What's the Weather like out there?

We've got water on the floor of the garage and coming through the roof in 4 different places. It won't stop raining. There's flood warnings just North of us in Sac - but the roads have some pretty impressive puddles here already. It's supposed to rain for another 6 days! Had some nasty high winds today, too, so it was raining sideways.

holy cow

    Hi Sal.

It's raining off and on heavy at times and some heavy winds - pretty cold.

Nothing too exciting. I read that all the counties around here have flood warnings too - Marin, Napa, Sonoma, but not us (Solano).

You are closer to the wild weather up there in San Juaquin county...

6 Days??? Wow. I heard Saturday is the last storm in the 'set' - in the Bay Area anyway -- but that was yesterday.

Well stay warm and safe, Sal. I hope it doesn't flood where you are.

Yes Colorado has a drought too - they are having forest fires near Golden.

Glad to share Andie - come and get it. We have up to 150% of the usual snow in several areas in California - I guess 50% of that belongs to somebody else who needs it...

Dang, I just watched a show on the History Channel about the levies in NoCal being beyond their service lives and in danger of failing if there is too much rain at some future date.

Hopefully, that is just sensational journalism in action.

Probably a good idea to be overly prepared at this point...

Tell me about it...We just put one out about 15 miles from where I live. Actually the day I posted my "disaster" thread that fire was burning.

There's the one by Golden which is about 20 miles W of Denver and now another fire about 15 miles east of Denver is burning . And there's a number of smaller fires burning in other areas.

It's unbelievable we're having wild fires in March. We "should be" getting snow in March.

It's still raining here, Pat - not sure what flooding is going on but it's the Sac area that's due to get dowsed the worst around these parts. Right here in Stockton it's just freaking miserable, and that's all the worse I hope it gets.

Kurt - fires? Just a few weeks ago it was abnormally cold in Denver. Isn't there snow up there at all? When I lived in the 13ers snow melt on top was starting now. Are these fires happening naturally or are the tourists being brain-dead again? Every fire in the region I lived in was started by tourists except one and that was lightning. It was always a dry climate though - pine forests, sandy soil, and even cactus around timberline and above. I heard reporters call "drought" a few times when rainfall was very typical for high desert regions - and when fires were set by tourists and should have been called "arson" rather than drought.

It was very cold for about a week. The rest of the winter has been average or warmer, with almost no snow. And this year has just been part of a longer draught.

I can 't make a snowball in my own yard, but could maybe find enough snow under a tree to make a snowball or two somewhere in the neighborhood. And I'm at 8500 ft. There is some snow in the very high mountains, but none lower.

For those that don't know, I live in the same Colorado mountain town where Steven King wrote "The Shining", which is based on getting snowed in and having cabin fever. We're supposed to have snow in March, not forest fires.

Yes and also the bridges, particularly around San Francisco -

Mind you we are continually spending millions and millions to 'retrofit' etc - you gotta wonder...

That's nothing, the county's nuclear technology is from the 1950's - (and the story I saw 3 hours ago has disappeared from Google News)...

    sleep tight tonight!

Sal, I read that the fires were of 'human' origin. My sister lives in Golden and I can't remember in recent history them not complaining about the drought.

Yes they should be having snow big time right now - It's in the 50's F 'sunny and dry' - I guess some snow up higher...

Saturday Shaping Up Sunny and Dry - Denver Weather News Story - KMGH Denver

I am now out of plastic bottles, buckets, etc. - I collect rain for my plants - partly to keep them from getting root rot and partly to save H2O. I am out there bailing every time the rain stops.

Right now it is just windy and cold and some clouds.

The Weather Guy said next week will have some 'really nice' weather so I assume that means the rain is stopping in the Bay Area.

I had some friends in Stockton and I used to help them with their garden. They had big garbage cans to collect rain and were on rationing (could only water plants certain days - back in the 1980s) so hopefully you got enough rain now...

p.s. it is ironic that all the places I dream of moving to always have catastrophic winters AND summers (floods, slides, fires, etc) and I think well I better just sit tight and be thankful for where I am.

That's just bizarre Kurt. Of course here yesterday the rain started to solidify - never got to be snow but it was damned close. My sister says this is the wettest it's been in 30 years. Wet is Ice age climate. I realize it's a la nina, but this is freaking ridiculous.

I can't imagine Empire without mounds of snow in the winter - this time of year it was disappearing but everything around me was so high that it was still white on top - in fact, if I remember rightly this is avalanche season out there. I'm wondering if maybe the pole shift is causing this side of the country to start to tip to the north, which would put you further south. It's the only thing about the weather anywhere that makes sense unless they are still spraying bromide everywhere for the damned radar. That's got to be one of the stupidest acts they've done - scream about C202 then spray bromide. Do these people have any brains whatsoever?
