, at any time. Love yer kidneys, people! Andie |

I have 111 on the site. The FB page has 110...there's been a one discrepancy since we started this...don't know what's up there. Before anybody say's it...yes I've cleared, cookies, caches...etc That code is acting kind of strange on the back end in admin stats too. But I will wait till they are done with the changes at FB to see what to do. That's FBML code...because I can't get the faces with the iframes code. I think the link for the donate page needs to be moved up again. Maybe stickied. If possible...maybe one of the admins.. because it's gone below "fold" on the kidney sites like box. I PM'd heysal this morning about it...but she must be mad at me or something...hasn't answered. 'sniff' Kim sent you a PM Jim |

I'm not making much on IM. In fact, I've just collected a few bucks on the internet since last month. So after a month collecting my money, I'm heading towards Warrior forum to subscribe for the War Room Member ![]() On my way to the subscription page, I stumbled upon your site. I do a little reading, and then I changed my mind. I keep the money that I have with me for the War Room Member, and I put it all for the donation. I'm just hoping that the money can at least help you a bit. I can always get some more next month. Sorry War Room Member, You'll just have to wait to be written below my name a bit longer. And for Kim, even we haven't met before, wish that you can get better soon. There are always hope out there. I'll pray for you as well. so Get Well Soon...

Heres some good news for a change. I had my once a month meeting with my kidney Dr. today. Actually, it was someone substituting for him as they say he left the practice without notice, but thats another story. Anyways, During the visit they told me my TK over V was 3.7. I don't know what the formula means but the bottom line is it says how well the dialysis is working, and the goal is anything over 1.4. Just thought I'd share that with those that are paying attention here. ![]() |

Could you mean KT over V? Kt/V From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In medicine, Kt/V is a number used to quantify hemodialysis and peritonealdialysis treatment adequacy.

If you remember we spoke last year, I have cancer and am having chemo at the moment, so when I read you had cancer to whilst dealing with kidney failure I could not believe it. You must be a seriously strong individual. Good luck.... My prayers and thoughts are with you Warriors donate even $10 or $20 can make a huge difference |

Kim Traffic is taking a bit of a dive on the site...but I have noticed this happen a few times with newer sites. I am still throwing content and links at it...so if history follows, it should start leveling out in a week, maybe two. Going to start adding some more "pages" and then posts. Have some pretty good keywords from the tracking stuff...they also give me the amount of people (search) for each keyword . And they are pretty consistent. So probably a few more major addition to the pages and then regular posts... and things should look a little better. Any ideas, let me know...I certainly don't know everything. ![]() Jim |

Anyway, I donated a tiny bit, hopefully a lot of those tiny bits add up, I already have forgot whose signature it was that I saw but getting people to do that is great. I truly wish you the best of luck and will try to think of a few ways to generate some additional money. Moving at the end of the month and pretty much tapped, but I am resourceful so I will see what I can come up with. I hope other warriors will follow and donate. I dont believe I ever saw you post Kim, maybe I should check out this section a bit more.
