What's new? well, today is my mother's birthday, 87 years young.
And I am about to burst waiting for tomorrow, which is the day the lady that works with my wife is suppose to test.
Other than that I am waitin for my monthly delivery of supplies and trying to brainstorm an idea.

Yawn Stretch cough.

Sip - yuck, coffee is weak.

Morning, Kim. Just got the post and am off to see to business after I get some of my go fast juice into me.

I've already switched the "Make it work this time" button to red for the day for ya. For any Warriors reading - we need to get everyone's key's to unlock that button. Can't detonate that button without everyone's key --- so get your keys out so we can activate this puppy!

Hi everyone - this is our new Save KimW account (yay!). Not sure how many admin we have here, but if you can't get in it's because I'm taking a few minutes to whittle down the post count so I can do live links - Main post is in the Main forum.

Post #3 -- 12 more to be able to post links.

Next to the "Donate Online" button it says you don't need a Paypal account, but it's not giving me any other option. It says I HAVE to pay with a Paypal account for some reason. I was planning on making 2 donations: one via Paypal, but I also wanted to make a donation via my credit card, which I DON'T want to give up to Paypal. Any way around this?

BTW, I did watch the little video about not paying with Paypal, but I don't have that 'unclick' option. In that same spot, it says I HAVE to pay with Paypal.

Note: You can only pay with a PayPal account to complete this payment.
Until I hear back, I'll go ahead and make my Paypal donation, though.

EDIT: PP donation made. Transaction ID: 0GP28715H8682054C

Update Guys! Quick note from the Warrior Allstars Team.

Thanks to a BUNCH of people from this thread pitching in and writing affiliate letters and about us pages and all kinds of cool stuff like that... After working extensively with Darren this morning into the wee hours we concurred that because of the teams contributions it is now reasonable to set a "Solid" deadline for this coming Monday and have it up and pulling sales, hopefully like CRAZY!!

WOW! This whole team...is AMAZING! We are ALL looking forward to getting Funds rolling with this project Monday'. Where your treasure is, your heart will bethere also, and ALOT of people have their treasure here, and their hearts are in it! Alot of great energy around this!

We love you Kim! Hang in there. We are in the last mile of a million mile race.

Only $47,000. to go!!!!!

We suspect that at least the next 10k -15k isnt very far away at all. It would be miraculous actually just to sell out all 500 copies in a month or something!

Hey, I've seen alot of things happen that were alot less likely!

Actually John, now that you mention it, I am going to be at a disadvantage when I go in for the transplant. for the past 5 years I went to the hospital a mile from my house when something went wrong. It got so bad most of the nurses know me by name.
But not all hospitals do transplants, mine will be done at MVC (Medical College of Virgina) and we don't know anybody there. Of course, I will report all sightings of hot nurses.I will consider it part of my civic duty.

Speaking of my wife, as I posted Friday she sent me something she wanted me to post.
================================================== =================

MY STORY – LIFE AS A CAREGIVER FOR SOMEONE WITH KIDNEY FAILURE

It is so amazing to me how your life can change in a matter of seconds. My husband and I were married 12 years ago and brought together our families. I had one son and one daughter. He had three daughters. Two of his daughters lived with us. We had four children living under one roof, good jobs, nice home and vacations every year. Life was good. We were the “middle class family.”
December 16, 2006 our lives changed forever. My husband had finally been able to open his own little computer repair shop. This had been a dream of his for many years. He was going into his third year of business when our world changed.
At work on December 16, 2006 – he was carrying a computer into his shop, tripped on something and parts fell on him. It ended up cutting his side, requiring a few stitches. He also had a bruised rib cage making breathing difficult. By December 23, 2006, he was no better and having trouble breathing so off to the emergency room we went. They did a breathing treatment, prescribed pain pills, and gave him prednisone (steroids). We went home, and he laid down for a while since our children were coming for dinner.
The children arrived and I went to wake him. Normally a fly could wake him, but this time I had a very hard time getting him up. We just passed it off as the pain meds. As the night got later, his whole behavior changed. He started talking about weird stuff and made no sense. We all laughed thinking he was just drugged up. The children left for the evening and it was time for us to go to bed. I was helping him with his meds, and he got very argumentative with me. Totally NOT his personality. I assumed he was tired from a very long day. We went to sleep.
Upon awaking at 6:00 am by my husband, things got horrible. He had done weird things throughout the night such as emptying drawers in the bathroom, talking to people who were not there, etc. I was so scared! I immediately called the ER and told them what was going on. They said to bring him right back. He was not even able to dress himself and didn’t know who I was. I got him dressed and immediately left for the hospital. I feared he had had a stroke. They took him right away. It is now Christmas Eve, and he has no idea who I was or the children. Upon running lots of tests, it was determined that he had acute steroid psychosis caused by the steroids. He was hospitalized and I was told it would pass once it got out of his system. I have never felt so alone in my life. My husband was missing Christmas and had no idea it was Christmas.
Upon learning about the psychosis, we also learned he was in kidney failure. We were shocked!! What? Us? No Way! There was no kidney disease in his family, he had always been healthy. Went for his physical each year with no problems. We were devastated! Now our life took a turn into unchartered waters.

We were assigned a Nerphrologist. This doctor was to monitor him to watch his progression and give us options of treatment. Dialysis was now our new vocabulary word. She told us that it would be a ways down the road, but we needed to think of types of treatment and change his diet, etc. This was January, 2007. In May, 2007 my husband’s kidneys began to shut down rapidly. He was told to see a vascular surgeon to have a fistula put into his arm so he could receive dialysis through this port. This was done. Now it had to mature to receive dialysis which should take about 1-2 months. Well, the kidneys kept failing at a rapid rate. He needed dialysis before the fistula was ready. He was put back in the hospital again, and they then put a “catheter” in his collar bone which he could receive dialysis through until the fistula was ready to be used. This was the hardest day of our life. The decision had to be made to begin dialysis and once you begin, you don’t come off until a transplant is given to you. Without it, you will die. Tough choice to have to be on living life support each day.
We were assigned a dialysis center where he would go 3 times a week for 4 hours a day for his dialysis treatment. This was hard. He would feel good one day and horrible the next. This went on for about a year. Then we were given another option called Home Hemo. This is where you do your dialysis at home with a portable unit, you have a caregiver trained to run your dialysis 6 days a week, but for 2-3 hours a day. Set up and take down is about an hour, and the actual treatment is about 2 hours. We both made the decision that this was the right choice for us. He would feel better each day as the toxins in his body were being removed daily instead of like a roller coaster.
Since our children were grown, we had a extra bedroom which we converted into the “dialysis room.” We painted the room, put up new pictures, bought two recliners, got a file cabinet, and brought in a tv and a small fridge to keep his medicine in. We needed lots of shelves to hold his supplies as the amount is incredible for a month. You need a lot of storage space to do home hemo. Luckily we had it.
Now we started a training program with the Home Hemo team. They taught us how to do dialysis at home, how to stick his fistula with 15 gauge needles, how to administer the medications in tubings as well as injecting medication into his stomach, how to handle emergencies, how to read the settings on the machine, etc. This took about 8 weeks, and then we were off to our dialysis room with all the machines and supplies at home. I was scared to death since I would now be holding my husband’s life in my hands each day. We both were scared, but trusted each other.
Now it was time to get him on the transplant list and get a kidney. Not an easy process. During all the testing you have to do for that, it was discovered that he had an enlarged prostate which was biopsied and revealed cancer. Another blow that was devastating to us. Again, more decisions had to be made as to how to treat the prostate cancer. With this discovery, it put us at 2 years wait time on the transplant list to ensure he was cancer free. We elected to have surgery to remove his prostate and be cancer free immediately. No fun going through this, plus dialysis every day, but we made it!
Now, we have settled into our routine of home dialysis and waiting for a kidney. In January of 2011, he was placed back on the transplant list as active and now we wait for the phone to ring. Our better hope is for a live donor, as that would truly be a gift from God, but most people get their kidneys from cadavers.

In the meantime of all this happening, our lives changed many times. I was laid off from a good job, we had to close up my husband’s little computer shop, could not find work, bills could not be paid. We lost one of our cars and had to file bankruptcy. Another blow. Luckily his medical expenses have been covered by Medicare, cobra insurance and the National Kidney Fund. Ihave no medical insurance and was going to a free clinic to receive medical care. All I worried about was him.
With all of these many things happening in our lives, we have grown so much stronger as individuals and as a couple. Life is good and we have been blessed by many family members and strangers alike.
Then comes another roadblock. January 15, 2011 we were headed to northern Virginia to visit family in the only car we own. I was driving, my husband was in the passenger seat and my stepdaughter was in the back. We were driving on I95 doing the speed limit (70 mph). It was 11:00 AM and a clear sunny day. Suddenly the rear passenger side tire blew. We lost control of the car, went over one lane of traffic, the car rolled and landed in the embankment. Thankfully God took the wheel. Even though we had seatbelts on, the airbags did not deploy since it was a side to side roll. My side caught the worst. My head hit the windshield, my chest hit the steering wheel and my side took the impact of the arm rest. We all thought we were gone. Luckily, my husband and stepdaughter got by with minor bruises and I suffered a gash in my head and in my cheek, and bruised ribs and chest. We were taken to the nearest hospital to be checked out. My family was fine. I was kept overnight for observation due to a sever concussion. Once it was all said and done, I had 17 staples in my forehead, 9 stitches in my cheek, and a ton of soreness, BUT we were all alive. Thank God!
Of course, now we have no car, as I only had liability on it. We are at the mercy of whoever will loan us their car so I am able to get back and forth to work. Life just continues to throw us curve balls, but we still get up to bat each day.
Our live now consist of me going to work everyday, coming home and straight to the dialysis room to run dialysis until 8:00 pm each day. We do take Saturdays off.
What my husband and I have both learned through these past few years, is that you take nothing for granted. We are stronger individuals and a couple. We have learned that goodness and kindness really does come from strangers. We are better people because of this illness. My husband lives each day on living life support, and I sustain that with him by being his partner. We don’t have much of a social life because of the dialysis and don’t get to go and do a lot due to finances and having to do the dialysis, but I love him more today than the day I married him. He is my hero, my best friend, and the other part that completes me. When people say “I don’t know how you do it everyday, day in and day out, my reply is when you love someone, it is unconditional. In sickness and in health.

MY STORY – LIFE AS A CAREGIVER FOR SOMEONE WITH KIDNEY FAILURE
Mrs. Winfrey - Let me assure you that your husband is a still typical a man enough to have given us only "my wife" as a name by which to address you.

Of all the ways Kim has been put on trial, there is that one spark that has kept him "normal" throughout the years as a Warrior. Many have wondered at the source of this spark that keeps him going, laughing, giving in the midst of the nightmare.

After reading your words, we no longer have questions about what kindles this spark. From all the corners of his life we have been able to peek around and see "how horrible, what a tragedy", we now have a view that allows us to see that Kim has also has an extreme blessing working for him.

Were I a director - I could have produced this story. Tragedy, joy, defeat, hope - a love story in the truest sense.

I am not a Hollywood director or a famous author, just a concerned friend who has joined with many others in a mass effort to write the rest of your story.

We believe in happy endings. We write this chapter of your story now in hope and prayer that it will be the final chapter. The final paragraph is intended bring the reader tears of joy.

Stay strong and believe. Miracles do come true.

Sal

Uh, I guess you know my wife did that post above this one!
Sal, you are right though. While we have had many problems during our marriage, several that were severe enough to make us both consider moving on, once I got ill,my illness not only made me a better person, but it let me realize what a truly wonderful person my wife is.
Anyways, husbandly duty fulfilled, she asked me to post this to my second family, and I did.

Seriously,
It really was hard growing up named Kim, it really was a "My name is Sue" situation. When I met my wife, she told me her name was Rilda,Hilda with an "R".
I figured it had to be Kismet!

I never had a problem with my name until grade four. That's when a new family moved to our small town. The one son's name was Jody - same spelling as my name.

I remember asking my mother thereafter - how did you pick my name?! She replied - I saw the name Jody in the "Toronto Star - Birth Announcements", and that's how we decided on your name.

I only had a problem for about six months maximum. Today, lots of people are named Jody with variations in spelling. Jody, Jodi , Jodie - both male and female - you get the drift! :p

My Mom has passed.....so it's kinda nice to have a name a bit out of the ordinary - something that my Mom gave to me!

I personally like the name Kim for a male!

WowW is right. What a painfully beautiful testimony from Rilda Winfrey.

Thank God for true love. It does exist and in spite of all of your trials and tribulations you are truly blessed to have found it in your marriage.

I know without good health, even if you were rich, life would be difficult and tenuous - but as far as I am concerned you are both truly blessed and have one of the greatest and richest gifts in life - each other.

I am so envious of you both and pray that someday soon you will look back at this difficult time and realize you have been victorious and are even stronger for having had the experience.

Funny how beauty makes me cry - even more often than sadness -- and you guys are right up there on the tear meter with puppies. (top flight)

God bless you both.
