I can blow up monitors - with my humming

You guys wont believe this. Some times I like to make weird sounds. Like weird humming, buzzing sounds.

I was doing this in front of my PC and noticed that when I did it at a certain frequency my CRT image started to wobble a little bit.

So I practiced for a few minutes untill I found the harmonic frequency for my CRT - and guess what !!!

I blew the damn thing up and had to buy a new one.

Yep and I have tested - it works on all CRT monitors, If you hum or buzz at the right frequency it blows them up.

      Its like biofeedback - i have to adjust the buzzing to the particular monitor.

      Its kind of like BzzzzzzOoowwerBzzzzzzzOoowwerBzzzzzzOoowwer

      Usually takes about a minute to two minutes to find the correct frequency and "POP" the monitor.

      Its also great for scaring cats away because they think you are a wasp.

          I've been experimenting with my monitors too. Depending on the type of monitor, the threshold frequency is around 50 to 72kHz. My vocal range is not that high, so I used another method. A shotgun with a muzzle velocity of 1600 feet per sec is quicker and requires less precise tuning. The disadvantage of using a shotgun, however, is there may be collateral damage to furniture, pets, and the wife and kids. The effective recommended range is 2-3 feet from the monitor, because any closer may result in ricochet and powder burn, and a further distance will result in too much scatter. But your mileage may vary.

        How big a problem are cats in Kiwiland that you would need to devise such a defensive strategy?

        Wouldn't a shotgun be easier?

    Don't know if i can blow up a monitor while humming but i can whislte and hum at the same time. That should count for something. May be I will come out with an album and sell it.

      If you really want to make a monitor blow, particularly a CRT, I recommend jamming sparklers down the air ventilation slots up the top. Eventually, you''ll manage to land one near the power supply unit and set it off, which will get the others going in turn.

      You can also make them do funky things with the colour by placing rare earth magnets on them. Just don't expect them to work ever again.

      First the screen starts to vibrate and wobble. Then as you tune in it gets worse - then kaput - monitor is blown.

      Friggin skeptics.

      I just wonder - can I do this on a human brain ?
