Anyone having this problem with Fire Fox?

Hello Warriors,

I'm a semi new user to FF and have developed a love for it over IE. My only problem is when browsing .php sites.

Sometimes, for no reason, it just starts opening additional browsers... on after another. The only thing I can do is exit out and sometimes even cont-alt-delete and then stop the FF process.

Anyone know what causes this hang up? Is it a simple setting that I can change?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

    Hello Dave,

Check your box for spyware/malware. LINK
If you get Spybot, it will undo a lot of what the
bad guys have done on your Windows box.

(If you install spybot, uncheck the "tea-timer" option)

Clear your cache, etc in Firefox ( Alt+T+P ).

Good luck, and I hope that helps you. Your welcome !

    /Steve

      Hey Steve,

Thanks for the heads up. I just wanted to clarify... my original post might have been misleading. It doesn't do it for "no reason" such as spyware or something. It only does it when I click a link and it have trouble opening the link. Sort of just before timing out, it just starts opening additional tabs.

So as an example. Maybe I click the order link which is "order.php" then it starts opening the order page over and over again. It won't stop on it's own. I have to kill firefix.

Maybe that describes the problem a little better.

      Thanks, Dave

I personally think the coding language does not mean much. But, if
you have malicious javascript in your cache, it will bring up
the same problems time after time.

That is why I suggested to empty the cache and cookies, etc.

        Try turning off pop-ups
and see if it still happens (Tools > Options > Content )

If you think Firefox has been compromised or damaged,
uninstall it. Then get a fresh copy.

If that does not fix anything, you probably have spyware/malware
problems. Around 90% of computers do. I dont do this for a living
or anything, but when software does not operate the way it should
it is damaged, incompatible with other things running, or hijacked IMHO.

        Good luck,
        /Steve

As suggested, keep the FF running smoother by using the Tools/Clear private data.
Us the Help/Report broken web site & Help/Report web forgery.

Going this route, you will jump threw the FF 3.0 upgrade transition with no sweat.
If the problem is indeed of a spam type or upgrade trouble, let them try to catch it.

Want to put spam on the run? Hit the report button. Let them deal with it and so,
We can get back to work.
    _______

It would also help to disable or unload any Add-ons while trying to fix this problem.

    Hope this helps.

      Hey Guys,

I'll try those suggestions when I get home. One thing I did notice is that each time this happens, the file name will show inside the download manager (can't remember the plugin's name) as if it tried to "download" the file and not just open it in the browser.

I'll report back with what I find.

      THANKS again for the suggestions.
