  • There is one big thing that disturbs me about the Chinese. I have lived and worked around the world and have met a lot of people from different countries on my travels. I have drank with Mexicans, Americans, Irish, Canadians, Germans, Russians etc., etc.... Just about every nationality imaginable.

    However, I have never, in my 38 years on this planet had the pleasure of sitting at a bar, downing pints and kicking the **** with a Chinese person.
    This disturbs me, I don't know why.

      Not sure about the eating habits in the former though. Seems to be if it moves it is okay to eat.

      Literally everything from insects on the ground to the birds in the sky seem to be caught and sold in the markets.

  • i have lived in China for several years, fascinating place.

    Too many positives, only a few negatives, none of which are insurmountable.

    To me, China is the most positive nation in the world, but that is just judged by living here.

  • There's a lot to admire about things Chinese, I think - porcelain, painting, lion dance, martial arts, etc... And of course, the food... you have to try frog meat or pig intestines one of these days.

    • We have a hunting season in NY for frogs gigging and pig intestines are called chitlins here. I've eaten both many times.

  • Chinese food is a meaningless generic term.

    China is a big country and the food here is regional, except for macdonalds, perish the thought

    On reflection, thought I would perish after eating there once in 2006

  • I love about chinese cuisine is their noodles, dumplings, chicken feet, tofu and their beef brisket!.
  • I have studied Martial arts, Chinese Kung Fu (Northern Praying Mantis Style, among others) for over 20 years and it has impacted my life in many ways. The strength of character that it can build is phenomenal. The philosophies that I use in my everyday life help me to succeed all the time. I owe a lot to China and Japan for these things.

    I interview Chinese and Japanese martial arts masters from all around the world on my podcast and the insights they offer are one of a kind, and completely unique. Many of them relate the ancient ethics of martial arts, and the warriors to todays "American Spirit" or entrepreneurial spirit. I was very excited when I recently found the "Warrior" Forum, for this reason.

    • I would agree with master Chien here. Some valuable lessons could and have been taken from Japanese and Chinese arts and cultures as applied to past and current world business strategies. It seems that with the proliferation of technology and social media, focus and direction could be more easily lost into distractions from hype, controversies, or the next big thing(s). Trends such as iPads, Twitter/Facebook, Google Panda, etc. help to potentially complicate (or even muddy) what people are doing now and what should be done in the future. The bombardment of new THINGS will only grow more complex. This is not to say NEW is bad, but too much too quickly also can be detrimental - with emphasis on the "mental". Sometimes, it doesn't hurt to go back to the old Asian masters (Miyamoto Musashi, Sun Tsu, Lao Tzu, etc.) for some back-to-basics perspectives and renewal.

  • I was going to say these, but it turns out they are Japanese. I still love them, though.
  • Chinese (and Japanese) traditions, medicine and martial arts... (I love India for the same reasons too)...
  • If it weren't for the disparity of wealth, disparity of trade, and the distrust they have for most others(as a country), it would be NICE!

    I like a number of chinese(Like jackie chan), and trying to be chinese(Like david carradine), actors, comedians, etc... They have, as a people, done a lot of good for society. The trade and politics always has to get in and mess things up. In THEIR case, the political problems are as much internal as they are external.
