Wow, females have it completely different!

Hello Warriors,

So I created a female profile at POF just to check out what sort of offers are being advertised to females. I used a few pictures of a (very) hot friend of mine with her permission, told her it was just for kicks.

So I logged in, played around for a while, saw some offers that were being targeted to that market, and then didn't touch the account for about 2 days. When I log back in there today, I have about 48 messages from guys looking to talk/meet up etc!

I've had my own profile on POF for about 2 years now (just for fun & marketing experiments) and I probably have not received that many messages from girls in that entire time (and I'm not bad lookin').

It just gave me a little bit of a view from "the other side"! Not surprised but still kind of eye-opening. I'm not sure if I would get 'annoyed' if I was a girl, joined a dating site, and got bombarded with messages from everyone and their brother. No wonder POF girls are known not to reply!

Well yah, attractive women do get a TON of responses!

So... you have to stand out when emailing women. Fortunately, it's not hard to do because so many guys don't know how to email women in a way that gets their attention.

How many "Hey Sexy" emails did you receive? That's a popular one.

I've had lots of success with meeting women online. I should write a book on the subject... Oh that's right... I did.

Yup, you're very right about that. A lot of "hey sexy" and other one-liners... definitely a lesson on what NOT to do when it comes to online dating. Hey, I've written a thing or two on that subject as well.

no its damn annoying tbh, I made a myspace profile to help with marketing and constantly get msgs from random men "looking for love" (that seems to be a euphemism for "looking for a quick and easy way to get a UK passport"). I tried changing my relationship status to married but I am pretty sure that just encouraged them lol

Oh it's not just on dating sites. You would not believe the way men approach women in general. Go to a bar and sit in close enough proximity to an attractive female and listen to the guys that approach her. Some guys actually just go straight to the point and give you a "hey wanna have some fun" (read: sleep with me). There's even more men than people realize who believe that if they ask enough women "you wanna ****" that one will sooner or later respond "yes" to them. They think nothing of the women that are horrified by their rudeness or those that truly get upset about possibly looking slutty and sending the wrong message after hours of trying to look great -- and worse just make a woman feel like a worthless piece of meat.

Maybe you should read the whole letter after reading the tacky openers and find out what exactly it is that has made us so precariously volatile over statements that guys make even if they feel they've said nothing offensive.

Surprise, surprise -- we weren't just born "bitches" because we have boobies.

Sal, back in the old days I had a pick up line that was flat out disgusting.
I won't go into details, but it was very sexual in a perverted kind of way.
Without fail when I used it on a single female I would get slapped (if lucky).
When I used it on a married female she would first look to see if her husband was a round and then either thank me for the offer and decline or grab me and head for the door
I always thought it was interesting how the two groups responded.

To be honest, I only went on three dates before I met my fiancee. All 3 of them (as well as my fiancee) I met online. I think too many guys try too hard to impress females. I always felt that if I had to try to impress a girl just for her to go out with me, then she's not the type of girl that I want to go out with to begin with. I just tried to be myself. That's how I was with the girls I met online, and it's how I was with my now fiancee.

OK. You've got to tell us Thom. What was the line you used? (You don’t have to be explicit.)

I tried something similar. (Asked a woman if she wanted to sleep with me after knowing her for 30 seconds)

        Well - I didn't get slapped.
        (Success.)

She just said she couldn't because she had a BF. We then shook hands and parted. She said she'd call me. But I never gave her my number. I think she was just saying that to make it look like a normal “encounter.”

(And so began my journey of annoying countless women ...)

Difference between looking for fun and looking for life support?

It's surprising how hung up people are about stuff like this. I can't imagine the left end (where people can get suggestive after seeing a photo of a stranger) or the right end (where there are so many hangups about sex).

If you ask a person for sex, especially if you are a stranger, and they just say YES, you have to wonder how many people they have had sex with. YIKES!

You're telling ME! I once got a call, while I was taking the calls at a boarding school. I guess she figured everyone would be hard up, etc...

SHE PROPOSITIONED ME! And REMEMBER, I was a stranger, and she did NOT see me!

When I said NO, she said, and I QUOTE! "Why not?!? I'm ONLY 50 dollars!"!

SHE PROPOSITIONED ME! If someone invites you, isn't it considered to be FREE?

BTW she DID SOUND nice, and she was obviously young, but still THAT way? You'd have to be REALLY hard up!

You look kind of "friendly" and I think that's a good thing.

Well, it's almost 3 years old, so I guess I probably should.

Well, I'm in the US and I didn't get it either.

And also -- it's not ATTENTION that I get riled over. Everyone likes attention. It's rude and demeaning or just plain disgusting approaches that I abhor. I've never had a problem with, and have always enjoyed having someone approach me with a clever or honest opening. After all - we have to start somewhere even if the conversation goes nowhere. I've even had guys proposition me outright...but were polite and honest enough about their intentions that it didn't anger me in the least.

Unfortunately - some guys don't get the difference between a respectful proposition and an insulting, slamming statement or just a disgusting display of really bad taste that makes a woman feel sick to her stomach just for having it pointed in her direction.

Some statements, while not demeaning to the woman just ruin every chance a guy has.

Consider this one ladies -- I was actually approached with this line several years back:
"I'd crawl ten miles uphill over broken glass just to suck the dick that f***ed you."
I wasn't insulted -- but he made my skin crawl. Yuck.

As far as the "wanna ****" comments - my only answer is "It's really presumptuous that you think that could ever be relevant to you".

And as far as guys bragging about how good they are.......LMAO. Guys - you want a woman with any brains to turn and run fast? Just claim to be a hot lover. Holy cow. Good only for contests at being able to turn a woman off the fastest. If you're that good, you know how to seduce someone and don't need a lame hyped sales pitch that sounds like a newbie WSO. Get a grip.

Ok, but you could have just said, "No thanks." You didn't need to throw your drink at me.

Your right Ladies, guy's are pretty dumb sometimes.

I figured it out a while back.

Women know what flirtation may lead to as well as men do.

You cannot bring the truth out so quickly, because nobody that spends an hour and a half putting on a new face and squeezing into clothes that don't fit, is interested in the truth.

                Guy's: Play the "game".

If you see a beautiful woman in form fitting clothes, tell her "I noticed your shoes, aren't they lovely"

If you don't dribble all over her, you'll peak a lot more interest than wiping your mouth with a napkin every time you check her out.

Try Youtube - I get strange messages/comments from guys all the time, some of which I've had to delete in order to not encourage others. And I have few videos with my actual face even - I usually get comments about my voice.

    WOW heysal,

If you ask a person for sex, especially if you are a stranger, and they just say YES, you have to wonder how many people they have had sex with. YIKES!

I used Match.com briefly until I met my H. I used to get messages ALL THE TIME that were er, not so savory. I guess it was not in my favor either that I was a Brit with an accent in the US looking to date. Hoo boy if you could see some of the pickup lines that landed in my inbox.

This is very true and has always intrigued me also. Guys get few messages but girls have to fight them off. Maybe this means guys are desperate....

I also think guys will send messages to any picture that looks good.. unlike where a woman reads the profile and makes a decision based on things more than just looks.

As a woman that tried online dating I have to say -- the massive mails made it unpleasant to the point I quit the online thing. Still, I have to admit this thread has been a fun read -- FB move over

Now of course I don't approve of such activity :p, but if I was you I'd totally have some fun with that and screw around with them.
