The Good Side of Cigarette Smoking

Be proud if you are a smoker! Be proud also if you’re a cigarette lover. Wave your hands and shout “I AM A SMOKER”.

Yes that’s right! Make it loud until you reach the top of your voice. It’s time to open the champagne and celebrate. It’s your day remember– the “smokers day”. I know you’re smiling now but that’s just nothing. Here’s what you should be happy about. This will make you very proud smoking cigarettes.

Great Benefits of Smoking Cigarettes

One of the best benefits of cigarette smoking is that you will have a lung cancer and the good news is that you’re lucky to be the chosen one. But if you do not have it now, don’t worry it will come to you soon. Be patient and you will receive a lung cancer for free!

Don’t be jealous of others, you’re lucky remember. You have more than 10 times to have cancer. That means your advantageous compared to others. If you want another one aside from lung cancer or both cancers at the same time you can choose:

· Acute myeloid leukemia
· Cancer of the cervix
· Bladder cancer
· Stomach cancer
· Cancer of the esophagus
· Cancer of the larynx (voice box)
· Kidney cancer
· Lung cancer
· Cancer of the pharynx (throat)
· Cancer of the oral cavity (mouth)
· Cancer of the uterus

If you want to treat yourself with a disease, that’s not a problem. In fact, you should be grateful with your cigarette. For the first time in your life my friend you will have a coronary heart disease – yeah! Or if you like you can have a peripheral vascular disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm. Imagine if you have these things, it’s just like you won a free trip to the hospital going to the cemetery. Amazing isn’t it!

If you like to suffer from stroke for the first or second time, there’s no need to worry much. Just relax! You can easily have it. You’re likely to have an improvement of 2 to 4 times from getting a cerebrovascular accident or a stroke. You will surely have a memorable experience once you suffer from it. Be sure to capture it with a video recorder so you can watch your amazing moment. If you want you can post it to youtube.com as the funniest video of all time.

Another best thing about smoking is that it makes you relax at the same time reducing every minute of your life – that’s cool! You’re relaxing while dying fast. For every cigarette stick you smoke, you lose 11 minutes of your life – amazing isn’t it! How about if you consistently smoke for 5 years – that would be more amazing! You will be surprised that your remaining life on earth is not that much anymore. For sure, you will see saint peter as soon as possible.

I know you will be happy when you read this. This is the best of the best. But before you will know it, control your excitement first. This will prove that smoking has also a good side aside from what all people say. The best thing about smoking cigarettes is that you will die early. Yes! Yes! Yes! You will die at an early age. This means you don’t have to expect good things from life anymore due to the fact that you will be dead sooner not later.

There’s no need for you to worry much from asking yourself “what will I be when I reach 50?” this is because you already know the answer. Cigarettes will tell you the answer and that is “you will be in a box under the ground” with words saying “in the smoking memory of”. This will happen before you reach your expected life!

Truly, there’s nothing better than cigarette smoking. You’re enjoying your life in a very short period of time.

    • I was going to get ready to blast you for your subject line as there is no good
side to smoking. Then I read your post.

Well done. I couldn't have said it better.

  • I wonder what the 60% of Americans with lung cancer who never smoked would say about it?
    • [3] replies
    • That doesn't tell the full story, does it Sal?

The question is at WHAT AGE does each group get it on average.

So, if smokers get it at 50, but others get it at 80...it's because the non-smokers live longer and therefore have a higher cumulative chance of getting something.

That being said, smoking is only ONE cause of lung cancer, but why not eliminate as many CONTROLABLE factors as you can? For example, quit smoking and test for radon (and respond accordingly).

As for the article...it makes a point, but it will only serve to make smokers mad. So I don't really see the point. If you want to encourage them to quit, then I think your approach will only strengthen their resolve in the opposite direction.

I used to smoke, so I see both sides to the issue.

      All the best,
      Michael

    • You DO realize, that at least in America, and probably all of europe, etc... It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to not take in cigarette smoke. I can't STAND the stuff. It makes me light headed, gives me a headache, my lungs end up stinking, etc.... I generally hold my breath if I am within 30 feet of a smoker. Sometimes I end up GASPING for air, like a fish out of water. In some areas there is an ordinance NOT to smoke within 500 feet of a building.

I was at a customer once that had SIGNS to that effect on its entrances. I was at a hotel that did NOT allow smokers AND had signs to that effect. Smokers may STILL be right next to the door!

I have tried for almost 50 years to avoid that garbage and don't know if I succeeded in ANY year. 20 years or so ago, it was FAR worse!

So if someone tells you they have lung cancer and "never smoked before" technically there is a nearly 100% chance that they are LYING!!!!!!!

      Steve
    • Much of this is junk science; there is no consistent cause and effect that anyone has determined even 90% accurate, implying that there must be multiple factors involved. Those "inconvenient truths" always get in the way a cut-and-dry narrative, don't they?

  • There is actually a positive and that is the intake of nicotine. It has been shown to prevent brain damage. They did studies of heroin addicts that took nicotine and those that didn't and the ones with the nicotine intake had markedly less brain damaging effects of the heroin. In addition, the main effect that will affect all of the people that smoke and I find interesting is that nicotine is a cognitive enhancer. That's right. It will enhance your cognition temporarily during and after absorption of the nicotine for a short amount of time. It's not permanent, so before you go and buy several cartons, remember that it does lead to lung cancer in some cases and heart disease and artery problems. But if you are smoking, take heed that you are just a bit more cognitive during the smoke. I guess that's why I always felt more comfortable having discussions while smoking.
  • There was a study that suggested that smoking does reduce a nations overall health costs since people dying early would, on average, reduce health expenditures associated with a long life.

    • To echo Sal, I have had two aunts die of cancer at young ages who were virtual Saints, and would never dream of a cigerette.

I think spreading fear is more harmful personally... fear and anxiety will kill you faster than smoking.

  • I don't think there is any positive side of cigarette smoking.
  • Dont worry, a few more nuclear power plant meltdowns and everybody will get a good chance at cancer.
  • While there isn't a positive health benefit to smoking the sad part about all this is that you can get cancer from a variety of other sources. Take for example junk food, we all remember the movie Super Size Me :s
  • If people want to smoke, let them smoke. We already have millions of people in prison b/c of possession of marijuana.

Cheeseburgers are bad for your health too. Drinking too many sugary drinks (soda) can lead to health problems. Not exercising daily is bad for you too. Sitting in front of computer all day trying to make money is bad for you.

I guess education is one thing as long you are not going around telling people what to do or what they can put in their bodies
    • [1] reply
    • This is too true. Honestly, we put way too much emphasis on the most trivial things. People blow everything to large proportions and then we have law suits happening, imprisonment, etc. Prisons are overcrowding due to silly laws that only create more problems... cigarette bans are almost getting to the point of making them illegal all together and this will just increase violence and also throw more people in jail or prison for such a silly reason.

I do not like people smoking around me, but thats the way life is sometimes. Not everything will be to your liking and it is such a waste of time to fight something to the point of trying to extinguish it from the world... cause we all know thats pretty much impossible.
  • smoke from fire side and than you never smoke again LOL

  • FIVE good sides of Cigarette Smoking?

    1. Smokers are 50% less likely to get Parkinson's Disease.

    2. People who have never smoked are 3 times more likely to get

    3. Tics, such as those suffered by people with Tourettes, are significantly reduced by nicotine.

    4. Nicotine improves the memory and attention. A huge benefit to Alzheimers sufferers.

    5. Smokers are less likely to suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and colorectal cancer.

    However...

The benefits come from nicotine (which is as about as harmful as caffeine). The harm, we are all familar with such as lung cancer, comes not from nicotine, nor from tabacco but from the inhalation of smoke. You could smoke dried broccolli and be in just as much danger.

Cigars and Pipes have no significant lung cancer risk (since they are not inhaled) but do present a oral cancer risk - although most oral cancers are caused by drinking alcohol.

Chewing tabaccos, dips, snus (wet snuff) present an oral cancer risk but the risk is less than 1/100th that of smoking (according to the British Medical Association).

Nasal snuff (finely powdered dry tobacco) has no known cancer risk and is reccomended by various Health Organisation (including BMA) as the safest form of tobacco use. In fact, users of nasal snuff who suffer from allergies such as hay fever often report a marked improvement as the snuff helps block the pollen.

E-Cigs are also a safe way of taking nicotine. As are nicotine patches and gums.

The target for reducing adult smokers is set at 20% of the adult population. The only country to achieve this is Sweden. They have a high percentage of e-cigarette and snus users.

    Conclusion

There are benefits to smoking tobacco, due to the positive effects of nicotine. However these are outweighed by the negative caused by inhaling smoke. Smokeless tobaccos offer the benefit of nicotine but without the cancer dangers of smoke inhalation.
  • Take a breath Steve, its easy to be so altruistic to your point that you lose credibility... We have been there before on another subject, and reading back through later you could see that the arguments werent even relevent, quotes were taken out of context... this evangelical tirading is offensive to people. People arent stupid, cigerettes "contribute" to cancer at some level... But they also arent so stupid to think that the 60% of cancer victoms, who dont smoke, caught it from smokers. You are going overboard with your enthusiasm and losing your effectiveness.

Do you want to help people or simply stand up for a pointless point, that the whole world is already educated about until you are blue in the face and everyone is worn out?

Not worth all the energy, sounds like you could do with a big fatty to me. JMO

Ps. Its what comes OUT of a mans mouth that condenms him, moreso than what goes in.

    • Are you talking to ME? I'm not out of breath. Big fatty!???? Hey, I have breathed in a LOT of smoke! My father, mother, supervisor at my first skilled job, accountant at my second one, were CHAIN SMOKERS! To say that the act of having the cigarette between your lips somehow tags YOU as the one is MORONIC! NOPE, it is everything ELSE that tags you! NOBODY cares if you have lead paint on your house. That doesn't make you more likely to get lead poisoning. If someone from the OTHER side of the planet comes over and eats paint chips from your house, THEY will get lead poisoning. It really is THAT simple! The ONLY thing that makes smokers more susceptible is that THEY intentionally expose themselves. But their KIDS don't have a choice.

  • Boooo for cigarettes. . The other day I over heard my auntie and mom talking about smoking. They started smoking in a very young age.. Which is bad right? anyhow!. My auntie have this shocking phrase. It's ok to smoke, cos it'll just kill you slowly. What????. What the hell is wrong with them. is it ok for them to die?.. oh well!. Different thoughts from different types of people.
  • I recall an anti-smoking ad once "One out of three people smoke, the other two choke", so stopping smoking will be saving us all something to ponder
  • Been a smoker for past 12 years( a minimum of 2 packs a day ) and I gave up smoking just 2 months back !

What I believe is all the Cravings stuff is BS. You can easily let it go after a while .

Instant Best outcomes I experienced !

    I breathe better !
I save a lot of time and cut down on redundant smoke talks.
    have better sex
    Food tastes better !
I'm more social with my non smoking friends.
I literally feel better texture of my skin and it breathes better !
Lips limping back to normal color
    Nice to have a change.
While thinking - My friend says I looked like a loser with a cigarette before, Now I'm a Thought leader
Hey ! I save a lot of money too.
    My family is more happy.
I focus better on my IM too

I care damn for lesser longevity - But friends I'm loving the immediate better quality of life.

Regret: when I Look back and I know I have lost enough opportunities !
    Not any more

    • Well, no doubt I am going to piss off a lot of people here but whatever.

If you want to smoke, fine...smoke. I have no problem with it.

What I have a problem with is you smoking around me and subjecting me to
that smoke. I don't want to inhale it.

IMO, we don't really need laws banning smoking except in public places
like airports, office buildings where people HAVE to work and the like.

If I'm in an office and working for a living I shouldn't have to breathe smoke
      when this is my livelihood.

However, I agree with the restaurant example. If I don't want to eat in a
restaurant that allows smoking, then I go somewhere else.

I think ultimately what would happen, if this were the case, is that
restaurant owners would see enough drop in business from non smokers
refusing to go there that they would voluntarily ban smoking or at the very
least have smoking and non smoking sections like some restaurants have.

Bottom line: I don't want to breathe your smoke and I shouldn't be forced
to. The other day, I walked away from a table because somebody started
smoking. I won't go into details here. Was I rude? Maybe. But I'll be damned
if I'm going to breathe your smoke.

So I guess this makes me one of those self righteous zealots.

      So be it.
    • It's mostly a conditioned reflex - like lighting up when you take a coffee break or after meals or sex - and no where near the physical torture "worse than kicking an heroin addiction." (Where the hell started that myth?) That's all psychological - the real torture is putting up with the stench in your drapes, carpet, cloth upholstery, and even your linens for weeks and months to come!

  • I hate it when someone smoking in public especially near to me
  • This is the epitome of sarcasm right here, and it really rubs in the face of smokers. Is this published somewhere where a lot of people can see it? Or did you make this up and are only sharing it with us?
  • I don't smoke and I made that choice for two reasons:
    • Inhaling smoke causes health problems I'm not prepared to take the risk of developing.
    • It's too damn expensive!
However, if someone else wants to smoke then it's up to them. If a restaurant wants to let customers smoke, then I wouldn't go in if the smoke was too bad. And if someone near me stinks, I'll move away if I can.

People who single out smoking but not other cancer causing luxuries are simple-minded and ought to be tolerated but it's difficult because they're usually so obnoxious.

I am always amazed when I discover an anti-smoker drinks alcohol!

Just one drink a day and you run the risk of:
    • Mouth cancer
    • Pharyngeal cancer (upper throat)
    • Oesophageal cancer (food pipe)
    • Laryngeal cancer (voice box)
    • Breast cancer
    • Bowel cancer
    • Liver cancer
    Just TWO beers a day:
    • increases the risk of mouth cancer by 3 times (200 per cent)
    • increases the risk of oesophageal cancer by 2 times (100 per cent)
    • increases the risk of breast cancer by 55 per cent
    • increases the risk of bowel cancer by 10-19 per cent
    To put this in perspective:

Two a day your risk of
Two a day your risk of

  • The great tobacco debate has been going on for years and this thread is just one of the many example. Cigarette smoking provides a number of surprising benefits to the health of tobacco smokers. The pharmacological benefits of tobacco are nothing new. Still, I feel from inside that smoking is not good at all.
  • I'm a non smoker and really scared of it due to its extreme bad effects on our health! One who smoke should be careful about non smokers for the adverse effect of passive smoking!

  • I didn't know that there is a good side about cigarette smoking. But when I read your post...I ended up thinking that there's still no good side about it.
  • A friend of mine which has a different logical reasoning ability once told me:

"If a person who smoke dies, and a non-smoker also dies, then he would rather choose to be a smoker. Why? For he could feel the good ecstasy effect of smoke and never regret than be dead without even trying."

Well, that is his opinion. Smoking is not bad. That is the reason that it is still sold in the market. But there is somehow a limitation for that. Excessive smoking is very bad as excessive drinking does. All we need is a moderation on all our actions. Perhaps one stick a day is still good.

New technologies has been developed to promote a healthy cigarette. I read about an electronic cigarette and I am not sure if it is as good as the real ones.

    Well i hate smoking.
  • I have a friend who smokes because she says she wants do die young and beautiful, not when she's old and wrinkled. So I guess smoking makes for a beautiful corpse after all.
  • There really is no point though to debate the pros or cons on smoking. Everyone knows its bad for you. You can not smoke and you know its bad, or those who do smoke know its bad.
  • cant stand being near smokers - should be banned, disgusting
  • People will often begin to smoke because of peer pressure. They want to be accepted into the group.
