Vancouver certainly didn't take it very well.

I never understood getting that upset over a game. Especially one you just watch and do not play...

As a Vancouverite and a Canadian, I am embarrassed by the behavior of those poor-sport hooligans, who are not at all representative of the people of Vancouver, but of the non-recyclable garbage of Vancouver. The Boston Bruins won fair and square, playing a superior game and that goalie Tim Thomas...duh, winner!

I'm with ya on that one TB. I'm ashamed to admit I'm a Canadian right now. I must say, this does not represent the majority of Canadians at all.

I thought you said the crime wasn't that bad there - sure seems to be on the rise. Don't think I would want to raise kids there now.....that's just my personal opinion...then again, I don't have any to raise thank goodness.

It'll take some time for Canada's reputation for being polite and friendly to be restored.

I said that? Apart from Hells Angels nightclub shootings, Triad drive-by machine gunning at late-night restaurants, plus a long list of violent crimes by an assortment of other gangs (such as the upper middle class members of a gang called "United Nations" of all things) added to the usual desperation burglaries of drug addicts, sure Vancouver is a crime free city.

TB, I was reffering to a post you mad not to long ago about somebody screaming and being badly hurt/or killed across the way from you.

Toronto used to be a nice city also, but there is so much violence now. I think Vancouver is following in their footsteps unfortunately.

Times are changing and people are adapting to their new surroundings. I didn't grow up with that mentality so need to adjust my way of thinking I guess. Point being, places I would have loved to have moved to - you couldn't pay me to visit now.

That horrible screaming is still strong in my memory.

Vancouver and the province of British Columbia as a whole are great places to visit. Demanding crimelessness as necessary precondition to visit a place would cancel out huge swathes of planet earth for tourism, I'm afraid.

I personally met up with more violence in Ottawa Hull than in Vancouver.

(Maybe it is because I kind of look like a thug myself, I don't know.)

LOL TB, I totally appreciate where you are coming from! I guess we all get a bit territorial about our homeland/town/city.....province. Toronto is also promoted as a tourist destination. Quite frankly, you couldn't pay me to go there!!!

Bottom line, our whole society is changing, and not for the best it seems. We shall have to endure the changes as time permits.

I don't really think it matters where in Canada we live as it's a new generation moving in and growing up.

Years ago morals and values were instilled in us....we were born and raised with ethics. I think we are entering a new world were those values fall by the wayside.

This kind of episode we just saw blasted across the airways is just the beginning of a new age imo. Sure hope i'm wrong.

The Vancouverites give the term "sore losers" a new meaning. Remind me a bit of Mancunians.

I don't like 'city life' for that very reason. If I ever have to move there, I hope someone will shoot me.

Life is complicated enough without having to worry about outside/exterior forces. I am quite happy with the laid back lifestyle here. We don't even worry much about road rage in this area!
