Hi folks this is my first post. So here is an introduction.

My name is Sylvester and I'm an information junkie.

In my offline world(which really isn't that offline) I work for a communications company as a member of their application support team.

Ah the cubical life.....

I also claim to be a jazz musician....saxophonist.... part time computer nerd and xbox gamer.

I looked at this IM thing way back in 96 when I was fresh outta of high school. I guess that also gives away my age. I bought a site that kinda like a resembles a franchise business model. Had no idea what I was doing and that went by the way side as college and life started to kick in.

So here I am back again with a clearer perspective on what this actually is. So far I have some sites up and have domains waiting to get dressed up.

I'm familiar with keyword research, SEO, LSI, CPA, and most of the lingo in this craft. However like some of us I'm stuck.

I have one small...very small goal. Make about $20 a day. If I can do just that. I know I can scale that wider. I'm interested in a partner or 2 to work on a course of action and wash, rinse, and repeat. I like working in teams. Not interested in wasting anyone's time.

This is a business and I respect it as such.

Alrighty thanks for your time...back to reading pdfs and watching vids.

Hi Syl, welcome to the forum. it seems you have some history in this game and for somebody that hasn't really kicked it off yet, you have a better grasp than many who have tried and failed for years!

I am new to IM (affiliate marketing specifically) but not new to web design and SEO. I solidly believe that anybody with interests and the ability to apply themselves can earn money online.

So good luck, you'll find loads of great tips here. Hope you progress quickly and enjoy it!

Do you have any skills aside from knowing the terminology?

Do you know how to write content? How to make images? etc. We'd need to know what kind of skills you already have to be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks Matt and I wish you the same. I was hesitant at first when I came across "The Warrior Forum" sounded kinda rough...but glad I did.

Sure thing.... I'm kinda a jack of too many trades....

I'm familiar with image manipulation tools both 2d and 3d...but not a graphic designer by any means...I although I'm lucky to have family that has experience in this area.

      I can write/spin content...good sales copy...no.....no experience doing that.

I've dabbed in some coding Java, VB etc. but I'm no master just a Jack.

I can do just about anything with a mouse, keyboard, monitor, and pc...if I'm presented with a problem and given time to research. But maybe that is it..... I don't have a good grasp as to what the problem is.

Hard to defeat and enemy you can't see...

So here is what most folks don't do in this field(and hopefully I won't regret)...reveal their sites Be gentle...

Hopefully I'm not violating any rules.....these aren't affiliate links
replace the dot with a "." don't have 15 posts yet
      xboxoverhauldotcom
      Site for repairing your xbox360

      mygirlleftmedotcom
Site that promotes a Travis Sago product(btw..I like that guy)

      losingbellyfatquickdotcom

      Boring I know...

These last two sites were tests that used some auto blogging software.

      tattoofadedotorg

      quitsmokingnaturallytipsdotcom

On most of these I bungled the keyword research. Got Market Samurai now ....although...it's starting to have some bugs...
I own other domains. But don't wanna touch those until I have a good grasp as to how to go about them.

One of your sites: Losing Belly Fat Quick

I took a quick look at that site and there are 2 things that immediately come to mind:

        1) You need a different wordpress theme, ideally one that is for weight loss (there's tons of weight loss themes out there).

        2) You don't have any calls to action. All of your affiliate links are text links that aren't really descriptive.

i.e. the post I see at the top of your blog starts with:

When you start a weight loss program,
"weight loss program" is hyperlinked to an affiliate program. All that's doing it passing link juice onto your affiliate product, nobody will really click that, they don't have any reason to.

What you should do is start researching "Calls to Action", which is basically ways of telling somebody to do something on your site, example:

Want to lose belly fat? Then click here for the best solution
Don't use that actual text, I wrote it in 5 seconds and it's horrible. But the point is you need to tell the visitor to click. Another alternative is to use hyperlinked banners instead of straight text links, put a 250x250 banner at the start of each blog post. You should be able to get banners from the merchants you are promoting.

As for your skills, posting a WSO here might get you some money, but it might not be very consistent. You could focus on the sites you have an improve them a lot (I didn't look at your other sites, just the belly fat one).

      Hi Sylvester,

Welcome to the forum. Seems like you have a good set of skills to work with there. I can't give you much advice myself as I am a newbie (just made my first sale a couple days ago!) however there is loads you can learn around here. Get stuck in, read up on topics your not sure about and put what you learn into action. Perhaps focus on one project to start out with as well - but hey I'm sure you already know this.

      Good luck,

      David

With your skills, $20/day is a piece of cake. Take pretty much any of those skills you have that are in demand even a little bit, and hang a shingle. Do it right here at WF in the Warriors For Hire section. Then start putting in some serious time participating in the forums here. Get your name out there. When you can, put a link to your offer(s) in your signature with a link.

If you share with this community... and I mean REALLY share... you'll be rewarded. Give to get. Happens here every day many times over.

    Hi Syl

It's brave of you to reveal your newbie sites to the community, but it's also good because this is how you learn.

A few thoughts from someone who has Adsense sites...

Uniqueness stands out and gets noticed - bland does not.
Find templates that fit your niche topics like a glove.

You're a good writer, but the copy needs to include photos and product reviews (especially in the weight loss area).

Think about what your target audience really wants. Study other sites in your niche and see what successful things they seem to be doing. Learn from the top sites online.

Anyway, you've taken action to get going and that's the most important thing. From here, you'll be learning step-by-step on how to get better at it. Keep learning and applying what you learn and soon you'll be making $20 a day.

    Oh yeah, and stay focused!

Sylvester i'm in the same boat you are man. I have tried for many years to make a single sale with clickbank and have yet to do so. This year i have created 4 WP sites and one of them i have acually ranking on page two of google now. Just keep pushing trying new things until something hits. Once you hit keep doing what you did to get there.

Guys and Queens I truly appreciate the warm welcome!!! Christian Little....I'm really appreciate your insight.

You really have to observe yourself when you are on the hunt for a product.

Note what appeals to you images, color scheme, writing style...etc.

Ask your self what is the motivation for anyone to put their 16 digits out there to acquire the "solution" to their issue.

"What does it take to earn my trust?.... and you have 7 seconds to do so"

Starting to get the shakes now..... need to inject some more knowledge
