They say laughter is the best medicine. In fact, recent studies prove the person who has at least - one good, hard laugh - each day lives 5 to 10 years longer than a person who doesn't.

What comedian makes you laugh the hardest, longest or most often?

    • Mart-in was a good show. But I don't like him in movies so much. Does anybody like Carrot Top? Some of his early stuff was off the chain. Gallagher was good, too, when he was original. Steven Wright, but he hasn't done anything original for years now, either.
  • I am not a massive fan of Ricky Gervais, (I like him but I don't love him.)
But him and Karl Pilkington together have me in stitches.

  • I have quite a few favourites probably too many to list. But I remember going to see Julian Clary over 16 years ago when I was about 7 months pregnant with my first child and by the end of the night I was in distinct danger of going into premature labour.
  • Comedy, being the most subjective art form, makes it hard to ever arrive at a consensus.
Personally, I loved Sam Kinison, saw him when he started in small clubs in Houston tx.

Today, I think Lewis Black is brilliant.

  • The late Mitch Hedburg is a favourite of mine (most people in the UK haven't heard of him though). Some of Daniel Tosh's stuff is OK (some is too US orientated and I haven't heard of the references, esp. Sports related stuff). I quite like Dane Cook.

    • I had that album for years, all black background, with his shiny, bald, much younger head peering out on the cover with a hand held mike.

I really was going to name Rickles my all-time-great, when I saw the OP.....Rickles just turned 85!...a comic genius, last of the old-timers, like Rodney Dangerfield. His Carson & Letterman appearances are all over YouTube with huge views, as they should be ...here's the legend with Jimmy Kimmel:

  • I love this thread. There are so many to pick from... i think I got the most giggles from Russel Peters....He's the best in my books...
  • I am shocked nobody has mentioned Eddie Izzard, Emo Phillips, or Louis CK.
  • Seriously, I don't know any stand up comedian, but when it comes to movie I think Jim Carey and Rob Schneider are the best. They're a very funny and they know how to deliver punch lines too.
  • I'm shocked that not a single person has said Conan O'Brien, Jim Gaffigan or Steve Carrell!

My vote goes to Kevin James, both in his stand-up and older sitcom (King of Queens) performances. The guy is just a visual acting genius...

  • For me funniest comedian is steve carell. I have seen him first time in The office episode. Where he did awesome comedy, Because of him only the office tv serial is very famous.
  • I think it is Jim Carrey.. I can challenge on his behalf that nobody can make facial expressions like him !
  • Eric Morecambe - funniest man who ever lived!
  • For me it has to be Lee Evans, I seen him live in Glasgow a few years back and it was awesome! Seeing him again later on in the year can not wait!
  • Easy. Larry David. Hands down.
  • Omar Sharif is the Funniest Comedian in The Whole Universe ...
  • There is another guy whom I saw yesterday on Tv and he was quite funny, his name is Raju shrivastav. He cracks jokes as if they are naturally coming from him
  • RUSSELL PETERS !!!! & Arj Barker ~ ! they will make you go ROFLMAO ^^
  • Dave Chappelle is the man! He had me rollin when he was doing his show on comedy central
  • I would like to vote for Jim Carrey, since I was in my high school years, I am a fan of Jim Carrey. From the first time I've seen him in The Mask, I am his fan already. "Somebody stop me" was the line that I remembers always from that movie. He has also other movies like Ace Ventura, Liarliar and many more.
And secondly, I am also a fan of the late Leslie Nielsen, from the Police Squad to his big screen movies like Airplane, Spy Hard, Wrongfully Accused, Naked Weapon and etc. He looks very serious in his movies but the scenes are hilarious. Most especially, the expression in his face are very funny..
  • My favorite is George Carlin, George Denis Patrick Carlin (May 12, 1937 - June 22, 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, social critic, actor and author, who won five Grammy Awards
  • Zhao Benshan,a comedian from China
  • Conan O'Brien and Craig Ferguson.
  • George Carlin and Sam Kinison are my two all time favorites. I was lucky enough to see Carlin perform twice. Most people just remember Sam screaming at the top of his lungs, but if you really take the time to listen to his act, he was brilliant.

I also love Lewis Black. Just finally got to see him live two months ago. Great show.

Steven Wright is pretty funny too. Mitch Hedberg pretty much stole his act.
  • jim carrey , my favourite

  • It is the first ever video which has made me to ROFL from the first to the last ! (am talking about the first video which has been posted " Martin Ninja "
  • Mr. BEAN is the best comedian on this planet!
  • Seinfeld is right up there with Mark Twain, IMHO. He is also gracefully physical in a way equalled perhaps only by Steve Martin.

However the most gut-bustingly funny performance I ever saw was Paul Reiser at the Laff Stop in Newport Beach, CA. It was at the height of his fame as a TV star. He looked a little uneasy at the audience response. Have always wondered if he felt he couldn't trust it, that perhaps they were only laughing out of sycophancy. They weren't. The material was so over-the-top hilarious that I was in physical pain more than once. It was like being tickled. I always hoped that tour (show?) would be recorded by HBO or something but it wasn't. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime things.
  • Gotta be Robin Williams for me.

A very funny man with amazing versatility and ability to see the funny side of life in almost any situation.
  • For me, it would be a tie between Robin Williams and Rowan Atkinson.

Both extremely brilliant, deep, and obviously, ball-bouncingly funny. =D
  • Russell Peters is simply awesome
