Just post a pretty girl picture - hopefully with a little "reveal" - and see how fast some men here trip over themselves to answer.

Of course when the "girl" turns out to be a short, plump male in Malaysia...it gets funny.

Interesting post! I am new to this forum, but an active member in similar forums. Also a affiliate manager for several dating sites so this post obviously interested me ^_^

Online relationships are kinda strange in my eyes but it does exist and is popular. We came out with a website where you literally name "your price to date". Just google that phrase and visit the respected website.

Its an opportunity for you females out there or men to make some side cash by dating.

Thats interesting, how did you know that you were actually talking to a girl? Did you ever meet? I think you should see the real world man! Even if you shy, you'll learn how to not be over time, I did!

Would I date someone I initially "met" online? Yes, after meeting them in person, if we got on all right. What does it matter where you meet someone?

Would I consider it "dating" if it was all restricted to the 'net? Hell no. Not even a social retard like myself would go that far. And I don't do the whole cyber-sex thing. Weird.

Though frankly, I've never met a girl anywhere who I'd even consider taking on a real date. Like a dinner date, or something. Totally disinterested. Sex, yes. For actual "romance", I'm far more picky than many women, I think.

    Maybe I have unrealistic expectations.

I don't see anything wrong with dating online, provided you're actually communicating with who you think you're communicating with. Some dating sites do have some pretty stringent identity verification, but even then there wouldn't be a 100% guarantee.

I never did it online dating myself in my dating days. I never had a problem meeting girls live. I met my wife at a library, lol. She was was walking in the sunlight and looked like a goddess.

Would I date someone I met online? Sure - but the key word is "met". My main website is centered on what I enjoy doing most in this world - rock and gem hunting. I meet many people from my forum. (some are there because I met them, too). I've also met and become very good friends with Warriors. I don't see why if I met someone from online that I became romantically interested in I wouldn't date them.

I would never sign up for a dating site to "scout" for someone, though. I like to meet people under natural circumstances and if it goes somewhere, well, that's just normal progression. To meet someone specifically to date them would be kinda strange for me, so I wouldn't do it.

(In a Party of One: The Loners' ManifestoParty of One: The Loners' Manifesto , Anneli Rufus talks about how she views internet matchmaking as being godsend not just for the socially reserved / introverted but universally, for all sorts of reasons. Regardless of the still slightly "oddball" stigma attached to it. It's perfectly a-ok.)

What is so bad about being able to define and search for characteristics - physical appearances, personality traits, hobbies/interests, fetishes, you name it - that better the odds of you meeting someone who's just more right for you? Whether it be for friendship, a relationship or casual sex - doesn't matter. It can save a lot of time, can't it? Life is short. It might have "issues"; everything does.

"Cool peeps" will knock it - though the reality is that many are probably doing it in secret (why do highly extroverted individuals still enjoy spending so much time online, social networking? Some are secretly looking, hoping.) - but you only have to look at the endless ream of stupid, doomed/failed relationships many of the more active real-world seekers endure, and all the wasted time, effort and energy they've invested looking for "the right person/people" over the years only to eventually settle tiredly with people they actually don't gel all that well with, accepting the mediocre, simply to avoid growing old alone. Perhaps even having kids and then using them as an excuse to stay together, until they're eventually "too old for change".

It happens. There are a lot of bored, tired, confused and desperate people in the world. Online matchmaking might not be an absolute solution, and might occasionally be a disaster, but it's certainly another option. More and more people all the time seem to be finding out that it's damn good one, and one they're thankful for.

(I am, myself, talking about using the 'net for matchmaking purposes only, here, with a view to actually meeting those you connect up and gel with, eventually. I don't very well see the point of keeping things online - physical stuff is too enjoyable - though if people have their reasons for doing just that and they're happy with it, kudos to them.)

My ex-wife met her next three husbands online. (true)

Back in my Yahoo chat days we had several "relationships" begin in the chat room and progressed to the real world. There were the usual number of survivors and the usual number of casualties.

I don't think its a whole lot different than meeting anywhere else. "Back in the day" I used to meet young ladies in the darndest places. I never did the bar scene but I have met ladies in hmmmm, a car wash, emergency room, Halloween haunted house, stock car races, post office, convenience store, ferris wheel, traffic accident and Amtrak. Those are just the ones that come to mind.

    Whatever works!
