I'm a Failure and a Terrible Mother...

Hi Family,

I don't have anyone to talk to,
so, I'm pouring my heart out
here on the forum.

I just need to get this off my
chest...

Life has delt me some terrible blows
this Christmas.

I've failed my children miserably.

I've created such a mess and now
my children will be so disappointed
on Christmas.

I fell for a stupid, stupid scam.

I lost it all...

I panicked...but then I remembered
I had a tiny list of subscribers who
had been responsive in the past.

I'd been good to them.

I created a product, sent out an email...

AND...

Nothing.

Not one sale.

There's no where for me to turn...
And, I can't get the children anything
for Christmas.

My heart aches for how disappointed
they will be.

I can't believe I was so stupid...

My children will suffer because of
my own stupidity and carelessness...

I've been a member since September,
and you guys always give good advice
and encouragement...

What would you do?

Jacqueline

I'm terribly sorry to hear that you've been taken advantage of and that your children will suffer, it is truly unfortunate that someone has ripped you off. In my particular case, my family and I do not celebrate this particular holiday, so I can't say exactly how I would react.

However, though there is little comfort in this, I will tell you that you should take a few moments to cherish your loved ones. My wife and I just returned this morning from her burying her father. So there are dear losses that can come at any time, not only financial ones.

It is not that you are not trying ... You are trying your best to get hold of the situation, but it is not just working out. That is all. Explain the same to your children. If you are not trying but complaining , then you should worry. But you are trying. Right? I certainly hope your children will understand your attempts.

Well I don't know you and or your circumstances, but if I had 'fallen for a scam and lost it all' then I'd be on the road to learning from that.

Life has knocked me down more times than I know, as it has to many of us. I have licked my wounds and made myself get on my feet and put a goal out there in front of me to reach and aim for, and I have kicked and screamed and brawled dirty to head for that goal and nothing and no one has ever stopped me!

Explain to your kids what has happened (depends on their age how much you can tell them)! Let them know there will be no material gifts this Xmas but let them know there are other gifts that you as a family can share - for children and adults alike, there is a life lesson there.

Come 2009 get working to secure your kids future! And don't let nothing and no one stop you from inheriting what is rightfully yours.

Me myself, I am personally on a mission to elevate me and my little one to where we need to be and I tell you this, it continues to be fraught and rollercoasting good I'm on my way...

    Good luck!

Do something out of the ordinary that your children will never forget.

I don't like how Christmas has become all about presents, but as a parent there is no greater joy than seeing your children happy.

Since you have no presents, take another route and start thinking quickly. You don't have time to be upset

    Jacqueline,

My heart goes out to you. It's not too late in the game to earn a little cash, but first things first.

Here's the fastest way to put toys under the tree (and get the tree if you don't have one) for those kids is to get on www.freecycle.com. Set it using your yahoo email address and keep that messenger ON. You will get instant notification through your messenger on any new items that are available, and you can search their message board for 'toys' 'kids clothes' etc.

Also, check your local Craigslist Ads for 'free stuff' and search there.

Get what you can, wrap it up, and have a Christmas.

As far as making some quick cash, I have a load of articles on my plate and would be happy to throw some of the work your way. Shoot me a PM with your prices and I'll give you a 50% deposit directly to your paypal account. If you have a paypal debit card, your money will be available immediately. If not, you may have to wait a few days on a wire transfer.

Also, if you want to send me a copy of your product, I have a small list, but they're pretty responsive. I can promote it for you to them, you keep all the profits.

Finally, write 50 articles, 10 on 5 different topics. And sell them with Private Label Rights in a WSO. Limit the amount of people you will sell to give them the most value and sell each pack for $7.00 or $27.00 for all 50 articles. (here's some good topics, weight loss, foreclosure, home business opportunities, relationships, quitting smoking)

You are not a failure as a parent. I'm sure you're a good mother or you wouldn't be feeling so down No one is perfect and S**T happens to all of us. It's always darkest just before the dawn. You and your kids will be stronger for this experience. Keep the faith my friend. All will work out in the end.

    Warmest Holiday Wishes,
    Marcus

There is nothing stupid about trying. And when that doesn't work, you get up, dust yourself off, and try again, and again, again. Eventually, you will be a success. Believe in yourself, and don't give up.

Jacqueline, falling for a scam doesn't make you stupid - you just made a mistake that you will learn tons from and use that new knowledge to be more successful in the future.

Please don't beat yourself up. Instead resolve to make this the best Christmas your kids have ever had, and that has nothing to do with money. How about setting a challenge to make each other meaningful gifts. You've got several hours in which it can be done and it could be a fun contest to get everyone scrambling to meet the deadline.

I don't know how old your children are, but if they are too young to make their own gifts, you could make the gifts less tangible, like reciting 10 things you really love about each other, giving coupons for 10 hugs a month for the next year...these are just some quick ideas off the top of my head and maybe they sound corny -- but to kids they aren't corny, they love this stuff!

Other ideas - have a Christmas scavenger hunt at a local park or your backyard and gather neat things to make a family wreath with - pinecones, dried leaves, berries, etc.

Don't let this experience get you down Jacqueline, you've got a lot of good things you can focus on - so focus on them!

      Hi Jacqueline,

There is a vast difference between being a failure and having failed. A failure is someone who has given up and who has accepted that their situation is devastating. You haven't given up. It's the day before Christmas and you're still looking for solutions.

I'm guessing that if you don't find solutions you still won't give up. You'll work twice as hard during the next year to make next Christmas twice what it would have otherwise been. That's not a failure. That's a success!

Call your local agencies. Salvation Army, places like that and ask them if they know anyone who can donate at least one present per child. Depending on your children's ages you could make a special dish for them, write a story with them as the hero/heroine in the story, create happy coupons that they can redeem through the year...things like one whole day with mommy. There are all kinds of creative things you can offer them.

If they're old enough you could explain that although this Christmas won't have many gifts the rest of them will. Give them hope that you love them and that you'll be changing their future for the better through your new online business.

How can you guarantee them this will happen? Nobody can really make such a guarantee but kids tend to trust their parents. Also, if you want to succeed you have thousands of mentors here on the forum.

Last but not least, I'll offer you a Christmas present that you can use. I'll spend up to an hour a week for the next three months working with you on a one to one basis to teach you WHAT you need to do to succeed and HOW you can go about accomplishing it. I'll donate my time to you free of charge.

I'm very tough on my students so this won't be for a lazy person. Your budget doesn't matter. We can start with zero money and simply invest time to make the difference. You'll need to commit to doing work. I don't want any money from you and nothing you purchase will be paid to me in any way.

I'm offering to take you from the dismal place in which you find yourself, take your hand, and walk you through the maze of internet marketing. The question is... Do you really want to find a way out? If so, PM me and we'll get started as soon as possible.

Tim is awesome. I count him as a personal friend and he has taught me tons of stuff about online marketing. Take him up on this offer! I highly recommend it and you're getting a VERY special Xmas present.

I also agree with a post on this thread about commercialization of Christmas. Stuff isn't what makes xmas special...it's the surprise, joy, and happiness. Sure stuff is awesome but ask your kids hwat they got last year and I doubt they will remember everything...they will remember it was fun though...so make it fun and don't worry...this will be something you'll never forget and never allow to happen again!

Much love and best wishes for a happy holiday!

          Jacquelin -

I have two sons who are now grown and have sons of their own.

For years I've held onto guilt about a couple years when things were very rough for me and there were so many things I couldn't do for my sons, especially the younger one.

Staying in my younger son's home after Katrina - I had a big discussion with him about his childhood and we were laughing about things he'd done. I bought up the bad feelings I still had (guilt) for two or three things that had happened .

Guess what - he didn't remember them!!!! He really didn't remember. He remembered the fun times and the crazy times (we had jello fights - in the house) and times when we helped some people or got into dangerous (but exciting) situations - but he doesn't remember me ever letting him down.

So drop the guilt, girl - because your kids will let it go.

      Jacqueline,

Just because you're broke doesn't mean you can't have a special christmas with your children. I remember one christmas as a child my family was so broke we couldn't afford a tree. Mom decorated the rubber plant in the living room and told us that was our christmas tree. At the time I thought it was pretty lame, but to this day I remember that christmas because Mom taught me a valuable lesson. I don't remember what I got for christmas but I do remember the "spirit" of that one. It also provided a backdrop to help us appreciate future years which were more prosperous.

Good luck to you and I hope your christmas turns out to be a good one for you and your children.

        Hi Jaqueline,

Sorry to hear of your predicament. Does it help any to know you are not alone? Others have been through very similar hardships and bad experiences.

As someone already mentioned, Christmas has become far too commercialized - it's not all about presents. I was watching a movie the other day where children were going to Santa and asking for certain items. The parents were worried that they couldn't make their child's wishes come true. They couldn't stand the idea that their child would be disappointed.

Disappointment is all part of life, and children need to learn that too. If it means not getting your Christmas wish, so be it. I know that sounds harsh, but it's a fact that more people would do well to consider when they feel the desperate need to dish out thousands of dollars on toys.

In your particular case, here are a few things you can consider.

        1) many local communities have Christmas gift programs for children in need. You'd have to check your area to see who might be running one there. It might be the fire dept., food bank, Salvation Army or similar group. It's getting really late now, but you might still be able to get your name in to receive something.

        2) I'm assuming you do have some ready cash. Check out your local Dollar Store. If your children are very young, you can find all kinds of little gifts that don't cost an arm and a leg. At least it would give them something to open at Christmas.

        3) Find free things to do with your kids. Take them to a petting zoo or regular zoo, a kids museum, some sort of fun park - check out your community center. Are there any programs running there for free? They often run winter events and just might have something special on for Christmas. See if your local agricultural society is doing anything. They frequently offer sleigh rides during the Christmas season and other times during winter and other special occasions all year long. See if your library is offering any craft events for kids. Are there any mothers groups around? see if they're doing anything. There's so much you can do for free and that will be great fun for little ones.

        4) Your scam experience is perfect fodder for a report or ebook. Write about your experience... how you got taken in, what resulted, and what you learned from it so that others will not suffer the same fate. You might need to finish it after Christmas, but it will get you back on the right track afterwards, making money. Offer it on any of the forums, and I don't just mean the WF. Look for forums where they talk about scams, safety, shopping, parenting, crime, personal protection, etc.

Put your knowledge to use rather than letting it get you down. You will feel better when you're done writing about it.

        Hey Jacqueline,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're in such a difficult position especially so close to christmas.

I wrote a book on how to give more meaningful gifts for Christmas and the top 50 Christmas games you could play with your family members. Almost all of the gift ideas are very low-cost and of course you don't need any additional things to play the games. I'd be happy to give you a free copy of both books if you 'll send across your email id to me?

I hope this helps you. I'm sure your kids will understand if you explain things to them too. Someone once told me a problem isn't really a problem unless you think it is. Changing your perspective gives you more options and then it's not the crisis it originally appeared to be.

I wish you a really joyous Christmas!

    Jacqueline,

I think most everyone on line has fallen for one scam or another. No one is immune and it doesn't make you stupid.

You can curl up and feel bad, for sure. No one would blame you.

Or you can take the opportunity to learn from it and prosper.

I don't know how old your children are, and to be sure they may be a bit disappointed, but don't sell them short. After my divorce 15 years ago when my oldest were 5 and 3, we had a couple of very scant Christmases.

We made the best of it.

Try your local Church to see if they have anything to help you out with. Maybe a family member or friend. They're out there. You just need to look.

Chin up. This too shall pass.

    Merry Christmas.

Take a rest from trying to make money for present. Your children MIGHT disappointed because they didn't get what you promised, or might not. The feeling of mothers' love itself is the best present. This got to be expressed. Your burden and worse feels will hold you from doing this. This can be worse. I mean, if you keep like this, your children won't received both. Both the love and the material itself.

Even if you can get a "debt" from someone, that will not make your children happy.

There's not much time until Christmas, realize it and face it. Take a look around and see what can you give to them instead of promised ones. Any affordable things, poems you can make. If you can make something for your list. I believe you can do better for your children. Go get it, anything that can express you love to them. Then enjoy the whole day. You can make up what's missing. But that missing thing, don't let it ruin the whole day.

For your IM career. Watch this video by John Reese, to regain your spirit. Reese started with $107,642.31 debt buying too much "Hope" before 23yo.

    Jacqueline,

    Please Read This

You are truly suffering from 2 scams. The first is the social conditioning that tells you Christmas is about presents.

Put yourself in your child's shoes for a moment and try to tell me what present is warmer and more pleasing and more memorable than a mothers love?

YOUR CHRISTMAS PRESENT IS YOUR BEAUTIFUL SELF

Be beautiful and strong and joyous and loving for your children in the face of hardship and you will be an example for them if they ever face hardship, and what better gift is there than that?

You are a warrior. You are a proud spirit. Pull up the bootstraps and act like it If you absolutely need a physical present, what about making a yummie batch of cookies together? A pumpkin pie where you all make it together listening to Christmas music?

Joy is in your heart dear. Joy is the best gift you could ever give anyone else ever.

You are loved more than you know. The One has not lost track of you. Be Strong.

    Merry Christmas

What a mess you're in. I am so sorry. What is it the kids want for Christmas? If I lived in the States -- which I'm assuming is where you are located, I'd just buy your kids the presents. But I'm half way across the world from where you are and I can't figure out what to do from here. But well, I suppose it's the thought that counts.

You will come out of this. Trust me. And you will be older and wiser the other end of the tunnel.

Beating yourself up never solved anything.

You acted in what you thought was yours and your kids best interest, and it turned out you made some bad judgments. At least next time you'll know to be more cautious about what business opportunities you get involved in.

There were a few Christmases when I was a kid when my parents didn't have the cash to buy presents. It sucked at first, but I got over it. I don't think any less of them as people because of it.

Worst case scenario, when your kids go back to school after the break and everyone is trading stories about what they got for Christmas, your kids will have to tell them "We spent Christmas getting the biggest, happiest hugs ever and having super duper fun with Mommy!"

And of course the other kids will be jealous.

They are all nice and for some the whole point of the holiday, the biggest thing that I have to remind myself during this time of the year is why it is here and not to get caught up in the hype.

I don't know your heart or your faith, if you are a Christian, I would suggest sitting down with your Children tomorrow morning and reading through the Christmas story, that is THE gift we were all given and no trinket will compare.

I know children like getting toys and presents on Christmas but if that is not an option, give them something no one could afford or purchase or wrap, give them your all, your love, and your time.
You and you children are in my prayers, not that you will find a solution to gifts, although if that happens great, I will pray that the Lord wraps his loving arms around you, keeps you safe, healthy and full of life.

          God Bless and Merry Christmas
          Adrian

Jacqueline, I am truly sorry for what is happening. It is too late to make money right now and go buy some presents for your kids, but what I can do is offer you my report that I am currently writing. It is not complete but there is already enough info for you to make some guaranteed money. You will need to work, but at least it is guaranteed money, so if you PM me your email addy, I will send you the report.

          Jacqueline,

I am truly so sorry for your situation. About 4 years ago my wife and I had such a rough year. She got really sick and could not eat or go to work and I had to take care of her. So that meant that I could not go to work. So absolutely no money coming in and no food for the kids and no presents as well. We had to pay rent and we were $400 short on the rent.

The only thing that we had was each other and God. We prayed on a daily basis and just wished that there would be an end to the madness.

Well through all the prayers and healing we came out ok. My brother had sold his house six months before and the day rent was due he got a check in the mail for $400 and he sent us the money. My wife is fine now and we are doing great.

I hope that you can come through this with your head held high.

There is a quote that I love:

"The situations we find ourselves in are never as important as our response to them"

Take care and God bless you,

    Jeffery,

The first thing I thought about doing
was finding the nearest pawn shop...

But, I got nothing of value.

I use my laptop - and I get
    a wireless connection...but
it's old and missing a few buttons.

But do you know the pawn shop wouldn't
    take it?

They only other thing I had was a DVD
player and they would not take that
    either.

I had to laugh a little when I came out
out there. My stuffs too old to sell at
    the pawn shop!!

Well, I don't know if this is appropriate,
but, I'm a writer, and I'd be willing to
    write articles today for pay...anybody
    need anything...please PM ME!!

    Thanks for the encouragement....

you know you could make a killing writing articles, other people do this already? The usual rate is $12-$15 per article, if you would charge $10 or even $8-$9 per article people would LITERALLY run your house in.

Especially if you are a writer and deliver high quality work.

Scout the forums, like here, DP and blackhatworld...and get a little rep going on, offer your services cheap at the beginning if you're still new.

As someone said a few days ago...we were talking about how "ridiculous" it is to write an article for $3/per pop.
Then the comparison came up that an avg. retail worker or burger flipper in the states makes SEVEN bucks an hour...and you can grind out 4-5-10-X?? articles an hour and can make MUCH more than millions of burgerflippers and retail employees just by sitting at home and writing articles!

If you would charge $5..this would be unbelievable cheap...and say you write 10 an hour...makes $50 an hour and people would go gaga since $5/article is a STEAL!

there is a huge demand for articles!

    Hi Jacqueline,
so sorry to hear about what's happened to you. I'm not sure if this could help but I've a blog on christmas classics for children and I've some ebooks for sale there. If you do not mind giving your children ebooks for christmas, send me a pm and i can give you a link to a free download. I think you mentioned that you still have an old computer, so probably you have a printer as well. maybe you can print it out now, wrap it up after putting it in a simple file so it looks kind of like a book and place it under your christmas tree. Not sure if this will help make your kids a little happier?

    Hi Jacqueline,

I just want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I can relate to what you are going through. Especially with young kids,it is harder for them to understand.

I know this isn't much consolation to you, but you are not alone in going through these tough times. My kids and I are looking at a bleak Christmas tommorrow in terms of "presents" They are not getting what they want. Fortunately my parents and my sister mailed packages, that and some very small items from me are all they are getting.

I feel guilty too, because I made some bad choices in managing this months income, I tried to earn some, and spent some to do it and it didn't pan out the way I wanted.

I can relate to the pawn shop thing too. Right now, besides my computer, my most valuable possession is sitting at the pawn shop.

But I have learned something since the last bleak Christmas we had. A few years ago, we not only didn't have a tree or presents, we didn't have a car, or a dryer for our clothes, and we lived over a mile from the nearest bus stop. At that time my youngest was still at the stroller age, and it was a real tough road just getting food home from the grocery store.

So this year, when and if, (they probably will) the kids complain about what they didn't get, I plan on sitting down and talking to them about what we do have that we didn't use to have.

Last summer I spent over 600 dollars to have a partial fence installed, (the only part of our rental yard that wasn't fenced.) I added rental insurance and now my kids are able to have their trampoline up in our back yard, year round, and their nice big pool in the summer. This is a present they received months ago.

It is things like this, that they tend to take for granted and don't realize that the money doesn't grow on trees. They need to be reminded of lessons like this.

Like has been said, stop worrying, (worry doesn't do anyone any good) and do what you can do.

Leave the computer alone tommorrow, and give them what you have plenty of, you love and your time. Shower them with affection, play games with them, teach your daughter how to cook.

You could also take them to one of the community dinners that is offered on Christmas day, often they give the kids that come to those dinners gifts. Yeah, it's not the same as getting what they want, but like others have said, they will appreciate the future good times more because of it. It is just hard for you to have to see them through it.

My artificial tree is buried in the middle of a storage shed, that I couldn't get to because of a severe snow storm we have here now.

So rather than spend a bunch on a tree and new lights, I spent 5 bucks on one of those foldable "science project folders" and we drew a Christmas tree on it.

All of my kids, including my grown up son, worked on it together. They made ornaments out of constroction paper, and rolled up tin foil to make the garland. My oldest son used a screwdriver poked holes where the lights would go, and they placed a lamp behind it to make the lights show through.

I was so proud of them. It is adorable. My daughter (14) says we should use it every year, (its our green tree ) while my 12 year old son, whined, no I want a real tree next year. (normal kid fighting).

I will take a picture of it and post it here later, but I just want you to know that with the economy the way it is, lots of people are having a tougher time this holiday.

I have made some money writing articles, just in the past week, but I get so frustrated but it seems to go for essentials like food, so fast I can't get enough built up for anything else.

So please, stop worrying, enjoy TIME with them, it is really the most valuable gift you can give your children.

I'm not here to pull any punches so all I'll say is hopefully you'll make next Christmas double special. I'm sorry you're in this situation but there are people out their with NO home. Do you think they're worrying about presents? NO! In fact their bellies are probably aching so bad they have no time to worry.

Seriously, in my eyes you're lucky in so many ways at this time of year.

Life has delt me some terrible blows

    I've failed my children miserably.

I've created such a mess and now
my children will be so disappointed
    on Christmas.

I fell for a stupid, stupid scam.

    I lost it all...

    I panicked...but then I remembered

and you guys always give good advice
    and encouragement...

    What would you do?

    Jacqueline

Jacqueline, I'll tell you what a failure is. A failure is a man who walks out
on his wife and son one day before his 5th birthday.

You are not a failure. You made a mistake. We all made mistakes. Know
how many "scams" I was taken in by before I finally smartened up? I
don't talk much about that time in my life. Maybe I should. If people knew
all the crap I fell for, they'd realize that it can happen to anyone.

Keep the chin up. I know times are tough now, but they will get better.

In the meantime, I will keep you and your kids in my prayers.

    Jacqueline,

My heart goes out to you and your children, but please don't be too hard on yourself. You were doing what you thought was best at the time, and like all of us have done at some point, you made a mistake. So go easy on yourself.

Use this time to teach the kids about gratitude and patience. Hang in there...things will get better! Please let us know how things go.

So many Warriors here have been so wonderful (Marcus in particular) in offering you encouragement and options. I thank God for them.

I will offer you the two most valuable things that I have right now:

    1) I am a minister, so I will be praying for you. This is a learning experience for both you and your children, and it's the way you handle it that your children will remember, not the gifts or lack thereof.

    2) I just released an ebook that reveals a little known method for making honest, EASY money on Squidoo (http://www.squidooharvest.com). As a freelance writer, you are perfect for this. Your copy is on me this Christmas - just send me your email addy. That way, when the book hits ClickBank (that should happen on or a little before New Year's) you'll have a real, genuine book review to help you make more money as an affiliate.

I know what it's like to feel the way you do, but you have to know that it is the enemy and the spirit of depression trying to shipwreck your mind so that your children will be lost. Pick yourself up and dust yourself off, if not for your sake or for Christ's sake, for your children's sake!

    That's real talk!

    Be encouraged, sweetie :-)

Sorry to burst your little boubble guys.. but this looks like a classic holiday scammer case..
trying to squeese a few beers outta some generous(or rather foolish) members of
this forum.. and what a wonderful time to pick outer than Christmas?

It's kinda hard to imagine someone owning a laptop; yet having hard time
finding a present for his under 5 children.. afterall, kids at that age are still
    minimalists..

Fellow Warriors: I'm saddend to see that most of you forgot that this is the I-N-T-E-R-N-E-T!
THE place where most scammers like to lurk.
And it just happens to be that IM forums have the larger precantages of them scammers..

And if it just happens that this madness is for real.. you should know, J(or whoever you are), that bitching hasn't done anyone any good. ever.

And if you want money -- go work offline. People have done it for thousands of years.

Although I really REALLY doubt it that she's(he?) for real.. I mean.. WHAT scam did you fall
for exactly that it brought an active IMer down to the point of having hard time buying
Christmas presents for his underage kids?!

Other than "Click here to get $5,000,000 for just $100k" type of scam my mind is left blank..

      Jacqueline,

Although your pain is very real right now, please try your best to remember that there really is a light at the end of the tunnel. I know it sounds cliche, but you will pull through. just look at the amazing response from the folks on this forum. Friends are all around.

As for tomorrow - my 2 cents is to ignore the computer and shower your kids with the one thing you have - your love. Spend the whole day out of the house doing things that dont cost anything. I'm not sure where you are and what the weather is there, but I am sure there are both indoor and outdoor things you can do in your town. It really does not matter what they are - the important thing is to be with your kids. This is what they will remember for a lifetime.

My best memories of Christmas have nothing to do with any presents I got or didn't get. Everyone of them - from my earliest - is all about being with my family. I know this does not help much, but best wishes.

Be sure to hug and kiss your kids LOTS.

But lets leave all that alone and let J explain into what exactly "scam" did
you get into that costs you all your wealth?
          First off,

My site is for for weightloss with an
Alexa ranking of like 1,037,698, so if I
was some type of FABULOUS Internet
Marketing Scammer, I'd have a much
          better ranking!

I didn't ask anyone to go to my site and
          buy the ebook I'm selling.

And, by the way, I've gotten my customers
from word of mouth, not from the internet.

I'm promoting EFT and many of the people
I've worked with, I worked with for FREE.

My site talks about HOW EFT can help
people lose weight - not make money.

I don't have an affiliate program.

Nobody promotes my stuff for me.

I wrote that course because I
          use EFT, but sometimes, things
seem so bad, you don't feel as
          if anything will work.

Besides, the little traffic I do get comes
from the articles I wrote at
          EzineArticles.

And like many people I know,
          I don't have some huge
          savings to fall back on.

I'm the single mom of 2 kids
          that I'm raising by myself.

          All the household bills for
          the month are paid. We
          have groceries. Daycare
          is paid for.

But I got screwed out of
          next month and the extra
          I had for Christmas.

          I don't have any jobs
          waiting for me, but thanks
          to some great advice here,
I now know WHERE to look
          for work.

          I got scammed by paying
up front cash for a 3 bedroom
rental property to get me and the
children out of this 1 bedroom
          apartment we are living in.

I was so excited at getting a
"yes", I failed to do my own due
          diligence and got screwed.

          But that's on me...lesson learned.

You are attacking me like I came
to this site and asked for people
          to send me $100.

I did not do that. I just vented

And, all people have done is
          encouraged me, offered me
          extra work...that 's it.

          I live project to project,
just like a lot of people.

And the extra I did have
          is gone.

          I've gotten some good advice
here. Places to look for work
that I have never heard of.

          So for that I'm grateful,
          truly grateful.

          The people here have been
          nothing but kind to me.

          Nothing but kind.

          And despite how you feel,
          people will keep right on
          being kind and encouraging.

But you keep on visiting my
          site...maybe my Alexa Ranking
          will improve...

It's kinda funny that she's using IM techniques to play on your emotional strings..
That's what we -- Internet Marketers do afterall:
Play with our prospects' emotions using our writing and, quite
often, "shock words" to put our targets in a certain mood.. then diverting them

For the guy who thinks I'm a scammer...

I didn't ask for one dime. I just needed
    to vent.

    I've gotten nothing but encouragement
    from everyone who's posted.

Sometimes you just need to get something
off your chest - I certainly couldn't say what
I really felt to my children.

I only wanted to put it down, get it out of
my head. I thought if I wrote, I could get
    past it...

And because of the members here, I feel
    better.

I can look at my children without feeling
    ashamed.

I'm still working on feeling like a failure...
but peace will come with time.

So, you have a right to your opinion.

And, I respect that, we can agree to disagree...

I took a walk with the kids; I pulled out
monopoly for us to play; We baked some
cookies while I was offline; and the three
of us feel a lot better.

That was all I wanted...a way to feel
better, and that's exactly what I received
    here...love and compassion...

Jacqueline I don't know you from eve but i do know that life is full of ups and downs. A failure is a learning experience in your case it's a mistake because you haven't failed. Let your children know what happened and let them know you had them in mind when you were trying to do what you did but it did not turn out the way you planned be open and from the heart and I'am sure they will understand. Keep the faith and your head up I'am quite sure this time next year things will be different.

Okay, here's why it doesn't wash. She's been a member here since
September. Why wait until now to scam people?

And let's suppose this is a scam. She's offered to write articles for pay.
      She's willing to work.

If I was in dire straights, I'd do the same thing. I'd offer any service I
could to make a few bucks.

When you're fighting for your survival, you'll do anything.

Nothing this person has done so far has in any way taken advantage of
any person here, and if she does do some writing and makes a few bucks,
      I say power to her.

Somebody gets some articles they can use to improve their business and
      she makes some money.

      Oh yes, quite diabolical.

Please somebody put me out of my misery already.

Hanuka, I don't know what you are into, but I am a copywriter and I've been making MORE money since the economic downturn, not less. There are lots of IMs doing more to add quality content to their sites, especially in the financial sector. I can't say what's in this woman's heart or mind, but what I do know is that you are forming conclusions based on logic that is not rooted in factual information.

I do understand your skepticism, though, so I'm not going to attack you for that. We all have to follow our convictions. Today, mine said to offer some help without offering up cash. Yours, apparently, said something totally different. However, just like you're not an idiot for being wary of this, we're not idiots for wanting to do good, either.

Wanting to be a blessing to someone in need is only foolish when it's done for selfish reasons...

    Hi Jacqueline,

It might be a little late to get this by Christmas, but the quickest way for you to bring in some cash for presents is to offer services.

It should take you an hour or two to write 3 high quality articles as samples and you can charge $.02 - $.04 per word to write articles for members on the Warrior Forum.

Ask for the money up front (or 50%) and you'll have instant cash for presents.

Post your offer in the "Warriors for Hire" section or throw up a $20 WSO.

If you want money bad enough, there's my quickest solution for you.

    Best of luck,

    Scott

P.S. I've found that many of the most successful people in this world made their greatest strides when they were at rock bottom. This is a blessing in disguise...use your 'need' to fuel action.

The most special gift a child could have is a Mother who cares so deeply about her children. That's what I always say. I wish I could help you out, Jacqueline. What I would do is make Christmas fun and exciting anyway. Something they'll remember. For example if I had literally zero money I'd do something like buy everyone a notepad and we'd write down what we're grateful for and how we're going to help people this year. Or something like that. I bet there's some brilliant suggestions on line. That's one's not particularly good. I'd buy some games and we'd play them. You know things like that. I feel kind of silly posting this because it's Christmas day here but I hope it was a good Christmas for you. After typing this I noticed you don't seem to have a good reputation on here at the moment. Oh well. Hope it was helpful anyway.

I'm really sorry to hear of your experience. Unfortunately, scammers don't care about their victims, even if it's Christmas time. It's a good thing kids are resilient and will love you regardless whether you get them lots of gifts or not. It's also a good thing that purchasing gifts does not mean you're a good parent or not. You were attempting to create a better future for them, and some unscrupulous individual took advantage of you and your good intentions. That does not by any means diminish your parenting or your love and concern for your kids. You know your heart and how you feel about your kids. Don't allow someone else's selfishness guilt you out of enjoying this holiday with your kids.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion - but don't beat it (or each other) to death!

Christmas is ONE DAY - so day after tomorrow put yourself to work and as soon as you can spare some money, take the kids shopping for an "un-Christmas" day and get them a couple things they really wanted.

Make it a full day of fun and that memory will balance the disappointment they feel this week. I've talked to several parents in the past week who are upset that they can't provide a "normal" Christmas for their children this year. You aren't alone -and neither are your children.

Plan now to put a few dollars a week into an account or a jar so that you will have something for Christmas next year whether it's a good year or a bad one.

    Jacqueline,
Just looked your site over and actually think it could make some good sales for your product. Realize it is hard to think and work at a time like this but if I were you I'd start cranking out as many articles as possible and submit them everywhere in order to drive traffic back to your site in order to achieve sales.

One other thought to go along with your writing articles and selling them as a WSO might be the idea of selling PLR to your product. I knwo it stinks to let others have your own property but you could limit the sales to 10 and I'm sure you could put a decent price on the PLR rights - again, this is just an idea.

Additionally, as I looked over your profile I saw how you were using twitter in conjunction with your submitted ezinearticles and for whatever reason never noticed that marketing method by anyone else - Brillant!!!

One final note, Christmas doesn't have to necessarily happen for you and your family on 25 December. You could probably generate some income between now and next week which could be used to celebrate Christmas/New Years in an entirely new way.

    Respectfully,
    Tim

They won't remember it at all. I grew up "on the wrong side of the tracks" myself. There were some very lean times. For a while, my mother raised me on her own.

She used to break down every once in a while about this or that particular event that she was sorry for not having more money or sorry for not making other opportunities available.

What I remember about my childhood, though, is that I was loved .... VERY VERY loved. My mother and I are still close to this day. We talk several times a week and she will be here for Christmas.

It's just a day. Love your children and keep doing what you know to do.

I think everyone on this forum has taken a hit or twelve through the years. You still have the things that matter AND the ability to get it all back.

We do a lot of activities, parties and entertaining -- albeit toned down somewhat this year as we're feeling the crunch too. We mostly focus on the experience instead of stuff and it works out fine.

It's more about spending time with family and friends. We don't need more stuff, especially in Manhattan where we don't have big storage spaces available for all of the abandoned stuff. It works for us. We have a few gifts, but it's hardly an extravaganza of consumerism.

I think Kay is right. I doubt they'll remember this Christmas as disappointing; in fact I'll bet they remember how much fun you had together playing the games, baking the cookies and just being together. That's the real stuff of good childhood memories.

Best wishes to you and your family Jacqueline. We've got a brand new year staring us down, so let's make it a good one.

I'm a single mother also. It's hard, very hard, when all the responsibility falls on your shoulders. But at least you can take comfort in the tremendous outpouring of support from Warriors, and know that you are not alone.

Failure? Not an option, lady! I read your page. You have a gift, a marketable skill. Sure you made a mistake and fell for a scam. So what? That only proves that you're human. Don't try to be super-woman, either. Take it from someone who knows.

I see from your subsequent responses that you are feeling better, and because you are feeling better, the kids are better. I'm so happy for you! May you have a wonderful, magical holiday and joy, peace, and prosperity in 2009!

    Jacqueline,

My heart pours out to you. Remember, we all make mistakes. It's a part of life. This probably isn't the first and it won't be the last time you've made a mistake. There are thousands of people in America who are going through the same thing you are right now. It's during times like this when we need to put in perspective the most important things in life.

Talk to your kids. Explain to them what Christmas really means. It's all about giving... not receiving. This is an important time in their lives to understand the value of giving. Take them to a hospital where they can give the gift of joy to someone who's ill. Take them to a homeless shelter where they can take part in feeding those who have no home. There are a lot of ways you can take part in the act of giving.

Remember, there are much more important things in life than receiving gifts. Like the gift of love, family, safety, a home, and peace.

There were times in my life, as child, that I didn't get much, if anything for Christmas. I think one year my parents got me a doll house that was thrown away. I was soooo excited to receive that doll house. I played with it every day even though I didn't have any dolls to put in it.

So, girl... put your head up. Talk with your kids and encourage them to join you in celebrating this day of giving. It will be alright. And besides, you have a great support group here.

I should clarify - I don't necessarily think it's an a "scam". Jacquelyn could be a real person and this could be her real problem. I do think a lot of people have been trying to play on the heartstrings of members and I guess that bothers me a little bit. So when I saw someone with just a few of posts to her name write something like this, I grew a tad suspicious.

At best, this thread should be in the "Off Topic" forum because it's not about Internet marketing.

And for the record, some of the biggest scammers (just speaking about experience outside this thread) are pros at handling criticism calmly and coolly. After all, it's what keeps the scam going.

Anyway, to Jacqueline and her family - I hope you're having a wonderful day with your family. Presents or not, it can still be a Merry Christmas.

Good morning to everyone, and I appreciate
all the kinds words of encouragement that
      poured in on Christmas Eve.

But the truth is, I'm a regular person - Just
like you. Trying to take of my children the
best way I can. I only wanted to vent. Just
      get it off my chest.

I didn't join this forum to scam anybody. I
joined to learn. My post didn't ask anyone
      at anytime for any money.

And people have just been so kind. Other's
have stated they have been in similar situations
and after a while, I didn't feel like I was alone in
this - and I didn't feel quite so foolish.

People just spoke kindly to me and that was
worth more than any amount of money I could
      have ever received.

I gained the courage to tell my kids the truth.
I learned quickly that EVERYTHING happens for a reason.
I learned to stop placing monetary value on everything.
I learned my kids are a lot tougher than I thought.
I learned there are still good, decent, kind hearted people all over the world.
I learned I can get through anything.
I learned to step back and re-evaluate what I was doing and how I was doing things...I attracted this situation...I needed to take a long look at myself - and MAKE SOME CHANGES!

The kids and I went through their old toys and
we gave them to the Salvation Army this morning.

I let them stay up late on Christmas Eve. We baked
a cake together and I let them have it for breakfast
      on Christmas morning!

My daughter read to us on Christmas Eve...we went
out and looked at other peoples Christmas decorations
on Christmas night...I focused my undivided attention
on them...and they really needed that.

The situation humbled all 3 of us. And I now know
      that we needed that.

My focus now is change. Plain and simple. Work
smarter. Pay attention to what's going on around
me. To be patient. To Listen. To see the "good"
in any bad situation that comes my way.

So we, made it out okay. Thanks to all the prayers
and good wishes that went up for us. We found a
peace that was missing in our lives.

I needed to wake up and pay attention...and from
      this point forward...I will.

      Thank You...

yeah, obviously there's no way to know for sure, but the way the post is written strikes me as very manipulative and overly dramatic

also the guy with 1 post replying and implying that they sent help her way screams of 'shill' to me... i've seen these types of posts on forums before, and usually what happens is once a couple people get the ball rolling with the donations, many more people follow due to our human nature, so thats why a shill is effective.

just because someone doesnt come right out and ask for something doesnt mean they arent fishing for it. how many marketers give stuff away for free because they know it will get their prospects to buy?

honestly your hearts are in the right places, but i think you guys were a little hasty with hanuka... this may just be my opinion and that may just be his, but he brought up some good points

After reading all these thread posts, I think it is so sad that people can be so judgemental. (referring to the skeptics in this thread).

Like she said she wasn't asking for anything, she needed to vent. I have been there. The warrior forum was like my family that wasn't there on my laptop in the recovery waiting room last January when my daughter was having surgery on her broken leg.

They not only gave me love and support through their words, they offered their prayers and made me feel that I wasn't alone, even though physically I was going through the experience all my by myself.

Tonight of all nights, skeptics, just Shut UP!!! Let it rest. keep your doubts to yourself.

BTW you can have lots of websites, a huge list and still not be a great success. Everybody enters this with different skill levels, different backgrounds, different disabilities is their abilities, ( to stay focused, overcoming personal obstacles, and negative thought processes.)

I recently asked for help in how to approach a list I haven't sent an offer to in over a year. Is that stupid?

Maybe, but I have a confidence issue when it comes to sending out to my list. I also don't like to promote crap. I really need to believe in something, and when I get a negative response from a mailing it blows me away emotionally.

Tonight I dug up something that I did 6 years ago at Christmas. Jacqualines plight inspired me to do something with the resources and the knowledge I have learned over the years.

One BIG THING I have learned over all my attempts, mistakes and inconsistencies with my im adventure is you don't give up, and you don't beat yourself up over your mistakes.

You take what you did wrong learn from it and move on, and it deosn't matter how many times you have to do that, each time you move a little further.

I am glad to see you feeling more positive Jacqualine, and I was also glad you are into EMT. Go the the Abraham Hicks website, join their mailing list for quote of the day, it will help you keep more positive, it seems the messages that come, come just when you need them.

Keep spending time with your kids, and enjoying them. They are little for such a short time, give them all the time you can. It sounds like you heeded our advice here, and I hope the best for you in the days and weeks ahead,

    Laurie

I agree with Chris. And your kids (like many are saying) probably won't even remember it. Time with you is one of the best things you can give them. Maybe give them little homemade "coupon books" for fun stuff to do with you as presents. Coupons they can redeem whenever they want. They will remember time spent with Mom for much longer than they will remember any present they will ever get. Trust me.

  • I'd like to share two quick thoughts with you:

First - Everything happens for a reason. Not sure how spiritual you are, but God will put things in your path for a very specific reason, and it's ALWAYS going to be in your best favor.

Sounds pretty unrealistic, I know, but I can tell you from first hand experience, that something amazing is waiting for you on the other side of this "mess".

You are EXACTLY where you need to be right now - be still, look around, and figure out what the lesson is here for you to learn.

    * Maybe this happened to force you to reconnect with your old list because of that great product launch you'll be inspired to do next year

    * Could be so that you connect with someone new here on the forum that sparks a wonderful JV partnership or friendship

    * It could be to remind you what's REALLY important in life - not the money, not the toys that will be forgotten in 3 months, but your health, your children's health and the love you share.

    * Maybe, just maybe, God wants to remind you (or bring to your attention) that you can't do it without him.

Second, let me share a quote with you that I discovered two years ago that changed everything for me:

"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit."

The quote is from Napoleon Hill in the book "Think and Grow Rich". Required reading for anyone who truly wants to be successful, but that's another story...

Your situation is only temporary. DO NOT LET IT DEFINE YOU.

A successful mother gives their children pride, not present. Presents are forgotten - pride lasts a lifetime.

A successful mother gives love, not money. Money buys. Love conquers.

A successful mother feels shame, guilt, remorse, sorry and sometimes like giving up - but sticks around when she could walk away.

    Congratulations on your success.

On a related note - let this be a lesson to never invest anything in this business you're not willing to lose.

Maybe it's just because I'm not as good at it as you guys, but things always take longer to happen for me than I expect - which is why I make sure I have the contingencies covered.

I'm not dumping on the OP here. S/he made a mistake. These things happen. She needed to vent. I dig that.

I just thought I'd point out a lesson for any newbies who may be reading this thread.

Sure, nothing ventured, nothing gained - but be aware that you may lose as well. Not to say you shouldn't gamble - just make sure you are prepared for the consequences either way!

It is good to be suspicious, since scams abound in cyberspace. However, there is no need to directly attack someone without solid proof rather than speculation.

If someone is personally convinced another person is a scammer, then that person should avoid supporting their cause. That's their own, personal choice and one they are completely entitled to. Those who choose to help are doing so in good faith, and their intentions are not diminished even if it turns out that they were taken in.

I have no idea what the truth about this case may be, but in the end that's not really significant to me, personally. I shared my thoughts up-thread about her predicament, and I truly hope that everything works out for all involved.

    Gifts are not important.

      Merry Christmas!

Jaqueline, I hope you are having a good Christmas despite your situation.

I thought I'd just add another comment.

As a child, I was told repeatedly that I would not get anything much for Christmas because the money just wasn't there. Every year was the same, yet my parents always managed to give me "something". It was always an item I needed, like a sweater, socks, mittens - seldom toys. In fact, the only toys I remember were 2 regular sized dolls, a wee family of 3 (mom, dad, baby) rubber dolls, a doll house, a rocking horse and a 75 rpm record "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Clause / Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" which I still have. Later on, I got a slinky that I managed to break in the first few hours. Absolutely no idea how I did that. Those are the only gifts I remember from my childhood.

Despite the hardships growing up - never getting any of my Christmas or Birthday wishes filled, being reminded about the lack of money for gifts, and having to wear hand-me-downs from family friends, my sister and even my brother (I was the youngest), seldom getting anything store-bought. My mother made most of my clothes. Despite all that, I grew up feeling rich.

It's something I could never explain. I always had the feeling that we were rich. I'm still at a loss to explain it.

It might be because anything we did get were quality items - not cheap garbage that fell apart quickly. Instead of 5-6 gifts, we only received 1 from each parent. We learned to appreciate quality.

We were loved and protected. We were taught to be strong. We were taught to "move on", that there was no room for whining over wishes not fulfilled. We learned that we didn't always get what we want. (Unlike many of today's children.)

Through it all, I developed skills that help me to get through difficult times, even when there seems no way out. I learned how to be thrifty.

It still amazes me that I have this feeling of wealth even though I am far from it - living hand-to-mouth even today. Perhaps it's because my parents taught the value of knowledge and talents, and that you are never poor as long as you have the intelligence to use them to improve yourself and your situation.

In our childhood, far more emphasis was put on building your talents and being respectful of others, than on anything else... well, except cleanliness.

Perhaps that's where my sense of richness comes from.

Sorry, I don't have an ending for this story. Not even sure how it fits, except to say that some of the best Christmas "gifts" I got was in my Christmas stocking. That's where those 3 tiny rubber dolls came from, and I loved them to bits.

  • Jacqueline I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to you. Have you considered filing a lawsuit or pressing charges against the scamsters? I am not familiar with your circumstances and the scam, but I there are several agencies that could help recover your money. I would contact your district attorney's office and they would point you in the right direction if not pursue the scamsters themselves. Good luck!

Jacky, I am very sorry to hear about your situation. But please do us a favor and post the scam site up so that others will not fall for the same scam.

I know what it's like to get scammed. It completely sucks.

    Hello

Everyone has times in life when we face hardship. The true test of a person character is what you do at those times. It is easy to be happy and smile for your children when all other parts of your life are ticking along just right.

I see this as a good to to share love with your children, let them know that have love in your life is much more than some store purchased item.

I also see it as a learning lesson for yourself. I don't know what the scam was that you fell into, but I am sure that it holds a lesson that you will not forget.

We also had a "smaller" x-mas this year. As I am sure many people did with what is happening with the economy around the world.

But I give thanks for every moment that I am alive. That I have people in my life that I love and that they love me. I give thanks for all the opportunity that is available to me.

I am new on this forum, but it is already clear to me that this site has many people on it that are looking to improve upon what they are doing and how they are doing it.

    You can do this to.

Grab your children, hold them close, give them your love and let them know that being together is so very important.

    Be blessed.

At first read I the post the "scam" thought flew through my mind. This forum is wide open for any/all to dream/scheme/rant/rave or just have fun. No matter what you do some will disagree and slap you.

I took a quick peek at the OP previous posts and NOWHERE in ANY of them did I see anything that said she was building up to scam the Warriors.

For now I will take it for what it is.....right now she is turning here for a word of comfort as frustration builds over current situation. I want to reach out and give her an internet hug and a prayer for better days for her and her family.

If you feel that you are being scammed with a post as this maybe you should take a look at your next IM email you send to your list...does your sales pitch appear to be a scam? Has often been said that a skunk smells itself first!

Again...no scam apparent here to me so Merry Christmas and I will continue to give prayer and positive thoughts to you and your family.

Thank you for your warm words. Just a few
felt like I trying to scam the forum...but the
multitude just prayed for me and sent kind words
        to me.

The positive energy reached me and my kids and
I know, I can face whatever, whenever...

        Thank you...

          Jaqueline...

What an absolutely wonderful post you made just above me. It sends shivers.

It's so terrific to see that you came through this with such a fantastic attitude. Too bad some people had to put a damper on your post, but that's the way people are. We learn to live with them... or ignore them as we see fit.

You were feeling desperate and depressed - completely understandable. It's how some of us cope with and respond to bad experiences. Not everyone can burst through all obstacles feeling powerful and unaffected.

You showed that you can be creative and strong. We don't always have much control over our lives, although it sure would be nice. It's good to hear of the fun things you did with your children and that they will learn lessons from this, too. Good lessons that will enhance their personalities and strengthen their resolve later in life when they face their own problems. You are teaching them how to cope, that there are alternatives that can be just as terrific and fulfilling, if not moreso.

I wish you phenomenal success in 2009 and beyond!

          Best regards,

            Thanks Sylvia,

I think my kids see me differently now. Our
relationship has changed and I promise you,
they are being so nice to one another.

            I can't believe the change in them. I can't
            believe the change in me...

It's wonderful. Amazing how one situation
can change completely the way you look
            at things.

I too have fallen on hard times in todays current economy. I do understand the grief that comes with an approaching holiday that expectations have been altered by the constant bashing of todays media.

None the less it has lit a fire under my A$$ to increase my efforts in turning a negative situation into a positive energy. J I'll say a prayer for you and yours since thats all I have to offer.

Hanuka I understand your perception of the situation as well. The cloak of anonymity the Internet provides can heightens one suspicions. Though there is a way to get your point across with out finger pointing sarcasm and cynical mannerisms.

Opinions are like farts some stink some don't

Guys... scams are everywhere. Hanuka make a very good point to remind us. Maybe himself was a victim before. Hurts so bad. Just like Jacqueline. Just like me, when i start IM. I was stupid and fall to those traps. This one line from John Reese i can never forget, "The Only Way To Change Your Reality Is To Face Your Reality".

I'm glad to see you feels better Jacqueline, also how wonderful your family become. Let's rock 2009 together, Dear
