$3.59 Regular, $3.71 Midgrade, $3.87 Premium where I am in New Jersey.

It will probably go up another $1.00 to $2.00 Per/Gallon by the Summer.

I have no idea how much it is - haven't filled up for three weeks.

Good thing about working at home - price of gas doesn't affect me much. I fill up about once a month.

    Fort Wayne, Indiana

This morning, I SWEAR, one place sold it for 3.999(YES, there ARE 3 9s! They brought back 9/10cent per gallon!)! Near my home, it is 3.87, though the SAME station sells diesel for $4.25, as I recall! OH, and as I recall, marathon here is now selling gas for 3.979.

    OH, and $3.999USD/gallon is $1.06USD/liter

The prices may vary so much because my home is on the outskirts of fortwayne. People are less likely to just happen there, and it may not even really be considered fort wayne.

BTW Like Kay I really don't notice but yesterday and today, I couldn't help but check it out. I usually don't drive much. I happen to be at home now, and drive such that a tank only lasts 2-3 weeks. Next week I'll make up for it though. I am going to florida, and the car rental costs are SKY HIGH! INCREDIBLE! The saless agent was SHOCKED! I bid up to about 25 on priceline, and it said NOPE! They want me to pay like 3 times that!

      Count yourself lucky

The average in UK as of today is £1.35 for unleaded.

A gallon in the US is 3.7854 litres, so using an exchange of £1:US$1.63 today then a gallon would be US$8.33

Diesel is more expensive, it is £1.41 so that would be US$8.70

GasBuddy is a great tool, but only if people are regularly submitting current prices. In my area, there are a lot of people who use the service, so it works out well. But in other areas, it will provide you with nothing.

If you have an iPhone, Android, or Windows Phone, then download the free app and submit your prices whenever you are on the road. I do it, and it's the only way to keep the service useful.

I try to use my Kroger (grocery store card) discount; they have a deal with the Shell stations that takes .10 off per/gallon if you have enough 'points' from grocery shopping (which isn't hard considering the price of groceries, too)

I have a very *small* little car/tank...what shocks me is seeing the purchase prior to mine at the pump........folks are dishing out 80 bucks at a time...chowie!!

    Garfield on the oil crisis:

A lot of folks can't understand how we came
to have an oil shortage here in Canada.

Well, there's a very simple answer,
Nobody bothered to check the oil.

We just didn't know we were getting low.

The reason for this is purely geographical.

    Our Oil is located in:

    COASTAL NEW BRUNSWICK

$3.95 for diesel in Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas. . . The sad thing is that it costs LESS $ to produce diesel and it burns more clean than gasoline (think green slightly) and yet they charge more, yet they talk about wanting cleaner burning fuels. Such hypocrites. Talk about corrupt gouging. OPEC shouldn't even control our prices. We get most of ours from Canada and only about 15 to 18% comes from OPEC and the middle east. We should give them the finger and go our own way. Then cap it at around $60 or so a barrel, which by the way is a huge profit already, so that it goes back down below $3 and possibly around $2 a gallon. That's definitely reasonable.

    Diesel is about £1.39/litre = €1.57/litre = US$10.29/gallon

At least in the 70s and 80s, a LOT of cars had a choice of diesel or gas. TODAY, the choice seems to be flex fuel which is any gas down to 15%petroleum,aka E85. The problem is that they charge a premium for E85, it hurts the food supply, and is less efficient.

BTW most bigger trucks, meaning the type where you have a HUGE cab that hooks to trailers, etc... are diesel. In fact MOST stations now probably sell diesel. Ironically, when they sold all those cars, diesel was HARDER to get.

E-85 is pretty much pointless, it cost only a little less than regular, and gets bad mileage... I'm talking cutting your range in half on a tank. E-85 ends up costing more since your filling up more frequently, I have a few friends whose truck can run it.

Well, that IS why I said it was less efficient, etc.... I HAD heard that it was like 80% as efficient, but that is just what I heard from like one source. YOU are saying 50%, YIKES!!!!!! Still, even 80% makes it senseless from an economy standpoint. 50% means it is good ONLY if it helps the environment. But at 50%, you burn TWICE the fuel. That means that you burn 30% of the gas, and 170% of the alcohol. YEAH, I know that adds up to 200%. Twice the fuel for the same effect. The idea of the 15% fuel is to burn roughly 15% as much, but half the efficiency means AT LEAST twice the time, so you end up burning 30%. And what if 50% of the power doesn't cut it, like up a steep hill? You may end up using far MORE fuel, may have to be towed, etc...

You know, I HATE fluorescent lights. They earlier said they put out about the same amount of light and used like 70% of the power. YEAH, I know, NOW they say they are far better. Regardless, the light is not the same, they may use MORE power to start, when they go bad it can be BAD, and they have several things, like mercury, that are BAD for the environment.

NPR, ****NPR****, had a show on about how engine degreasers were changed to supposedly make them better for the environment, help prevent global warming, and they were KILLING PEOPLE! I emphasize NPR because such reports are against their nature.
Anyway, mechanics that used them in the traditional way ended up destroying their LIVERS(IIRC). The old degreasers didn't appear to have ANY problems.

$5 is a tipping point for the US. And that is probably about right. People in the US need more gas more than most people in europe. It affects the economy more. ALSO, taxes on gas are probably higher in europe. After all, they have VAT on a LOT of other things.

BTW I got a full tank of gas yesterday, and the cost was 3.999(YEP, 3 dollars 99 and 9/10s)!

For YEARS, hersey's bars varied in size. They went down or UP in size! WHY!?!?!? Because they wanted to keep the price at 5 cents, and chocolate, etc..., kept changing in price. TODAY, the size tends to shrink as the price goes UP! 5 cents is a VERY old memory. That happened a decade or two before I was even born, maybe even earlier.

Gas companies, likewise, may keep the margin steady, or INCREASE it. But EVEN with a steady margin, the price AND profit will go HIGHER as their cost goes up, assuming consumption doesn't drop enough to cancel it.

So the speculators are using the excuse that oil supply MAY be interrupted; so it could be said that they are taking advantage of any bad news in the middle east.

My question is, "Why is this not gouging?"

Unfortunately the oil market is now basically completely controlled by speculators, they can make one tiny move in either direction and have a massive impact on price. The whole "Libya" issue is bs, they produce a fraction of the worlds oil. Speculators have been manipulating that market and their a are a few big key players... problem is with a "free market" it's hard to define if their "manipulating/gouging" even though it's damn obvious. I actually know a few people in oil and like they said, it's nothing but a shell game with bs thrown in...in terms of what's going on in the market.

Here's another example, 2-3 years ago we had oil in the range of $140-$150 a barrel.... yet somehow with pricing at $100-$110 right now we're seeing the same prices at the pump when oil was $140+.... this has actually been getting more press on the news on that issue, it makes absolutely no sense except for the manipulation by speculators setting the pricing for the pumps "per" barrel.

    Geithner on gas prices:

high gas prices "wont...endanger the recovery"

hmmmm, ok, I don't think these guys even pump their own gas so how would they know how it is affecting the economy and individuals. Most of these guys are driven around in their own limos.

The funny thing is I have never look at gas prices. The day I have to look at gas prices and run around town. Is the day I am dead broke. You need food and your car needs gas. So the price you pay does not matter if you need it.

Make enough money so that you don't have to worry about the prices!

I agree with your statements. There are certain necesities in life that people will always pay for, no matter what the price might be. For us Internet Marketers, when the cost of living goes up, we have the ability to create new income streams or enhance existing ones. Even with sky high gas prices, the sky is also the limit on how much we are all capable of earning.

With that said, I believe we are about to see gas prices higher than we have ever seen before. This might already be happening in some places, but in New Jersey, we are not at that point. The highest I have ever paid for Regular was when it was just over $4.00 Per/Gallon a few years ago. Given that I was only working part-time at the time earning $150.00 Per/Week or so, and a full-time student as well, it was hurting everytime I had to fill up the tank.

This time around, I expect to see $5.00 Per/Gallon for Regular, perhaps even $5.25 or $5.50. For Midgrade and Premium, we could be looking at prices near or exceeding $6.00.

Even in the worst case scenario though, let's do the math and assume you are commuting 30 Miles Per/Day, 15 Miles Each Way, which comes out to 150 Miles Per/Week. Let's also say you are getting 15 Miles Per/Gallon. Then 150 / 15 = 10 Gallons of Gas Per/Week Needed. So even at $5.50 Per/Gallon, it would only cost you $55.00 Per/Week or $220.00 Per/Month.

Could you not create a few blogs that would offset that $220.00 Per/Month? When you crunch the numbers, put a plan into action, and take massive action on that plan, it's really not that bad.

Gee, bring things in line in the currency market, and the price would be LESS than 3.17! That would HURT many oil speculators, ESPECIALLY on US markets! And THAT would negate their efffect! Cutting taxes locally could make it like 1.50. Which would help out those affected. It's certainly easier than trying to investigate MILLIONS of orders and trying to find a pattern that you can prosecute on.

Look at the power fiasco some time back. A lot of trading was PRIVATE and some, though corporate, had NO links to enron. The other side of the equation was missing. Until they found that other side, or tied it to enron, there was NOTHING they could do. They apparently NEVER found it out until AFTER they shut enron down for OTHER reasons!
