Best Cure For a Hangover?

I've got a hangover. This is LAME.

Apparently the good ol' daze of being able to drink free of guilt and free of fear of hangovers are gone now. Noooooooooo...

Oh well, I chose to drink and now I bear responsibility for it > Still find the need to ask though...

What's the best cure or remedy for a hangover?

First of all, hangover cures are preemptive. When you go to sleep at night, eat a multivitamin. And then drink two or three glasses of water. If you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom, drink some more water. And then when you wake up in the morning..drink a glass of water.

You'll actually wake up a little drunk, but without the headache. The headache is just you being depleted of vitamins and dehydrated. I do this every time and I never get hangovers...and this is with drinking like 8 or 9 beers and taking a few shots. Its even good to order a glass of water every other drink or every other two drinks while drinking.

This is about as spot on as it gets. Only I used to always drink a big glass of milk instead of water.

Been a lot of years since I had a hangover. I think my 30th birthday convinced me that my body was really over it.

Yes, drink water and lots of it, the reason you get a hangover is because your dehydrated, headaches happens because your brain actually expands due to lack of water.

I drink atleast 2-3 pints of water when I return from a night out and throughout the night, you wake up feeling great!

I used to do this, but I'd drink Gatorade instead of multivitamin + water. It worked though, but I'm sure it depends on how much you drank, also it won't do you any good once you're already hungover, but will help prevent a hangover from happening.

Water is really the best thing. If you rotate water with your booze you never get hangovers. I'm not always that disciplined, but I can drink all evg / night, and so long as I drink about as many waters as I drink beers, I feel fine the next morning.

I usually have an energy drink before taking any alcohol. For hangovers, drink plenty of water before you sleep and eat ice cream when you wake up. But most of the time, it's "mind over matter" for me.

Jim, there was something on the idiot box last week about a teenager who barely escaped death due to mixing the two. They covered a couple of other related incidents.

I know they sell the crap in liquor stores - but, young kids know they can get a real cheap high real quick. They don't realize the possible consequences.

I know I know I sweat it all the time with my kid.
He's into sports and thinks energy drinks are 'cool' I get severely pissed when people give him any.
I thought it was/is a terrible idea...some of these kids have no idea.

The question is, beside the danger to kids getting it, why would you want an energetic drunk?

Well, I don't drink both in one go. I just have an energy drink at least an hour before drinking alcohol, so as not to easily get tipsy. Is Gatorade really considered an energy drink? Coz I have tried a mixed drink of vodka and Gatorade before.

Gatorade's not an energy drink. Energy drinks usually have caffeine in them. Gatorade's just supposed to keep you hydrated but doesn't give you any type of energy boost.

Earth and Water... not really but at least the water part is the truth. Water is important before you start drinking (most people start half dehydrated anyway) during and after. The other thing is once you have it save continuing drinking the 2 things that work for me are a greasy breakfast (look it up it's well talked about) eggs, bacon the works AND you got to address the headache with NSAIDs (ibuprofen). But really, best is to prevent them by the proper use of hydration and drinking (the alcohol)in moderation.
Hope you feel better, being there done that many times over

This is what I've found to work for the most part. I can't guarantee a lack of tiredness, BUT, you have a good chance of not having a headache or stomachache. Before I drink, I make sure I take a Milk Thistle pill (Can get from Walgreens, but cheapest at WalMart). This helps the liver to process toxins, which alcohol is for the body. Then after I get home, I drink a glass of water and try to eat on the way home or at home. The aspirin/ibuprofin is bad if you take it every time you drink because of the interaction on the liver. . . When I wake up, my 4 things to help a hangover if you can do all of them are, to eat, to drink water with some lemon or especially gatorade or something with electrolytes, also, if you can get some brewer's yeast or something with b vitamins because alcohol depletes these and they will help to energize you, to nap if possible, and a shower. Ok that last one just kind of makes you feel better a bit. . . So in summation: 1) Milk Thistle BEFORE you go out 2) After drinking, eat a meal or small meal and drink at least a glass of water 3) When you wake up, try to eat and drink water with lemon or gatorade 4) Take b vitamins or better yet, brewer's yeast or nutritional yeast 5)If you have time, take a nap or sleep in. 6) Take a shower . . . Most of these are what you probably do already, but the milk thistle will prevent a lot of the bad effects and the brewer's yeast has b vitamins which are depleted from drinking along with other vitamins and sometimes have amino acids too. Eating and drinking water also help to flush the alcohol and don't have your body on an empty stomach while you sleep with all of the alcohol in your system. Hope some of this helps.

you're my hero! But anyhoo- water is the cure... water before, during, after... & then more water. The reason for the headache: dehydration. You can combat that if you drink a glass of water after every beer or few shots. The nausea: you had waaaaaay too much to drink & you're body is having a hard time processing all of even the next day. Drink milk, get something substantial to soak some of that crap up in your tummy. Or just eat a big bowl of cereal & knock it all out at once. & if all else fails: a beer... yeah, a beer will help, but not the best idea. Unless your goal is to wake up an alchy in about 10 yrs because the only thing you do after a night of drinking is drink

My worst hangover that did not involve a headache left me shaking and paranoid. My partner ordered me a tall glass of orange juice, which helped a lot. He said it was because my blood sugar had dropped.

So that's one thing you can try. I'm sure the Vitamins in it help, too.

Since then, I learned to drink a lot of water right before going to bed. And I didn't get another hangover after that date. I could drink 1-1/2 bottles of wine or about 6-8 beers, or if I started early enough, I'd go through a dozen beers in a day. This usually happened when I was working - doing physical labor - cutting down trees, hanging drywall, building walls in my house, etc. The work wore off a lot of the booze.

But when I wasn't doing that physical work at the same time, I knew I needed to drink about 2 bottles of water. It was a great relief to discover this little trick.

Another trick that worked before I discovered the water cure was to take a couple of aspirin before bed. The problem is, I later developed ulcers because of the aspirin, so maybe that's not such a good idea, come to think of it.

One "brainwave" some of the alcoholics I knew believed prevented them from getting drunk was to eat peanut butter before starting to drink.

But it's too late if you wake up with a hangover. That's when I'd suggest drinking lots of orange juice to get your hydration and blood sugar back up.

Other than that, just stay in bed until it passes.

Boy, am I ever glad I gave up drinking alcohol 10 years ago. It was getting too expensive anyway.

The best thing in the world is to try and not get one...and not by being lame and not drinking...all you have to do is drink A LOT of water before you go to bed and depending on how much you drank you should be pretty okay...If you forget though and do wake of with a hangover a great "boost" is to drink a Gatorade...When you're hungover your body is severely lacking essential liquids and electrolytes which gaorade has! (and...this will sound wierd, but an even better cure than gatorade is coconut water...I swear it works like a chram!)

The best cure for a hangover is not to drink so much next time LOL The next best thing is to drink lots of water

When you're not feeling well with the hangover, it is simply your body is dehydrated then try to replenish your body with Gatorade and also sleeping will help improving your body's condition.

I'm not gonna read all 80 posts in here so forgive me if this has been said, but I speak from experience so trust me on this:

You might be hesitant to do it, or you might not.. But drink a beer - No more hangover.

I can't even count the times I've had to do this when I was younger and still party-crazy. lol but it does work.

      A beer or 12!

We just used to do another day / night of drinking with half as much.

For some it's coffee or softdrinks.

But for me, water for hydration and definitely sleep..
I also agree with the above post, hehe, drinking a bottle of beer and sleeping afterwards works faster.
