Why "report post" will delete a thread?

I had a thread 4-5 days old with 48 long value posts and today a spammer posted 3 ads and I reported him. Few minutes later my thread was deleted.
Is there something I'm missing?

Either it was an accident, in which case you will probably see the thread resurface, or others had reported the thread in question for some reason.

Threads aren't actually deleted by member reports and by the way, no worries as it wasn't just your report that removed the thread. It takes a minimum of 3 reports, depending on the weight of the report, in order to have a thread disappear (unless it's an official moderator, of course).

The threads disappear from view but are not yet deleted when there are enough member reports. Instead they are in some sort of behind-the-scenes thread purgatory for review by actual moderators. If they determine the thread shouldn't be deleted, it will be placed back on the forum where it was.

Also, double check in your stats that the thread might have been moved to a better section. While Paul has had enough and is deleting most threads in the wrong section, I know at least one mod is still moving them.

I think you posted on that thread too, it was about finding good content writers.
I can't find it anywhere, and my posts count reduced too. I think the that guy received three reports and that's why.

      You're right, my poor thread...

Here I found the Google cache version of that thread. There were a few posts over 550 words long.

So what? There was also a lot of repetition in the thread and a discussion that has gone many times before - good writers vs cheap writers.

If a thread is deleted - move on. Don't complain about it. We've all had threads or posts deleted so it's no biggie. You have a copy of your discussion so nothing is lost.

I wasn't complaining about it. I just wanted to know why a thread get's deleted by reporting a spam post inside it.

There are 10's of threads that ask the same questions every day so if this had been discussed before, I think it is something normal for this forum.

Anyway, I asked the same question in a ticket and they said it was removed in error, now it is back.
