Do you use Internet Explorer? Why?

Are you still using good ol internet explorer? If yes, why!?

I have found that most people who are using it are only using it out of tradition. (and because they know how it works)

But is that different with you warriors who are still using it?

From my experience most IE users are unaware of any other browsers.

Yup, same reason I would ever use it.

I use IE.I have tried the others, Chrome and Firefox but at the end of the day it does what its suppose to do.
Of course,I also use the most basic of cell phones out there and I don't text.....anybody. A browsers purpose is to load web pages. and I don't need all the addons. A cell phones is to make calls, and I don't need all the extras.
Basically I use something because it works.

I've recently started using Firefox, after having used IE for years. Personally, I still like IE for downloading files, as I find it easier to control where your documents are saved.

I like the IE Favorites vs Firefox's Bookmarks.. otherwise, though it took me years to switch, I now use Firefox at least half the time, if not more.

Haven't used I.E. since Fire Fox came out years ago, then changed to Chrome 80% of the time and rest in Fire Fox. Both are so much faster than IE and better laid out, IE is bloated. I'll try it once in awhile with updates to see what changed, no comparison to Chrome when it comes to streaming videos or flash ones etc, Chrome just loads and browses so much faster.

I only have IE installed because M/S WANTS it to be installed so they have basically FORCED many to be compatible ONLY with it. Xenapp, for example, for citrix, doesn't seem to work outside of IE.

BTW I DO have chrome, and firefox, and HAVE used opera, netscape, and mosaic. I end up using what started when I worked at that time. Right now, I have some sites in firefox, and some in IE.

OH, and Kurt was right about what he implied. You CAN'T create a good website, unless you look at it using EACH webbrowser. IE, firefox, and chrome are probably the three biggest players. Sometimes the SIMPLEST thing can throw off a site, and EVEN make it appear like a blank page!

I would even suggest trying stuff in the last 3 versions of each.

Use it as a back up. Have been using Chrome, however probably going to swop as in the last few weeks it has an irritating problem - 'Shockwave Flash' plug-in constantly crashes!

This is a funny and great question. I guess you could call me old school - I still use IE! It's comfortable - has all my bookmarks, etc. I have tried Firefox and for whatever reason - it always crashes. I have reinstalled it several times. I can't get used to the look and feel of Chrome - so....I always go back to IE!!!
However, the reason I said this is a great question is that we all need to have all of them at least installed on our computers for testing purposes. I heard that the majority of users use Firefox which may or may not be true - but your pages should be viewable in all of the browsers. I have seen a few sites that people create in Firefox that do not show up the same in IE. It's not worth losing even a small percentage of visitors to lack of testing!
So - although I am old school and can't get away from IE...I do have them all and suggest that anyone who doesn't - at least add them for testing purposes!

I've used Chrome and Firefox, and after 12 years online, I still prefer IE. Yet on the other side of my office, my husband sits and prefers Firefox. Neither of us much care for Chrome.

I think that people who are newer to the web aren't aware they have other options in a browser. I prefer IE and know there are options. I just choose the option I happen to like most, IE.

I used to think it was because I am old and set in my ways. Then I woke up from my dream, walked in front of a mirror, noticed that I am still young enough not to be considered old (unless you're 20 something) and decided I like IE because I like IE.

If you didn't laugh or grin at the silly humor at the end, just pretend you did anyway....

I use IE for 2 things, 1. Checking websites I've built. It still has a very large market share so it's important to make sure you're sites display perfectly on it. 2. Using the racing post website, firefox seems to make their script a bit slow and laggy for some reason and I like speed.

I'm limited to FireFox and IE, really, because those are the only two browsers in which my fingerprint scanner (for passwords / login info) functions.

I'd used FireFox for years, being among just about the most avid of IE haters ... but recently upgraded to IE9 and thought it was rather rockin', to be truthful. So I started using it for a while.

Then I discovered, the other day, that Clickbank and certain other affiliate cookies aren't stored between IE9 browser sessions and, feeling rather disgusted, I abandoned it for FireFox, again.

So now I have to eat my words. Last night I updated to IE9, and it's terrible. So I went back to IE8. This means after IE8 is outdated, unless IE10 comes along and isn't like IE9, I'll be making myself go to Chrome and/or Firefox.

    IE --- RIP.

I use IE, Opera, and Firefox. There are positives and negatives to each one. IMO, Firefox is the most overrated. Chrome I won't use, because as I understand it, it's spyware.

Yes, I don't think most people understand how much this browser phones home to the big G.

There is an alternative however, since this is an open source product, called Iron.

SRWare Iron - The Browser of the Future

It's basically the same browser without all the phone-home to the mothership nonsense. Works great, you might like it.

I know Chrome "calls in to the mothership" lol, but at this point it's the fastest and most efficient IMO. Firefox was my favorite before that....seems more fleshed out and not as creepy as Chrome plus all its plugins etc are great.... haven't used IE voluntarily for more than 6 years and when I do, I grit my teeth through the entire experience.
