Name all the girls names in Beatles songs.

I'll start off with a couple of obvious ones to get them out of the way.

Rita
Prudence

And let's not forget Sweet Loretta Martin; or was she just another man?

"Oh dirty Maggie Mae, they have taken her away, and she never walked down Lime Street anymore, Oh the judge he guilty found her..."

One of the shorter songs on Let It Be.

      Another name...

Martha (Popular myth says it was about his sheepdog, but McCartney has denounced this at least once).

Penny Lane is a street, but would make a good name.

Lizzy (though it's a cover song, they still recorded it)
      Sally (Same as above)
      Mary

      Rock on!
      Michael

Minor point and off topic, but Penny Lane is an area, (kind of a burrough) of London.

Minor point, but Penny Lane is also the name of a street that can be found IN Penny Lane.

How about we just have fun? After all, that's what rock and roll is all about, right?

          Rock on!

p.s. Good call on Rose and Valerie, good song, too!

I concurr. Fun is what it's all about.
It's just that I heard an interview with John Lennon where he said Penny Lane isn't a street, it's a place.

And now, back to the show...:p

          It's in Liverpool, not London.

There's a switch in that song.

        Molly and Desmond.
        Desmond was a man.

Right...Desmond "stays at home and does his pretty face" at the end, so I figured casual observers would think he was the opposite of Polythene Pam.

We sang that song in pantomime yonks ago and the way the director interpreted it was that Desmond had become a she (which fitted into the panto tradition) but they couldn't specifically allude to a sex change so as not to frighten the servants and the horses.

He knows that. What he was saying was that Angie Dickinson's character name was Sgt. Pepper Anderson....

Just as the movie Quantum of Solace had a character named Strawberry Fields. That's not the same as saying the song mentions the name Quantum of Solace.

I have often wondered about that song. Is it "bonnie" or "Bonnie"? In other words, is the protagonist just referring to his woman with a generic "bonnie" as a term of endearment, or as her actual name?

                Nice early reference, either way.

                All the best,

Good point. I always assumed it was her name.

Which leads me to the debatable one I mentioned earlier.

                  Georgia.

I believe it to be a womans' name.
Others say it's a state in Russia.
