Ah dude, don't let one bad seed ruin what you enjoy doing and did you try talking to paypal (yeah I know how they are, but just had to ask) so you could clear up the refund? Send him a money order if you can and that will change his opinion of you ... well maybe. But honestly don't let him get to you.

I've had this happen... maybe they didn't get it. Sometimes emails fail. Send it again, offer some free work to make up for it. When providing services it really is important to try and keep your customers happy.

Yeah don't let him bring you down, did you contact him via email and tell him why you haven't been able to give him the article or even better you can send the article to him via email. He should change his opinion about you real quick.

Run ins with customers do happen, I go above and beyond for my customers and I've still had one or two accuse me of being a scammer, etc etc. It happens. Please don't let this experience stop you from writing! A customer accusing you of something doesn't make it so.

My advice is to contact the customer and try and make it right. Show them that you can see things from their point of view and that it must be frustrating for them that they paid for an article and haven't received it. Give them the article as quickly as you can, either by writing it, or if you can't, pay someone to write it for you. If it was me *personally*, I would even throw in a second article free for the trouble.

I've treated complaining customers this way and they end up being the ones praising and raving about me the loudest! So you can turn this around.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why not just resend the article and apologize for it not getting to him the first time. Offer to write an extra one for free. Not sure if your post here is just to be sarcastic, but if you're being serious, you're clearly overreacting. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I couldn't agree more with you. It is always the customers that come across as being pedantic, that will the reward you with great reviews or quality feedback on completion of a good job.

I do however, find being called a scammer irritating and offensive...but it is often a word banded around by newbies, who have got scared because they have been told that everyone on the net is out to rip them off.

I suppose that if you look at that word being just an expression of their innate fear of being 'conned', the word loses its emotional charge.

I agree with the above posts...don't dig your heels in...do all that you can to make your customer happy...if that's on the form of a free article,or re-writes of existing articles...do it.

Don't see it as kissing arse, but see it as a way of helping the client to place trust in you...which will hopefully allow them to be more confident when ordering from people in the future

      Good luck matey

In the subject of this post you are positioning yourself in a negative light. Don't let anyone do that to you. And remember if you want to see yourself positively you need to talk to yourself positively!!

And ps - I get called that at least once a day. I'm over it. Crazy people can't get me down. I know what I am.

    whoa Sean! nice rant.

if you are a scammer then I'm a scammer too!

is valid point to not argue with your client, "if you say that I'm a scammer then whatever you say..." because I know I'm not and my other clients knows that I'm not a scammer.

For every problem there is usually a better solution than giving up. Get that article to the customer or send him a check as a refund and get another payment solution together. Seems a lot simpler than throwing in the towel.

I've had customers that are real jackasses and I've refunded customers who did get the product so that I no longer had to respond to their emails or talk to them or provide support. Life is too short for jackasses.

I think something is missing here also. Unless the customer is a complete nut there must have been some communication more than once. It seems there was at least one communication where he called you a scammer. I am sure you sent him his article and if he didn't recieve it you would have sent it again. I am sure if you sent your communications to paypal and you acted properly with the person they will put your account back to the way it was.
Also don't let one nut of a person get you down. Good luck.

That has not been my experience.

I contacted you to write some articles for me. I paid you. You delivered the articles when you said you would. I was happy with the articles. What more could you ask for?

If you are a scammer, then you must have started that after you and I did business together.

If he/she paid you and you didn't deliver or refund, why are you NOT a scammer in the eyes of the person that paid you?

A Paypal refund isn't the only way to pay someone back.

Sorry, but I don't understand your point. You got the customer's money and the customer got nothing and you're offended because he/she called you names? I tell you what, if it will make you feel better, send me some money and I won't do anything, then you can call me all the names you want. Deal?

Normally I would offer it, but Kurt already did, so I guess I will leave it at that.

Did you go in KNOWING your paypal was limited access? It is NOT a good idea to accept payment in a given way unless you can pay in that same manner. It is kind of a law in the US, and probably other places also.

If you are paid, via paypal, for instance, and refund via a check, paypal has no real proof that you paid back, and may refund the customer if they dispute it, etc....

If you simply credit their account on paypal, paypal will say "WHAT charge are you disputing? You have ALREADY been credited on THIS one.

Someone called me a scammer once - when he didn't get the right download link in the email. People have absolutely no patience or tolerance sometimes.

Talk nice. Show them that you are professional and courteous, despite their accusations.

Maybe the guy never received the article, if you sent it. Maybe he lost it. Send it again, with a note of apology that he did not receive it.

What I don't understand is, what do you mean you can't refund him because your PayPal account has limited access? Surely a refund could be squeezed out of it somehow.
