Diane,
No and yes

No the mri did not happen. I made an appointment with my primary care physician but the morning of the appointment I woke up and the pain had subsided.
I am now 2 months and 4 days out from my surgery and while I still don't feel superhuman like everyone tells me I should or will, I know longer feel like that Mack truck ran over me.

I hope all is well with you and yours.

OK, the 1st Mega WSO is still active, but I am gathering items for a second one.
So far there is one item from me ( that was not included in the first wso due to a mix up), and an ebook which is currently being sold as a wso, that a fellow warrior just donated to me. ANy ideas or suggestions welcome.

Thanks Pat. A warrior contacted me out of the blue on FB and said he was currently running a wso but wanted to give me his product to assist in fundraising. Of course I graciously accepted and started thinking that maybe I should put together another ,but this time more of a mini-Mega WSO.

And let me say again thank you for all your support through these past couple of years.

Hey, Kim, a belated Happy Halloween! Do you celebrate it? I had a marvelous Halloween. My DH passed out the candy, both kids went trick-or-treating with other families, and I hung out with adults around the fire pit at the neighborhood potluck. What could be better? (Besides a kidney donor for you, of course!)

hi diane - belated happy halloween.

isn't the gofundme the total collected for what i call the disaster fund (direct donation to kim)?

so that is not money that is in there right now (as there have been several crises since we started tracking that, right?)

Just total collected to date, yes?

I hope I'm wrong because it would be good to have a little 'sludge fund' in the event, God Forbid that there are any new crises.

Well time to start the Fall here. This is our 'Indian Summer'' - we barely had Summer at all maybe a few weeks around 70s - a few days of 80s.

We had Spring rains off and on even in September/October.

I hate the heat so I am happy the last few years have been cooler here and more rain than in a long time - that's what i love.

The leaves are not falling (it's Fall and all the way to "Fall Back" Time Day I think Sunday... Because it never got really hot to toast them.

That's ok because they are old Eucalyptus and some Maple trees. I can live without all the leaves for a bit longer.

So Happy Holiday Season from me in northern calif

It's good to see you around here now and again - you have been scarce lately, Diane.

First, for all those interested that missed it,the billboard is finally up,a picture is posted in this thread. I am hoping to get someone that can get a better picture for me will manage it.
http://www.warriorforum.com/off-topi...11-2-11-a.html

On another note, yesterday in the mail I got a letter from my kidney coordinatior saying I have to come in for my yearly evaluation. Doesn't mean I am on or getting on the list any time soon, but at least it lets me know I'm still in the system somewhere.

As far as Halloween, which has almost always been my favorite holiday, this year it wasn't much. I was in my chair getting my treatment while my wife saw all the kids and their costumes and handed out the goodies. Then on top of that a couple of hours after it started we got rain. All in all it just didn't "feel" like Halloween to us this year.

Pat is right, the gofundme has been used several times over this year. January 15th we were in a car accident that totaled our only vehicle and those "good hands" people refused to cover any of it.I think Karma will come back and bite them though.

April 30th I suffered my first heart attack. Thats when they put two stents in my heart.

The first week of August I suffered my second heart attack, this one more serious. The stents they had put in were already clogged and they found problems they didn't see the first time. That let to me having,as the Drs like to say,my chest split open like a clam shell so they could operate. This was when I had a triple bypass.
So all in all,its been one heck of a year, but one thing that keeps me going is all the friends and support I get here. I thank you all.

Kim,
I have been an awful warrior and even worse 'friend' for ya lately! How are you doing?? It was good to see the billboard pics!! Way too cool to see in person, I'm guessing.

I've been utterly and completely exhausted getting back to work this past month and on the night shift at that. <Yawn> big adjustment for an old lady...but I am liking it so far; brain is mush from so much learning!!!
That is my sorry excuse for not being around with the usual cheering/comments

post an update....hope you are feeling well...any update on the list for you?

I'm still here. Wednesday I go in for my "annual transplant evaluation" which strikes me as strange since I haven't done one for several years, but if its the step I need to get back on the list,I'm there.
The form I have to fill out is total BS,it is all information they have had for at least 4-5 yeard now,but I have to jump through the hoops.
I will update after the appointment.

Great article Pat.
When I first got the news I needed a transplant I thought for sure I would have a live donor quickly. As it turned out those that I thought for sure would dropped out one by one and I finallly have to hope for a cadaver kidney.
I will see what Wednesday brings,if they say I am healthy enough to get back on the list or if I am going to have to jump through more hoops.

Well,
I had my annual kidney transplant evaluation today.
Some were mislead by my FB post, but all I was doing today was an evaluation, not getting a kidney.
Now, the good news is that all they are waiting on in basically a note from my heart dr saying I am cleared for the transplant and the should reactivate me on the list.
WHile a live donor has a better chance of success, I am nearing the average wait time for any type of donor.
Once I know wether I have been cleared or if I have to do the nuclear stress test I will update here again.

Howzit Kim? Just wondering how your holding up.

Any plans for Thanksgiving?

My boy is off for a week, so that means I don't have to get up at six and get him ready, make his breakfast, make his lunch, blah blah blah..

So I'm cooking a bunch of pre ready food today and tomorrow, so as to give all the little darlins when they come over and start bitchin about everything in site...and I'm cooking for the kids too..lol.

Have a big Turkey for Thursday...which I am cooking...trying to stop the old girl from turning it into a stress fest, likes she is wont to do...besides I cook better.:p

I thought I would wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving a little early, in case I get too busy and forget later.

Hope your still buggin those people to get on the transplant list...

Have a good Turkey Day

Sounds like my house - no school so we can sleep in, I am doing most of the cooking, starting tomorrow though, not today. 20lb turkey (I am cooking)...

The only thing I am not making this year is a cheesecake. Decided to cheat and buy one from the Cheesecake Factory.

Kim - Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

Andie,Jim,Mike, and the rest of my friends,
We are having Turkey Day at my house this year, the second time in the 15+ years my wife and I have been together. Between the two families and the children and their spouses and the four grandkids we are expecting about 20+ people.

My wife is taking a half a day off from work Wednesday so we can get dialysis out of the way early and then the cooking will begin.

While both holidays,Thanksgiving and Christmas are times to celebrate and ponder (does anyone really use the word ponder anymore?) the blessings in your life, I am thankful all year round for the friends I have found here.

As far as the transplant list, they need to schedule a stress test for my heart and after that I *should* get back on the list. I had one and passed before the heart attack so I would think I won't have a problem now. AS a matter of fact they called while I was typing this post and said they were in the process of getting it scheduled. Will keep all informed!

Happy Thanksgiving Kim and everybody.

In spite of all the problems we have there is still always so much to be thankful for. ("it could be worse")

Just don't eat tooooo much - enjoy, but remember all the salt and sugar hidden everywhere, and drink plenty of (non-alcoholic) liquids to try to dilute it all.

...and back away from your computers! This is a day to be with your loved ones in person! (i will have to leave the house to do this)

Cardio nukes? Ouch - that sounds a tad explosive.

Good luck, Kim. Hope to hear you are back on the list again. If not, maybe we just need to get you a plane ticket to somewhere they can do something for you.

Good luck Kim, and belated happy TDay to all. We lucked out this year - my mother in law took us all to Golden Corral - no fuss, no cookie, just lots of food and family time.
take care all!

Hi all

Had a nice thanksgiving - my son's girlfriend cooked at my mother's house. my son came and picked me up and drove me down there - then the next morning drove me home. (so he did 2 round trips for me to be there (240 miles total in 24 hours).

my son's gf made her killer real cranberry with orange zest sauce.

I drenched everything with it and took some home. Today my thanksgiving leftovers have morphed to DIVINE ALMOND BUTTER MIXED WITH CRANBERRY ORANGE ZEST - IT IS LIKE Peanut Butter & Jelly only BETTER - thanksgiving style.

Hope everybody is fat and sassy like me (all the sugar and salt)

I could not sleep on my mother's couch all night and about 4:30am my permanent sugar boycott was breached and i succumbed to a big gooey white flour white sugar chocolate chunk cookie.

omigod it was good...

Ok,the news is in. My nuclear-cardio stress test came back "normal",which means I SHOULD be getting back on the transplant list soon.
For those that don't know, the test consists of injecting a radioactive dye into your system, then injecting a drug that "imitates exercise" by their definition but imo what it does is unnaturally makes your heart beat faster and harder. There were all sorts of side effects, including blurred vision, headache and nausea. Luckily that part only lasts four and a half minutes. The test itself takes a half a day thnough, most of the time is spent waiting.

But the bottom line is I SHOULD get back on the transplant list again soon. I am also approaching the 5 year mark of being on it, whch means my number should come up relatively soon. While a live donor would have been great, that type of transplant lasts almost twice as long as one from a cadaver, I will be happy with anything I get.

One last note. Yesterday I got an email from the AKF asking me if I want to be a delegate to go to Washington DC in March of 2012 and be a kidney advovate. I'm seriously thinking yes,as long as my health doesn't prevent it.

Once again, thanks to all those here who have helped and stood by me during my ordeal.
It is you folks that have kept me optimistic when things are bleak.
Kim

That is absolutely fantastic news Kim, after all this time fighting away it's so nice to see some good news coming your way.

I always check here once a day to see if there's any news and with an hour left before I head home after the week that is truly a cracking piece of news to hear.

I really hope you're well enough to go to Washington to, I can't think of a better person to be doing so. I know I've only been aware of your condition since I arrived here but I can assure you, I really want to see a happy ending to this, you deserve it.

Good for you chap.

I haven't been in here for a while so just catching up on all your news Kim. You haven't had the best year but it's nearing the end so let's hope 2012 is a much better year for you.

I hope you get that kidney soon and then we'll all look forward to hearing about your trip to Washington

Pat, I'm trying to lay low and stay out of the hospital at least til after Christmas.
Thanks for the post though,it reminded me to call my coordinator ( I made the call while typing this) and she said she was hoping to get the Dr to read the results of the stress test and "ok" me getting back on the list today.

Of course then she asked if I had any donors for her. I finally told her that if after almost 5 years I haven't found one, I don't think its going to happen.
But we both agreed that I won't give up looking and hoping.

Diane, good to see you! Yep,nuclear-cardio stress test.I don't know all the ins and outs of it but they inject you with a radioactive material and a drug that stimlulates your hrat (they call it simulating exercise) and take pictures, then they let your heart come to a rest and take more pictures and if both sets of pics look ok,you get the thumbs up.
And I did get the thumbs up.

As a matter of fact about an hour ago I got the call from the transplant coordinator telling me that I have been approved to get back on the list! I had come to post that news when I saw your post. While my eye Dr did not do what he had told me he would today, the news of getting back on the list makes it a good day!

Glad I stopped in today....raining here.

If I remember correctly...you said you go back on the list, exactly where you were?

Some pretty good news before Xmas.

Just stay away from kryptonite...apparently it's the only thing that can take you down..:p

Jim,
I don't know/understand exactly how it works, but I am not suppose to lose my spot or time accrued on the list. And you are right, this is great news before Christmas
Instead of hanging my stockings on the fireplace mantle,I may just put then in an overnight bag, just in case I get the call. Ho Ho Ho!

KIM!!!!
That just puts the cherry on top of an awesome morning ---- ranks right there with my Texans clinching a playoff spot for the first time in all the years of rooting for them!!!!!!!

I am so happy for you, and have no doubt that just hearing that was a mega-huge load off your mind. I know it doesn't cure what ails, but it is a big step in the right direction! Now, time to find that match and push for the funds needed again.
Having said a prayer of Thanks for the news, I will move into the round of praying for a 'perfect' matchup for you. Nobody has been a better example of how to keep the faith to me than you have these past couple of years, and for that I thank you.

Have a great day and by all means - have that bag packed, dude, I have faith in you getting that call soon.

<<Hugs to you and yours!>>
