We all know that marketing relies on understanding human behavior... what makes potential customers tick.

Well a few month ago I discovered a website called Cracked.com which surprisingly has a plethora of articles that offers great insight for marketers on human behavior.

Here are some links from my favorites list for deep thinking Warriors:

5 Ways Stores Use Science to Trick You Into Buying Crap | Cracked.com

5 Cheap Tricks TV Shows Use To Keep You Watching | Cracked.com

When Lobster Was Spam: 5 Gourmet Foods That Used to be Cheap | Cracked.com

6 Cheap Acting Tricks That Fool The Critics Every Time | Cracked.com

5 Cheap Magic Tricks Behind Every Psychic | Cracked.com

5 Shocking Ways You Overestimate Yourself | Cracked.com

And my personal favorite - Are you a night-owl drinker or toker who believes Bigfoot may actually exist?

Then you maybe too smart for your own good.

Thanks for your post. To answer the title, yes, it relies on people's behavior, but it also relies on the quality of the product. If the product is crap, most of the buyers will ask for refund and the words about your product spreads thus resulting in drop sales.

      @Dave

It is quite apparent you have very little understanding of human behavior.

    Interesting contrast, there.

Bookmarked the thread; will check out the articles. Doubtful I'll return
    to discuss, though. But thanks.

Read my original post and learn something.

    Dave,

Paul thinks your thread is 'oh yeah baby,' too. He's just a little
    shy.

Why don't you pick an article and start off by discussing it and
    telling us what you think?

The onus is on the OP to show why it would be worthwhile for me to waste my time reading those cracked.com articles when the conclusion is obviously in the title itself. He does not understand that my innate behavior more readily gravitates towards porn.

I'm saying that the Cracked.com articles that I linked to in my original post will give marketers food for thought in understanding human behavior in their marketing efforts.

I was not defending the site in general.

Most of Cracked articles are drivel like the TV show TMZ, Snookie and Paris Hilton but there are nuggets of info to be found there that will help us marketer understand why people do what they do.

    The general population.

In fact most of the the articles are about crazy stuff people, our potential customers believe.

Read the articles in my OP then comment

Is there any real benefit to read those cracked.com articles that could enhance or withdraw from the premise of the OP's opening salvo of such profundity? And if so why? So far I have seen no feature/benefit scenario for this requirement, which in reality is the basic foundation of an effective marketing campaign in the context of such human behavior pronouncement.

Why don't you just read the articles I posted and then comment on their merit to this community?

    You can't be that busy?

An hour of your time myob.

I know that some of these articles are heavy sh@t for some people but this is the world we live in.

Buck up and see yourself as the world sees you..... if you dare.

Show me something Dave. Show me something good. I thought the porn marketing was much better than your poor miserable attempts. You failed to understand me and to entice me to read those articles despite all the sales closing signals I gave out in my objections. Marketing 101: "Objections are a request for more information." And now it's too late - you lost me forever.

What value could those kooky, quirky looking links be in the face of your title which to me really said it all? You could have been more enchanting by using a paragraph or short summary above the links to hook me into the rest of each article. But no, you kept demanding me to read for no compelling reason and insulting my intelligence. And because of your insults and insensitivity to my needs, I will never want to read anything from cracked.com ever again. Do you see what you have done? LOL!

Just playing around with you - it's been fun.
