How do you decide who to help?

I've seen many "I need help" threads here in the WF over the years.
Some have gotten tremendous support and others have fizzled beyond belief.
I'm curious, how do you decide who you will help,or not.

I guess, a lot of it is empathy with me or if you "know" the person that needs help Usually, one warrior can't make a lot of difference to another warriors life but with the combined warrior power then magic can happen

with advice, free stuff, firesale buys, tech help.

When you hear someone telling you what YOU can't do, they are usually talking about what THEY can't do.

For me, it depends on several factors.

      1. The circumstances of the crisis. I really feel like some are beyond the Warrior's control (such as health issues). Other circumstances are the result of poor choices that (I feel) are totally within the control of the person experiencing the crisis. I, personally, don't reward poor choices.

      2. How well I feel I know the Warrior.

      3. What my instincts tell me.

It is not scientific, but it is what I do.

I've wondered the same thing. Everybody goes thru stuff sometimes and if everyone posted a thread about it, some would get a lot of support, some would get none.

It depends. Is it someone new or they a long timer?

Do they participate a lot or are they hardly around?

    Do you know them?

    Do you like them?

Are they nice? Or are they combative?

Are they willing to do something or just expect handouts?

What is the circumstances? Some are worse than others.

These are the questions I imagine many people ask when choosing to help someone or not. Also some people would help if they could, but if they can barely help themselves how can they help others?

I'm with Shay about the instincts. I do love to help, though, especially this time of year.

It is impossible to help everyone, even the ones you really want to help. Often kind words or encouragement, inspiration lead to strengthening of the inner psyche for solving the crisis on their own. Much help can be given by reassurance that they are not alone and this too will pass. There are also many charities and support groups available locally that we may direct them towards if we are unable to assist physically.

I try to help all who ask, within my means and not too much so that it hurts myself. I don't judge their circumstances or intent, I let G-d do that. I leave it to judge my intent and do what I can.
