Can FAULTY WIRES Cause Computer Freezing/Crashes?

Formatted the computer, brand new.

It works fine, but before I formatted it, it kept on freezing.

Now i formatted it, it is fast but I still have the freezing/halting issue.
On startup it also goes black.

But when i get this issue, and I pull out the Wires, straighten them and put them back it, and then restart, the computer works fine. :confused:

So the test for the adjusting wires fixes it..... :confused:

so could faulty/old wires be the cause of the computer crashing?
{wires I mean the SATA power conncetion wire + the Data wire {or whatever that one is called} }

I have 2 hardrives, primary {windows} + secondary {contains data}

Here is how they are connected
The Power supply is ONE WIRE - Seriel connection

But the HDD Wires are Seperate for each drive (2 seperate HDD wires, one for each drive, both connected to the Motherboard)
#computer #faulty #freezing or crashes #wires

    do the cables for the secondary HDD cause the same problem when you hook them up to the Primary HDD? What about when you use another port on the Mobo to connect the primary HDD?

      I have edited my post above. {added the wire setup}

      My mother board only has 2 HDD outputs, and yes i did switch them and the problem was just as frequent.

        Then its probably not the cables. Does your HDD make any loud clicks or sounds?
        Also, have you run a memory check? Run one and see if there are any problems.

    Test your PC for viruses because at times virus can cause a PC to slow down before runing the whole files. ADvice try scanning it with a good anti-virus software (upgrade version)

    Theory5 has the best advice so far.
    Carter3's advice is really not even in the ball park.
    As far as a memory check you can use a program such as memtest, which can be found here:
    Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

    Or you can do it by taking out one stick and seeing if you still have the problem and then swapping the other stick and seeing if you still have the ptoblem.

    If it isn't the memory, I would swap out the power supply.

    You didn't say in your post,what kind of pc is is? Is is a name brand or did you build it yourself? Whats the OS?

    Memory checkers CAN miss a lot of memory problems. If the power or disk cables get too close to the capacitors on the memory or bus, THAT could cause the problem. There could ALSO be a bad connection in the disk drive cable. They ARE fragile, some are bad quality, and some mistreat them. Changing the position can make it work better. If so, I would try replacing it! On windows you will have trouble spotting it, because the "VM" can fail and cause the system to crash. Depending on when and where the error occurs, you may never guess it is a DRIVE problem.

    BTW if it IS a memory problem, it might be related to the refresh. If you can add wait states, etc... it could solve the problem.

    And kim is right. Many computer power supplies are VERY complicated, all things considered. They are called switching powersupplies. Supposedly the power is much more stable. They also at least USED to have some BIG capacitors to assure it. I guess they never really used them on laptops because they are too bulky and the laptop is really powered by the battery.
