I'm in the midst of creating a report on this, but wanted to stop for a second and pass this along. It's definitely not meant to boast...the whole thing came as a huge surprise to me!
First off, to be completely honest, this wasn't my first WSO. It was my second. I ran a WSO nearly 3 years ago. It sold 6 copies. It's somewhere in the forum if you want to look (but don't try to buy; I need to close that thing).
6 copies. I was crunched. I can't remember what Allen was charging for WSOs back then, but I'm not sure I broke even. I was disappointed, and thought after all the time I had put into things, it just wasn't worth it. I quit IM. I focused on my J.O.B.
A couple of months ago I came back to the WF after a couple of years away. I wrote a sad post. A couple of people gave me some encouragement. I decided to rededicate myself to IM. After all, I f*ing hate my J.O.B.!
What started as a little market research turned into weeks of research. I became consumed. "Damn it," I thought, "this is what always happens to me. I set out to do one thing, I get sidetracked, and I never finish!"
But then, like a light bulb turning on, I realized I might be sitting on something pretty interesting. Columbus was trying to find a route to India, after all.
I finished it up. I wrote my sales copy. I joined the War Room. I hooked up Aweber. I bought the WSO. Launched it. 1:11AM on Monday Mar 6, 2011.
All I wanted was to make my money back. I figured I was in about $100. Just make the initial investment back, I thought.
Within the first 24 hours it happened. I made back the $100. In short, I had made my first $100 online (screw 3 years ago, if you're keeping score)!
At that point, I was keeping my fingers crossed...maybe I could get another $100. Within the first 48 hours I had made $476! Hot damn!
I bumped the offer.
And then a funny thing happened. I went to bed late on Tues Mar 8. I was flying to Indianapolis the next morning. I got up and ran to the computer. Had I gotten any sales overnight?
And what I saw in my inbox literally made my heart stop. There were HUNDREDS of transactions in my inbox. I MEAN HUNDREDS!
My very first thought was, "Oh no, something's gone wrong! I'm going to have to explain this to Paypal." But it was real.
My WSO had been chosen as WSO of the Day. I don't know Mike Lantz (the founder of Warriorplus.com). But he plucked my WSO from obscurity and decided it was worth talking about.
In 7 days my WSO sold 878 units and made $9,531.
Now why am I telling you this (and I must apologize at this point for the length of this post )? It's not to brag. It's to point out something I believe gets lost along the way.
It is not the clever language or the "tricks" we pull on our unsuspecting prospects and future customers that make us successful. It is the VALUE we bring to them.
If the things you're creating or promoting can't answer the question: How am I helping [my market]? Then you're doing it wrong.
Focus on quality, focus on value. Think about ways to make people's lives easier. That's what I did. I focused on a single step of internet marketing and continued asking the questions, "How can I save someone time?" "Will this really help someone?"
I hope this was helpful! As I said, I'm writing a full report on my process, but just wanted to drop this into the conversation.
Thanks so much!
