  • I'd flame you for that, if I didn't like it so much
Loved the squirrel at the end.
  • Um - well, I'm not gonna flame you for it, but it does make me wonder what else you do when you're on youtube.

    • Another freak!!! Not alone mama!! Not alone!

To be honest I create some playlists and let if play, I really love music - any kind of music. But this one is an uncontrollable swing.
  • I used to teach dance, Fernando - ballroom and disco. As far as moving to it - it's got that going for it. I'll admit that.

    • Ah that's why I liked it.
It appealed to the kid in me (pesky little rascal).
  • Bad..and yet strangely catching.

    • Now thats a definition I agree with, at least the bold part ^^. This was a hit in UK some years ago, one wonder hit - yes, but the track has something amusing/funny/groovy I really love.

It's the kind of tracks most people hate, yet, it's so damn amusing they buy their records when no one is watching. :p

  • I remember when this came out on the radio. I actually like the song. Not love, but like for sure. It's catchy and I can listen to it. No burning necessary, except on the dance floor.

    • Funny... Never EVER heard this track in a Club - dj's hate it cause it sounds kidisshhhh. And you guys wouldn't want to see my poor dance skills. That would turn me into a banned member in a split second. lol

  • Mike, that one is still played in portuguese clubs in 80-90's parties. If a DJ misses that one, he is hanged. lol

Sumit, surfing bird is another classic!!! Do you know THIS versions?

    • This episode was shown here yesterday. This is where I heard it from. I've been trying to learn to sing the song right since the morning. But, I can't pick up on the papa-oomow part.

And don't you just love Stewie?

It doesn't have the same grittiness as the Trashmen remake, but it stands on its own merits.

As for the point made in the OP, I do my best to not cut down other forms of music, or other's taste in music. For example, a lot of people say things like "rap isn't music" or that "[INSERT NAME OF ARTIST] sicks!", but I always remember this paraphrased Bob Dylan lyric...

Music is a subjective thing, and what I like will be different from what you like.

Personally, I like most forms of rock and roll from the 1950s to today. Doo wop, British invasion, garage, protopunk, psychedelic, folk, classic rock, disco, punk, new wave, grunge, alternative and so on.

    It's all good.

    Rock on!

    Rock on!

  • Thom, thanks for that. Quite impressive the interaction between popular/traditional music and old school singing with a synthesizer/sampler. Funny how music goes around in circles and what was "out of date" soon picks up again with a mix of new tweaks and integration of new technologies. Personally I love it and the last minute of this track is awesome.

    • Lets just say, when I was playing it everyday we ended up with record rains and flooding. Coincidence:rolleyes:
I had many of those same thoughts when I first heard it.
I will admit I spend most of my time when watching the vid trying to figure out just what that split wood thing is and how to make one I've got three different ideas on it and am thinking of getting some bamboo to try them out.
