I've been listening to this song now for a couple of days and I have a few questions about it.
First, what is it about.
Second what language is it.
and finally what is that instrument the singer is playing?
It looks like a split piece of bamboo, but I'd like to know it's name so I can research making one.
Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah, here's the song.

The language is Catalan which is the native language of Catalonia or Catalunya in Spain.

I don't speak it so I have no idea what they are saying. However the instrument doesn't look like anything native to that area.

      Thanks Merlyn.
I thought it might be Catalan from the research I did, but having never heard the language I wasn't sure.
I couldn't find anything even remotely like the instrument he is playing, I like it though. I like obscure percussion instruments and that one seems to fit the bill
I really like the song also, something about that melody.

It is called a cana (the n would have one of those wave things above it so it would be pronounced canya)

It is a length of bamboo split down the middle, maybe half way down with a cut out section. You strike the bottom against your hand which will make the split bit open and shut creating a sound similar to Castanets.

Here is a video for you. Quite amazing the way the guy plays it. (From 40s onwards but may as well watch it all)

Just noticed you are back on the forum again (welcome back) so bumping this again as you may not have seen it back in July.

As your original post was from April last year you may have found out the answer to anyway but just incase.

              Thanks Jimbo.
I did find what the song was about and where it was from.
Just recently I even found out what that instrument was that I was asking about.
