I LOST MY VOICE!!!!

If you've tuned into my Friday afternoon talk show, you know I LOVE to talk.

Well, I've come down with a really bad case of laryngitis and can't get rid
of it.

Any suggestions?

PS - My wife is probably loving the peace and quiet.

I have consulted my spirit guide who says, "find the inward reason that your body manifested the sickness, and confront it....you will be healed".

    Wait! Im getting another message....

"If that dont work try warm honey and lemon water"!

Steve, if it's acute Larangitis, I believe it will run it's course in a few days. I was once told to breath in steam to help relieve it sooner.

Calm down buddy, this could become dangerous if you repeat doing that. Try to not talk a lot and loud.

Menthol inhaler would possibly do the trick.

I think Kay has a point but in such a great, subtle way. lol. . . As far as having it, I'm not sure how to get rid of it other than to try to rest your vocals. However, a trick that I've found if yours is starting to go out, is to try this trick. It will stretch out your vocal cords and when mine has started to go out, became fine again within a couple of minutes. The trick is pretty simple. Just keep your mouth closed at the lips but open it inside like you are trying to yawn. Make sure that you feel your throat kind of stretch. This stretches your cords and you can do this anytime. One way you know you're doing it right when you practice to get it right is when your voice becomes a bit deeper as a guy. This is more of a preventive measure that I try to do every day.

Yeah really. Don't ya just wish sometimes she'd quit worrying about being charming and diplomatic and just say what she means?

      Sal -

Life is too short to be sweet - not to mention that's the only way to get over laryngitis.

I had a friend who teased me terribly last time I lost my voice - I stuck a note in his pocket saying "when I get my voice back I'm going to yell at you".

Limit your talks.. Don't talk too much, it will surely not be good for your vocal chords! I had that problem too. What I did is drink hot water with crushed ginger.. you may want to try it.
