My wife started bugging me because we had nothing planned for Victoria Day. I asked her why we would want to celebrate someone who sent imperial forces to ravage her country and inflicted horrors on ancestors of mine as well. She didn't budge and wants us to celebrate it. How should be celebrate it? Smoke opium? Sheesh.

why not if that will make your wife happy and satisfied...besides if you do that she stop bugging you around, and the next time you need a favor she will surely return the favor. ..hahaha

Wow. Maybe you two could re-create historic events and come across the border and terrify a few homeless people.

We had a nice day. We visited a garden, commissioned an artist to do a portrait of our wee toddler, watched a puppet show (the baby loved it, laughed a lot), had dinner in a Thai restaurant. Didn't get into any heated history debates or terrorize homeless people, but maybe next time.

Ah you had the baby with you. Yeah - he's probably a tad too young to get any real thrills from that kind of political correctness.

Glad you had a good time.

Sounds like the perfect way not to celebrate a holiday
