I must confess that a similar ploy was used when I worked at the U.S. headquarters of a Venezuelan company.

The phone service to the U.S. from Venezuela wasn't great. But it's possible that dropped calls weren't always due to the bad connection

To get past the lull. Together with everyone's help we reached 11-12%,but not done yet. Am interested in possible offline ways to raise funds too.
ON a side note, I am hoping to schedule getting the picture for the billboard taken soon.

My transplant coordinator called and said she has not heard from my heart dr clearing me to get back on the list so its off to make some more phone calls!

No, last discussion I had was the transplant clinic was waiting to hear from the heart dr, and the heart drs's nurse was going to contact him and find out where he stood. His practice is part of a group and he apparently rotates office to office so he wasn't in when I called them.
I have not heard back from either since then.

I have to admit I didn't make any calls Friday.
I did go and have an appointment with an acupuncturist.(sp?)
It had been suggested to me to see one a few years ago,but I never even considered it. Then recently the idea came back to me,because I saw somewhere that one of the claims of benefits was to help control high blood pressure. As it is now for almost 5 years I have had med after med forced on me for the blood pressure yet nothing works,and this has been going on since December 2006. As it is now I take 4 different meds for it.
Here is a quick run down of the visit.
First, filled out a personal information/health history form.
Then the dr examined my tongue.
Had me take off my shoes and sox and unbutton my pants and had me lie down on what looked like a massage table.
She then started asking me health related questions. While asking, she started putting the needles in,starting with my head.
BY the way, I did explain to her that I didn't think of expect her to fix my kidney problems but that my goal was mainly to get my blood pressure under control.
After my head, she put needles in my hand/wrist, legs,feet on my right side then sis the same on the left side.
I have to say some needles went in painlessly while others hurt.
then she said I was to lie there for about 45 minutes and left the room.
Laying still for 45 minutes is something that is not easy for me.There were times I needed to move my hands and feet.
It was those times that the needles really hurt.As long as I was laying styill I didn't feel them,but if I moved my thumb or ankles there was definitely a shot of pain through the area.
Anyways,after about 45 minutes she came back in and said something about TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) using heabs as part of the treatement and told me to tell her it I felt something hot. Then she started rubbing something on the abdomin. I don't know what it was.
After the paste/cream or whatever rub, she said we were done and walked out.
Once I went back into her office she gave me a bottle of some pills,which she again referenced TCM,and told me to take 8 pills 3 times a day. I asked what was in them and was told chinese herbs. But,I asked,what are the herbs,and she said she only knew the chinese name but I could look them up on the internet.
But she did explain the the herbs worked in conjunction with the acupuncture,and wanted me to come back next week.
Am I going back? At this point I am not sure, I will take the herbs for a week and see if I see any decrease in my blood pressure.
And oh, I will make calls again next week!

However I hope that there are no contra indications to mixing it all with your other drugs - I hope you did tell her what all you are taking pharma wise and that she would know how that all mixes together.

My friend I referenced in the Cancer thread with prostrate cancer has been taking herbs from Vietnam since November and doing 'watch and see' with the traditional pictures, blood tests etc. So far it hasn't spread and his TSA is low (just like he doesn't have Cancer) - however from what he says this doesn't mean anything).

So many prayers to say for you two plus my other friend who has breast cancer - she had surgery, chemo and radiation and now preparing for reconstruction surgery.

The impersonality of it all is just shameful these day's. I feel for you Kim, I really do. Must be extremely hard on the psyche sometimes.

Do me a favor and read the latest article on the kidney site I just put on today, tell me what you think. It's about diabetes. I'm having a hard time believing it. Be nice if it's true.

I hadn't read that article before, and it is very interesting. Kidney failure and diabetes seem to go hand in hand for a lot of folks. It was not unusual to see a lot of people with loss of limbs in clinics. That was one of the things that made it even more depressing,as if it needed anything more.

And yes, I do know that. That is one of the things that keeps me both semi same and optimistic. (But where the heck has that John guy been??)

Hi Kim, I have been watching this and praying for you. As to where Ive been , just working, and preparing for something this week that will be the biggest single moment of my life. Very few know of a personal struggle of my own that I have been dealing with for an entire year now... Its nothing I have done illegal, and Im not dying...but its something that means more to me than anymoney in this whole world that I have been fighting for every single day this year unknown to anyone...

I have done well this year both on and offline... But money and business...is just a means to an end, and Wednesday I will know the result of my entire years efforts, and the thing that every fiber of my being has prayed for relentlessly will either be or not be....

It has to do with my children, and its leagues beyond a custody battle... much more intense than that...

Anyway, between preparing for that, and kicking off my new bootcamp I have just been working hard but will re emerge shortly, stronger than ever and ready to kick some more behind.

Much like yourself I have been hanging in the balance alot waiting on word from people... I know its hard. If it helps, just the mere fact that its being suggested at this point makes your chances better than 50/50 , so there is great hope here for you, and we wwill be holding you in the light.

I will be back on the forum more within a week or so.

It really does make my blood boil at times with all the BS we have to go through.
At the same time, I walk on eggshells because I know they literally hold my life in their hands.
But I am persistent, and though when the year started I was sure I would have a kidney by this time, I was wrong but are still hoping for sometime soon!
