I use a Netbook...I love it. It's like a toy

Really, it's a moolah magnet. I spend a large chunk of my time with it.

I change computer systems often, and I'm wondering are there Netbooks with DVD drives? I'm a wordsmith (and a movie junkie).

Thanks,

In the past I recall Asus having an "true" netbook (10" screen) with an optical drive... while others were more so laptops in the 12" range, think HP and MSI had one too? Though I don't know how you can work on that small screen, my gf has a 10" netbook in addition to her laptop and no way in hell would I work on that screen, kills your eyes after a bit and I have perfect vision lol. My 13" Macbook Pro imo is about as small as someone should go if their gonna be on a computer a lot, I may even upgrade to the new 15's.

Technically,no. Add an optical drive to it and it changes from a Netbook to a Notebook.
You can buy USB optical drives now that you can use with your netbook..

    Well, Netbooks are supposed to:

    1. Be LOW power
    2. Be Light
    3. Preferrably small.
    4. Preferrably inexpensive.

A DVD takes power, adds weight, adds size, and will probably add 10% or more to the cost.

So, NOPE! You CAN take several of your favorite movies, move them from CD to flashmemory, and play them just fine.

Be aware that it could take like 3/4 of your CPU, and cut your battery to like 1/2 the time.

BTW, to the best of my knowledge, they don't even sell FULL DVD media yet. They are stuck at about 1/3rd density, IIRC. The reinstall set that windows 7 had me make was THREE DVDs.

ALSO, they added laser etched labels only a few years ago. Since we KNOW they have not yet done what they planned to YEARS ago, it is almost a GIVEN it will change. Maybe it is for the best that netbooks have external drives, that can easily be replaced.

I think that a netbook specifically means that it does not have a dvd/blu-ray drive. If it did it would defeat the purpose of it being a netbook.
