I got an infraction for not liking porn spam

Polimedia gave me an infraction because on the "porn thread" in the main forum he spammed a porn link. Then I said it was against the rules and suggested ppl report the post or infract him if they don't like porn spam either. He's since edited his post but I still think he needs 5,000 infractions. I think everyone should infract polimedia on the porn thread maybe he'll vanish. Is this something for the help desk? I know Sister P's a mod but only in the asylum.

people that there was no excuse not to get off their butt and do something
with their business.

I was told I was being rude and nasty.

I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Well, well - I have to take that back. I didn't get an infraction, but I did get a post deleted. I wasn't overly rude - someone got hurt while endangering other lives and I just made a comment that they should be glad that they didn't kill someone else. I'm real sorry but that's the way I feel about it. I didn't say (or feel) anything idiotic like I was glad they were hurt or wanting them to die or anything obscene - just wasn't overly sympathetic about the whole thing.

It looks as only syrupy dripping praise and sympathy no matter how insincere is what is now expected of us. Same reason I quit counseling for a gov. funded agency - no real help, no honesty, no forced thought about responsibility - just a lot of "poor little you" back patting and nose wiping that ended up getting a lot of people hurt......but...by God - we weren't offensive!

So whose doing is it that we need to put on our sunday hats and kid gloves?

LOL there should be a rule-you must have an IQ above 20 to give infractions. Personally I would go for triple digits but that may be asking too much. Any idiot can give an infraction for any reason. Even a spammer can give someone an infraction for making a remark about spam lol I dare someone to give an old timer an infraction "just for feeling like it"

If you look at your infraction - it was reversed and the reason given was

"payback from a troll" or something like that

HOWEVER, I see you then gave two infractions to poli about 40 minutes apart- don't get on a tit for tat crusade. No one wins. Infractions shouldn't be due to not liking someone or because they did it to you - and should never be a group effort of "come on guys - let's give this person infracts".

Just my own little viewpoint.

Kay has her viewpoint and it has its merits fur shur. Especially agree it shouldn't just be about not liking someone.

However, I will gang up on a spammer or troll anytime. Try to bring it to a head by increasing the infractions exponentially so as to call attention of the super mods to it.

What about the Group Flame Broil. That is an OT Tradition! It's more fun than reporting or infracting. Not as polite but this is the asylum forum.

I mostly only infract on my own for rude behavior from an obvious troll having conflicts with multiple others and the whole thing is DISRUPTIVE.

If they send me nasty notes after the get their infraction then I infract them again for that.

By the same token I will do the same thing if no one is paying attention in the mod forum to a porn complaint sent multiple times in reports because they need to go soonest.

I will ACT UP until they (super mods) take ACTION.

That is what infractions and spam reports are meant for. There is nothing unethical about the other button, reporting, either - if there is a repeat spammer then it is good if he is gone as quickly as possible and doesn't get to rip off energy. Troll doesn't get to disrupt. Simple stuff.

In the Forum that I Mod, I would just simply delete the post or thread with or withOUT explanation.

Anyways gareth, to give someone an infraction, you see on the left below their icon/info at the bottom where it has the online/offline graphic, then it's the infraction icon, then the triangle to report a post... it's the middle one to give an infraction to someone...

Fairly harmless, because they expire quickly, but a great tool to track those with many infractions within their members profile... I guess you could think of it as the 'anti-thanks' button

I don't think I ever got one. Well, I can't see the infraction tab anyway, so I'm assuming that means I never got one.

Though, I can't see how I escaped it... especially during election time.

Kay- I had never given anyone an infraction before. But I got one for no reason so I tried to give polimedia(troll) an infraction and it ended up being a warning. Because I wasn't sure how to give infractions the right way. So then I did it again the right way

I have found out he's given at least 3 different ppl more than 4 infractions for no reason and possibly more. Those 3 are just the ones that spoke out, there could be more.

But I agree its a waste of time doing tit for tat but I just hate trolls like that and couldn't help myself but I'll try to be a good girl from now on if that makes you happy

Pat- I would give the thread but I dont feel like looking it up. It's about "is porn sabotaging your IM" or something like that. He's since edited his thread to take out the porn spam.

Whoever called me old timer-no way we joined the same year.

I will pay someone a $1 to give admin or Paul Myers an infraction hahaha.

PS- Is there a way to nominate Sister P from asylum moderator to entire forum moderator? So she can go from being a lil mod to being super mod? Mention that in the mod forum Sister P.

I am not the mod here. I am the mod in the PIPS forum only. It's the super mods that have the power throughout the whole forum.

However, I am a Warrior and I hate ****heads to disrupt the peace.

Now that anybody can mod in the main forum, heck I like a good fight. (not really) but let's just say I have a lot to be ****'ed about otherwise and holding all inside - so any opportunity I get to go Italian on these ****ers the better.

Heck I just ate some gunpowder for breakfast this VERY morning.

Imma here-a waving-a my a-hands-a in the air. WhatamI gonna do with you? eh?

This is one of the problems of having members moderate forums. Some are just over controlling, some are just vengeful. Spammers should be automatically removed, period. We shouldn't have to vote to do that. Why should the forum look like our email boxes. Makes you wait on baited breath for the day they find a way to phish your username for viagra ads, doesn't it?

As far as my last deleted post - It is now mandatory that I idiotically drip with false emotions to post a logical post because someone else doesn't like the guilt they feel or because everyone else is gushing idiotically over something. I have also had my language censored in PRIVATE messages now. That one pisses me off to no end. I am highly trained in linguistics and understand more about language than most people know there is to know about it - yet I can't use a word I use with full intent and purpose in a PRIVATE message?

Watch this:

Are any of you fooled by the censorship as to what I just said? Censoring just calls more attention to a word as people can tell both contextually and by the amount of letters bleeped what I just said. Now instead of just reading over it they are very actively thinking about it. Instead of being offended or nonplused by the word, if they would have been offended they feel unjustified satisfaction in the power of controlling the speech of another. If
they were not offended by the wording in the first place, they are now outraged over the control. Yep, everything nice and fixed here.

I have also had my language censored in PRIVATE messages now. That one pisses me off to no end. I am highly trained in linguistics and understand more about language than most people know there is to know about it - yet I can't use a word I use with full intent and purpose in a PRIVATE message?

Don't get upset over one deleted post. Why surprised that on a forum there might be limits to what is allowed in PM's? You're just mad, girl. Being highly trained in linguistics doesn't change the sound of F*** you.

Use your talent to explain how stupid the person is by using words he'll have to look up in order to understand what you're saying. Now, THAT'S fun.

LOL - Not just mad. It is totally unfounded logic to censor words. I use the ones that get bleeped when I feel they convey the strength of my position the best. F---(gonna get bleeped anyway) might be considered a taboo word but it is actually one of the most diversely functioning word in our language. Now if I'm actually needing to use formal register - or if lesser strength, more imagination is required, I find other means to express myself - you've seen that.

I fully understand that severe language can turn some people's focus away from what I am saying or give them justification for not seeing the issue - but there are times that I choose to have people with that mentality ignore what I am saying anyway for the purpose of not having to weed through a lot of illogical, emotional, mumbo jumbo replies. LOL. If I want a more "per capita" representative response, I'll choose other words.

In a private message, I am usually talking to a friend or someone who has solicited my attention and I don't feel it appropriate, just, or functional to inhibit someone from saying as they please in a private conversation - that just goes beyond reason or right.

And besides, Kay, there's just nothing that says it better at times than a raw statement

If you were smacked for a PM comments - wouldn't that be because the person you sent it to complained? Unless Allen has some filter in place perhaps.

I guess I don't think of F*** as strong or taboo any more - it's too commonly used. It's used to refer to anything you don't like and by some to things they do like -

"coffee is too f***in hot"
"this is f***in good coffee"

There's no shock value to the word any more and you hear it so often that it doesn't even get attention.

I have a sudden urge to give everyone an infraction for the fun of it. But that would probably be a bad idea so I will resist.

I just got another urge to give everyone an infraction who kills poor cute deer lol.

Maybe there should be a rule you have to be a member at least 14 days before giving an infraction so some troll can't just join and give 10 infractions their first week.

Those who use the word f*** are showing they have a limited vocabulary to express themselves. There are other words that are much more appropriate to use.

I am completely with annoyedgirl on this.

Although it doesn't seem to be as easy to accidentally stumble on porn as it used to be.

I have a hard enough time watching my seven year old on the computer
without him accidentally pressing a button on WF and getting porn.

It has no business on a this type of marketing forum.

If someone wants that, they can go to
timessquare.com or whatever neighborhood they hang in.
