Well Jeez o petes - it's about damned time

I have no clue WHAT you did in your last life but you have the most freaking strange karma I have ever seen. You obviously did something worth some major bitch slapping - but if you look at the overview it seems in the long run you are gonna be forgiven for it. I think you'll have smoother sailing next time around. You seem to have been a nice boy this time. :p

Hey Kim, have you ever posted an ad on Craigslist for a kidney donor?

This young woman posted an ad this past July, and is now recovering in hospital after receiving a kidney from a live donor.

Kim, I'd go for it, it doesn't hurt to try. You may have a few tire-kickers that need weeding out, but the end result could be life-changing for you.

I remember that gal when she first posted the ad. She was determined to find a donor.

Here's another happy story from Facebook:

Seattle man finds a kidney donor on Facebook - KAYU

Maybe now would be a good time to post it as people seem to be in the "giving" spirit.

Thanks Jack!
We are coming up on the 5 year anniversary of being diagnosed with my kidney failure.
It was December 26th that I came out of the predinose psychosis and the Drs informed me I was in kidney falure. I'm conviced 2012 will be my year.(It has to be better than this one was!)

Oh,I also got the "official" letter today telling me I am back on the list,so now I have it in writing!

Dear Santa Claus

Please leave a nice viable kidney under Kim's Christmas tree this year.

We have all been good and sending many requests to the real Santa (your boss, GOD) and He will probably let you see all of them on our account for Kim.

They say He works in mysterious ways (no gaudy RED or sleigh with bells and whistles, etc). So you never know what circumstances may have been engineered that will end this mess for our friend Kim and his family someday in the future.

We are leaving you your usual milk and cookies but for your own good, the milk is from almonds, not a cow. The cookies are made with 100% cacao dark sugar free chocolate and honey - no white sugar or white flour for you. We love your paunch but we want you to stay healthy.

Please bring Kim's Kidney N-O-W.

Hey, Sorry for the delay.
As Jim knew,my wife was in the hospital for the past few days. She is ok and was released today. Because of that I disappeared for a few days.
Anyway, she is better and was released today so it will be a good Christmas.
Here is a bit of ironic trivia. It was 5 years ago today to the day that my journey with kidney failure began. Well, actually the acute steroidal psychosis began,it was when I came out of that 3 days later that I was informed I was in kidney failure.

To each and every one of you that keep up with this, you have my heartfelt thanks and gratitude, and I wish each and every one a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2012!

Getting down to the last chance to make a donation that is fully 100% tax deductible on this year's taxes -- that means pay the money to a good cause rather than the government beauracracy.

Top 5 side effects of dialysis.
National Kidney Foundation: E-Kidney
1.Low blood pressure is the most common side effect of dialysis, affecting one out of four patients at some point over the course of dialysis treatments. The two primary causes are gaining excess fluid weight between sessions and having a weak heart. In order to avoid excess fluid weight gain you should maintain a healthy fluid level by drinking no more than a quart of liquid in excess of what is discharged from the body daily and avoid salty foods which increase thirst. If you did gain excess fluid weight, discuss the issue with your dialysis team who can adjust the dialyzing time accordingly.

2.Nausea and vomiting are associated with kidney disease in general but low blood pressure and excess fluid weight gain are also common causes. If experienced during a dialysis treatment, inform the nurse who can adjust the machine accordingly. If you're suffering from nausea at home, speak to your doctor about a prescription for anti-nausea medicine.

3.Dry or itchy skin is experienced by many patients undergoing dialysis, especially in the winter. Use soaps which don't dry out skin as much, such as Ivory soap, and plain moisturizing lotions, such as Vaseline or Eucerine. Take care to avoid fragrance lotions which may sensitize the skin further. In some cases, itchy skin can escalate into eczema, a white, scaly, itchy thickening of the skin, which should be discussed with your doctor who can prescribe a topical medicine.

4.Restless leg syndrome is another common side effect that causes patients to keep moving their legs as a result of the leg nerves and muscles creating a crawly or prickly sensation. Restless leg syndrome can be tied to some forms of kidney disease, diabetes, hardening of the arteries, or a vitamin B deficiency, so it's important to speak to your doctor for a diagnosis and a prescription which will address the specific cause.

5.Muscle cramping causes extreme discomfort to many patients. Since the cause of this side effect is unknown, the issue can only be addressed symptomatically. Doctors advise either stretching the cramping muscle to release the pain or applying hot packs to the affected area in order to increase circulation. Some medications may help but these should be discussed with your physician.

It isn't functioning yet but that isnt unusual they told us.
I am in a lot of pain at the moment. From what they are telling us so far I will be released from the hospital next Monday.
I'll try to come back and update later.
Take Care,
Kim

Whoa, you have a new kidney just like that?...It is really strange sometimes how fast things can happen after such a long wait.

Congratulations Kim, I am extremely happy for you.

You just keep telling that kidney "welcome aboard".... never underestimate the positive power of thought.

Like everyone else all I can say is 'wow".

Please keep us updated on your progress..

I know it made your day...but you made my day too.

I'll ask more detail later when you feel better, just have a good rest for now.

Kim, I'm just so happy for you!

I have been under the weather, and thought this was a prank of sorts, so had to reread a few times. I never got that other project done, and was just thinking that I should stat that today.

Get lots of rest, you'll need it now that you have a new lease on life!

OMG, still shaking my head.....this is your year Kim. Congrats!

Kim - I've been looking for a thread on this since I saw (and shared) your announcement on FB. I didn't realize you already had it, though - thought you just found a donor. I thought you'd make a new thread. IT deserves one.

This is just AWESOME news. I can finally uncross my fingers that nothing would happen to keep you from that kidney.

CONGRATULATIONS -- WOOOOOTTTTT. I'm so glad this part of your life is over. Book closed. Happy ending.

I just posted in the Main forum. Everyone keep that thread bumped up and see if we can get some last minute funds for his expenses.

Kim, this is such great news!!!

And with all the grace and courage you've shown throughout this long ordeal, nobody deserves it more.

Hope everything continues to work out well. Take good care of yourself.

Remember to start praying and/or sending positive thoughts to Kim and his new kidney - he still has a battle ahead to get it to work and to keep it.

The war is not over yet - only the first battle is won.

I will have faith that it will all work out but let's not stop praying for him.

Im going to call some prayer warriors tonight on this. Thanks Pat.

Edit:

Done. Kim, you have 3 strong intercessors in arkansas speaking to your kidney right now and telling it to wake up and they will be praying for most of the night for you.

Ps. Just recieve it and tell the kidney its okay to wake up. There is new life.

That's great news Kim!

And let's also give thanks and thoughts to the person/family that gave the kidney. Often transplants are the result of another's bad fortune.

That is true Kurt, and was another's bad fortune that brought me mine.A mid 30s male that lost his life in a car accident is the reason I get a new lease on life.

When an organ comes from a deceased donor they dont always work right away, and this one didn't,but as time goes by we are seeing the indications that it will do fine.

It's a shame it took a death to give you new opportunity to live, but the family is probably much comforted by the fact that some good came from their tragedy. Without that donation, their son's loss would have been a complete waste of life. I hope they didn't stop at one kidney and that other organs were intact enough to be used to save others, too.

Just had a visit from Jack Tackett.
When he asked what hospital and room number I was in I thought he was going to send a card. Didn't know he was going to drop in for a visit! It was so nice to meet him in person.
I hope to meet more Warriors in person soon.
You made my day Jack, thank you!

Gee - I'd love to meet Jack - um........I like the kidneys I already have, though. I guess unless he gets a bee in his bonnet to come out on one of me and the gang's rock hunts, I'm going to have to go about meeting him the more conventional way, like attending a conference.

Hope you get to get out of there soon, Kim.

Hello Kim and Dear Kidney.

How about an update if you are able? Has the kidney 'woken up'? I think the last you said was it was showing positive signs so of course I am wondering about any progress?

Praying for you...
