An Open Apology To Warrior Forum....

Hello - Chris Farrell here.

I have not been here in Warrior Forum for 2 years or so.

And there is good reason.

I was banned.

However - I have now been allowed back - and I'd like to apologize publicly to Warrior Forum.

The very quick backstory....

As some may know - I was brand new to this business in 2008.

I literally knew no one or nothing about it (other than I wanted to get involved).

I now have a 7 figure a year web business. It has however taken a LOT of work (as we all know) -- and I have made some mistakes along the way.

One - I made here in Warrior Forum - resulting in me being banned.

I'd like to - if I may - explain what happened - and apologize publicly.

Back in 2009 - I was learning as much as I could about this bizz (I still am)

And I would post here most days - asking questions and helping when I could.

However -- often I would want further clarification on questions that I had asked.

I remember one particular example -- I wanted to understand how to make an image a hyperlink.

I would get some answers -- but I always needed further clarification (yes maybe I'm a bit slow....)

The cold brutal truth is -- I just felt 'stupid' continuing to ask further questions as me - so I created two other Warrior Accounts.

I would then ask further questions -- if I wanted further help/illumination -- using one of my other accounts.

There was nothing Machiavellian or under-hand about this -- I simply was embarrassed to keep asking as 'me' for more help.

I also did post a few times - asking if others had heard of my website. This I am extremely embarrassed about now - 2 years on - and I wanted to apologize.

Can I add however I did not do this to bump up a thread or a WSO (in fact I have never had a WSO).

WF (understandably) then banned me for using multiple accounts.

Anyhow -- it was getting to the point that I was getting really embarrassed about this ban -- particularly as I am now working with many thought and industry leaders in this bizz (Alex Mandossian - Gary Vaynerchuck - T Harv Eker - Brain Tracy - Mike Filsaime...to name but a few).

So I asked the powers here at WF to reconsider -- and they have.

So - the lesson learned?

When using any third party service/site/application -- ALWAYS stick to their rules.

And always be honest - if you make a mistake - make immediate steps to rectify it. Most people are naturally forgiving if it really was an error.

Anyway - I wanted to apologize for this.

So - thank you to WF for having me back -- and if I can help anyone at anytime -- please do not hesitate to let me know. I really do mean that.

Kindest

Chris Farrell

    Take care

  • Hey Chris,

Welcome back. I wondered where you went. It's great to see you here again.

  • Why are you apologizing to us? It seems like a very simple misunderstanding...

    • Hi SocialMediaOwls!

No it really wasn't. It was only here at WF that I had 3 accounts.

And I only had 3 accounts here at WF for fear of seeming 'stupid' by continually asking for further explanations of questions back in 2009 (as I explained in my post at the top...)

Let me know if I can help you with anything....

  • Hey,

Another welcome back message from me even though I wasn't around when you were previously here it's still nice to have another IM 'God' on the forums!

However It's little strange how minutes after I first discovered your website and started to watch your free content on your website while wondering why I discovered you before now you pop-up here on the forums. Just like to say that the content on your website is very helpful for 'lowbobs' in IM and I'm currently deciding whether or not to become a member!

  • Chris, good to see you.

Maybe Paul or another mod can speak about this, but I didn't think multiple WF accounts was a 'bannable' offense unless it appeared the accounts were working together. Such as account #1 offering a testimonial for a WSO offered by account #2.

Because, Chris, what you say makes a lot of sense. There's been times I've asked myself - do "I" want to ask this?

  • Chris welcome back. Thanks for being so honest about what went down.
  • Welcome back Chris, I have been following you and would say whatever mistakes you have made to cause embarrassment, have been overshadowed by later success and help given to others.

I have always found it best to face the music and say " I am sorry " when I've done something wrong, it is always the best thing to do.

Wishing you continued growth and success.

  • Hey Chris. Welcome back. I've been very impressed with your work and the assistance you provide. Will certainly be looking forward to learning from you from your posts. Looking forward to your input.
  • So, you're back to ask how to hyperlink an image?

    Welcome back.
  • I'm glad that you're back and also that you made this post. I think quite a few people are afraid to post and sound stupid. I know that is the main reason that my account is so new and my post count is so low even though I've been hanging around WF for a couple years now. This post is also a bit of a lesson in making sure to be genuine because being sneaky in this business will come back to bite you even if you aren't really trying to hurt anyone.

    Welcome Back!

  • Totally understandable, even though it was a violation. I believe that you intended no harm, nor did it to give yourself testimonials, or anything like that; just trying to avoid the embarrassment of asking what might be seen as "dumb" questions-boy can I relate!

It is awesome to hear of your great success, and I'm glad they let you back in. Hope to get to know you this time-congrats on your success, and your "rehabilitation" as a WF member.

Edit: The above was my initial reaction based on believing Chris' story. Les' shocking revelations in post #49 which totally contradicted what I said originally, making me think I, and many others, were totally duped, and changed my mind about Chris. I have yet to see a single person who challenged Les' credibility, even among Chris' most enthusiastic defenders. To those who think I started out with a hostile attitude toward Chris, does the above sound to you like I'm a hater?

I know, the Warrior Forum doesn't accommodate very well for those of us with split personalities. On this forum I am only allowed one.
  • Congrats on the return from exile. Lot's of respect for the apology. It's nice to see some humility from someone doing so well online.
  • Hey mate - bit of a fan of yours. Im still amazed at how quickly you've turned your business into such high success. I started back in 2008 as well (October), and Im nowhere near 7 figures. Not even close....

It will be great having such an awesome mind around the forum.

Hope you make it habit to stop in and share your knowledge with us all.

You could have been honest in this thread Chris
and told the real reasons you were banned.

You were using multiple accounts to first ask if anyone
has heard of your membership site, then using other accounts
to give yourself glowing reports, which is known as shilling.

You also decided to use the forum as a place to send your affiliates
to post hundreds and hundreds of one line junk posts,
all with identical sig files that lead to your site.
They are still doing it to this day.

If people are going to start threads like this, I think it is only
fair that they tell the whole truth, not just a small part of it.

      Seriously?

OP, I have 4 questions that I think would be beneficial, and, show more of the process of you obtaining success in this industry.

      1. What was your occupation prior to IM

      2. What was your initial investment to make IM a success

      3. How many hours are you working to keep your IM business up and running vs. the number of hours you put in initially.

      4. What method did you use to network/JV with the more , "well known" people in this industry. i.e, Did you just buy high end products? went to their seminars, etc?
    • Wow-that is a COMPLETELY different story, and assuming it's accurate, paints a far darker picture than the "apology" (not a real apology if he sugar coated his violation to make it appear a whole lot more innocent than it was).

I will be extremely interested to see if anyone challenges this, and particularly Chris' response-is this for real? If so, I need to edit my earlier post welcoming him back-this behavior he's accused of is absolutely outrageous, and makes me wonder why anyone would even consider letting such an offender back in.

Does anyone believe he was rehabilitated into an honest marketer? If so, his account of why he was banned ought to make them think twice; someone who lies in their apology for deceptive practices, has obviously not learned the lesson, and only proven himself more deceptive than originally thought.
    • I don't know enough about the other stuff to comment either way, but I can vouch that the stuff described above has been a royal PITA and created a lot of extra work for the mods, and continues to.
    • Ouch that's pretty bad stuff in my eyes.
    • [DELETED]
    • Wow. I was just talking about this in another thread, how people do that... It also wound up in OT, but I guess in all fairness its not directly about making money soo... I do think its important to be aware of how people do these things.

      Is this guy for real?
  • Maybe that apology should of gone to the owners and not members as there the one,s who you deceived more so than a member asking for help and with a question.

Hope you have learnt now Google is a great place for a ton of newbie questions
have you ever spoken about it publicly to your students as this is maybe another thing you could teach them........

I feel there is more to your open apology, Tell whats up your sleeve ??

Can I ask you Chris with your course!

have you got success stories out there as I have not heard of none yet!

you are into 7 figures you say ?? good for you and let me know if there is success stories cause it makes the money more justified if there is.
    • [5] replies
    • Am I crazy, or does it seem absolutely surreal that almost every post since the big bombshell above, calling Chris out for lying about why he was banned, shows a completely blase attitude about dishonesty; people are still welcoming him back, asking for advice, etc, as if nothing's changed?

What gives? Are we so anxious for success that we will ignore any wrongdoing in order to rub elbows with someone who says they earn 7 figures? A person who can't be trusted on anything else-so what makes you even take his word on how much he earns?
      • [1] reply
    • And always be honest - if anyone make a mistake - make immediate steps to rectify it. I am a newbie here and this is my first post. I will always be honest for every mistake i will make.

  • Guess what Greg G - people don't read the threads.

Their only interest is to post something - anything - anywhere.

I call them drive-by posters' - sorta like graffiti -

Sometimes they just bother to read the original post which is something at least.

Sometimes they don't even have a signature link we can say they are trying to get a back link for -

Then of course there are always the sacharin patronizers who see 'big wheels' - don't bother with the facts, just exploit any opportunity to gain favor.

As for your comments about lying in the apology - that IS pretty shocking - and pathetic.

... and sorta like foot in mouth disease.

I am so glad that Les Gibbons is blatantly honest! A true WARRIOR!

    • I kinda figured that most either hadn't read the post, or ignored it because their overwhelming drive was to get close to a 7 figure guy, but sheesh-it gets absurd-especially the ones that did read it and went right on with the friendly questions.

Edited bit: [I don't know what happened, but a few minutes ago, I couldn't for the life of me find the big bombshell of a post where Chris was called to account for lying about why he was banned-I left and came back, and it's here now-I have no idea why it was missing for me before.]
    • Greg

What gives! the guy comes here to say have made a mistake long time ago and you get on your high horse and bag him out, I mean have you ever not made mistake yourself and then after a few years go to the place/people and say sorry!!

The only person this affects is Chris and he wants to help out , he made a big mistake came back said sorry Allen let him back done deal.

I have know Chris for over two years and he is the person who got me to where I am today in my online business , he is the master in how to do sales videos and how to run a membership site .

I am sure there are still members here who have done the same thing as what Chris did. I think people judge to quickly with out letting the person show what they will do for the forum

Hey if he does it again (not likely) then Roast him

  • Chris, Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to approach the WF admin and sort things out with them and then for coming on the forum and making a public apology. What might be a good next step in your penance is to create a WSO of how you reached 7 figs a year, teaching us all how to do the same... and make it available to us all for free. LOL.... Just kidding... but then again.....

Ooops, I didn't see this post the first time I made a comment myself. Certainly paints a different picture of what went down a couple of years back. There are always two sides to a story and I for one would like to have some moderator input on what actually took place. How can we verify what happened?
  • I know where you're coming from. To keep myself honest this time around the internet business, I incorporated the policy of putting my real face up on everything I do, except a recent Twitter account... but that's another story.

    I appreciate the honesty.

  • Welcome back Chris.
Wow, your story will surely give other people here in WF lessons that they should learn. And I would like to say Thank you to for sharing your story since we will learn from it. Thanks again and Keep going on a positive outlook.
  • Well, what can I say after reading this thread.. And yes, I did read it. I'm human and have mixed feelings here (and my own problems, so this doesn't affect me on a monumental level). Can really feel for both.

What was done was definitely wrong, horrible, deceiving, ruthless, careless, stupid, ??despicable??... I'm not going to hate this man, or blacklist him.

After all..... he has done some good, hasn't he? Others are saying so. I do get the feeling that he wants to help others and not just rake them over the coals.

They let him back in, didn't they? They must have thought this through, right?

I'd like to forgive, move on, weed out what doesn't serve me, and focus on the positive now.

Chris, I don't know you, but will only focus on your good side, lol

    Just my 2..

  • For those baseball fans in the States, this reminds me of the Jason Giambi "apology"...
  • I say beware of any apology that comes accompanied with a sig file link. Especially when it is also accompanied with a newly found "7 figure income". If op is sorry...who cares. If he isn't...who cares. But someone making 7 figures should know better than to return in this fashion.

If ye be truly sorry for being a scammer then prove thyself by your fruits not thy words.

Besides this entire thread doesn't even make sense. OP tells a half truth and then gives his sig file claiming he has a seven figure income and also voted the #1 IM'er?

I smell baloney in the air.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • I agree. A genuine apology shouldn't be used as a promotional opportunity - a point that Thomas B picked up on in post #15 (before Les posted the "behind the scenes" account).

And even if the OP's version of events were the whole truth, it hardly merits such a public mea culpa, IMO. A simple apology to the forum administrators would have been sufficient, if somewhat less dramatic.

Nevertheless, the powers that be have decided to let Chris return, so we should probably trust their judgment and welcome him back. Let's hope he justifies their faith by his actions henceforth.

      Frank
  • Thanks for the explanation and apology.

It can be humbling to accept that mistakes are made from time to time, and it's great to see that you've had the guts to come forward and apologize.

My honor awareness is usually pretty top notch, but it failed me this time around. I thought what Chris posted was an honest and real apology and I thanked him for that and welcomed him back. I've never followed Chris but I was aware of him and thought based on his post that he had done the honorable, "Man Up," thing, but I was mistaken and misled.

    • I can overlook the whole sending floods of people over here with crappy signatures thing, although I'm sure it was a major pain in the ass for the mods.

I cannot overlook the creating multiple accounts and generating false buzz about your own products though. That is about as unethical as you can get. That is not a simple mistake. That is a well thought out, deliberate ruse used to put money in your own pocket.

Maybe the product is awesome and some people would say the end justifies the means. I would never want to market myself that way though and would not trust anyone who is comfortable doing that.

I lurked here for a few years before I ever joined the forum. There was a time when I looked at the Warrior Forum as a great place to get honest opinions about products, programs, techniques, etc.

However, because of stuff like this, that time has long passed.
  • Zanti, Maybe not. The failure to mention , or possibly even remember, all the details of one's mistakes is a very common thing. Especially after a few years. That doesn't mean the person was trying to be deceptive.

I hadn't remembered them, but I don't have Les' vast storage capacity.

    Paul
    • [2] replies
    • Well Paul I don't know. You might be right and the details left out may have been an honest mistake. Or they could have been conveniently left out. We may never know.

I tend to take a man at his word and by nature, I'm rather trusting until I have reason not to be.

I'll just continue to observe and see where it takes me.

      Brian
    • With all due respect Paul, I'm kind of shocked that you'd call Chris' grossly dishonest self-promotion a "detail" he may have forgotten. I'm all for forgiveness-but I only forgive after full acknowledgement by the perpetrator, and strong evidence that he is genuinely remorseful, and would never do something similar. The forgetting is understandable on your part-you deal with thousands of members. But for the guy who did the dishonest deed-and was banned for years as a result; he has just one self to track, and surely he remembers such an event more accurately than the totally fake version he gave us.

The fake 3rd party question and review posts Chris made, I agree don't cross the line into "evil", but I think it's far more accurate to call it dishonest, unethical behavior, than a "detail" of a "mistake", which gives huge benefit of the doubt to a guy known to be dishonest. While what he did is not unforgivable, it seems far beyond a minor violation of some arcane forum rule, and more of a moral failing than a "mistake", certainly requiring a far more credible apology than Chris made here to convince me he's changed (and his silence since Les blew his cover story is telling).

  • Chris welcome back, I will follow you.
  • Getting kicked out of here might have been the key to your success Chris. The WF is lucky to have you back.

or you may have to stay after school -

Thanx for the gracious re-entry - looks like you were missed...
  • What a coincidence, I found a quote related to what happen to Chris a while ago,
    Anyway, welcome back !
  • Welcome back Chris!
  • To Chris' buddies: Ironically, if you take a look at my last post-that two of you quoted, and the date of it, it's pretty clear that I said my piece and had "let it go", but you insist on chiming in, defending him from meanies like me who believe honest marketing is important, and that facts matter. The only thing missing is a written invitation in the mail (don't even ask for my address).

You've all managed to studiously avoiding confronting the only fact that does matter in this discussion: whether Les was telling the truth when he put the lie to Chris' original "apology".

Before you make more comments about how I don't know Chris, how brilliant and successful he is, and how I am on a "high horse", let me remind you that I made perfectly clear that every critical comment I made was based on the belief that Les was telling the truth.

Is it a shock that a well respected senior mod, who, as you know, has thousands of posts under his belt and is intimately familiar with the events that led to Chris' ousting, is being believed over your missing buddy who for weeks has been too busy to take 5 minutes to speak for himself in his own thread?

You refuse to say it directly, but at the risk of belaboring the point: your defense of Chris is only legitimate if the liar is Les, rather than Chris. For me, what you're asking us all to believe is impossible.

Until you come up with a decent challenge to Les' credibility, all your defensive remarks ring hollow. I'm not holding my breath.

Pop ethics quiz question for Chris' defense team: If a certain behavior is common practice or is taught in books, does that make it ethical? (hint: think of common practices in recent US banking history, and books?-that one is just too easy).

    • I once worked for a very smart woman - back in the 90's - who used to say "Choose wisely the mountain you wish to die on".

To me, what that means is if you plan on getting on a "high horse" (or whatever you want to call it), to the point where you need to feel right at any cost, make sure it's for something that is actually worth it.

I never said Les was a liar. I do have a ton of respect for him as well. But the fact remains, the "criminal" who so sullied this holy forum - was punished and served his time. He was welcome back by the powers that be.

The fact that THAT doesn't seem to be good enough is what really evoked my "high horse" comment (which, by the way, was also a bit tongue-in-cheek).

My comments were not so much a "defense" of Chris, but rather a "what's the point of this anymore". It's quite obvious you feel strongly about this - and you are entitled to that. As I (and others) are entitled to disagree and say enough is enough - like the WF owner has ALREADY SAID (by allowing him to return).

What this is now is simply beating a dead horse and driving away yet ANOTHER grand source of information with all of the negative, holier-than-thou attitudes. I would much rather read some of Chris's knowledgeable posts then so many of the B.S. one-liners that offer no value that we get now. So, as you can see, my reasoning and "defense" is purely selfish - I can assure you

Hope that clears things a bit
  • Greg - I know Les isn't lying and neither is Paul. After all they have seen the brunt of these misguided instructions.

With that said it is possible that Chris 'forgot' all the details of the real reason he was banned -- and the bottom line is this - the forum has forgiven him for what he did and he must have his good points that warrant this.

As long as he doesn't start that practice up again - either the double identity responding to his own posts or telling people to deface the forum with their signature files - let's all just let it go now.

This 'High Horse' is Riding Out Now.

I for one realize that there is something inside me that needs a 'whipping boy' - there are plenty of things that happen to us day to day that we do not respond to in kind for whatever reason - we eat our emotions and they add up.

Lo and behold here is somebody who has done something wrong and it has been taken public - the perfect opportunity to let somebody 'have it' - for their own misdeeds as well as for all the ones who got away with whatever they have done or said to us and we just had to shine on.

I am going to work on that and figure out a different way to get up off of my own internal emotional and spiritual warfare because this is a weakness.

As long as there is repentance (stop doing whatever it is) then there should be forgiveness.

So let's all just agree to disagree and move on.

    GiddyUp.

    • Wow, that's a boatload of posts man! I don't always do subtlety too well. I like things to be explicit. So please tell me, are you as a mod, singling me out for a warning, that my particular opinion is unwelcome and I'd better shut up, or do you mean to simply literally suggest that we ALL let it go?

I have no wish to drag this out, but nor do I want to stifle myself, as I try hard to make my posts clear, logical, fair and fact based, and have real value, but I'd rather shut up if the consequences of expressing myself are getting in trouble with the forum I love.

Your self reflection is great, but I get the impression you want me to make a similar confession, but we don't know each other, and probably have different strengths and weaknesses. I hope you'll forgive me if I don't offer the same confession. I have my own problems to be sure, but this is not the time or place for me to feel comfortable exploring them-during an argument with people I don't know, and they are not relevant to the facts of this discussion. I do not feel that I'm looking for a whipping boy-I really did find Les' post shocking, and found the widespread minimization of it, and the arguing it without naming it, even more so.

Below are the original words I wrote, in case you agree with those who think I'm a hard hearted, unforgiving person. I think forgiveness is great, but way premature when someone has not even acknowledged what they really did-instead painting a much rosier picture. When I thought he was telling the truth, before Les explicitly called him on the dishonesty (not the forgetfulness-Les made no allowance for that and I totally agree-it's not at all believable you'd forget something like giving yourself fake testimonials-way too elaborate of a deception, and then getting kicked out of this forum for it would drive it further home-unless you had an issue like Alzheimer's or brain injury, which nobody is suggesting), my reaction was completely forgiving, as you can see from my first post in the thread:

"Totally understandable, even though it was a violation.

So since you're all about forgiveness, please forgive me if your suggestion for us all to let it go was really meant as a ban against me personally expressing myself in the thread-I'll edit this if you find it offensive-though I'm just trying to be honest-not whip anyone.
  • Welcome back Chris! ( :
Hope to learn a lot from you!
  • No no no Greg - you are misconstruing what I said totally (probably my fault)

I totally agreed with you on every point you made in this thread and thought I posted supporting posts to yours -

... and so I took ownership when you were accused of being 'high horse' - being of the same mindset in this regard.

So besides the fact that something totally unrelated happened that day of my last post (being some big IM mucky muck attacking another one and the resulting back pedaling and apologies) - that was when I realized how vicious I can be and felt guilty for what I said in this thread (even though I still believe what I believe about it).

So I attempted to apologize and rationalize my behavior - I addressed you directly as I was also trying to put an end to the argument that has developed which is now attacking you -

I am probably still not making much sense but hope you understand...

p.s. In the OT I am no more a Mod than anyone else - I am just another Warrior. This is funny. I had no idea people realize I am a Mod - now I know why so many people do not ever comment or interact with me when I make comments. sheesh - so this is not because I am boring. That's good news anyway. Thanks I think.

    • Patrician,We could be mistaken, though. Relying on memory is notoriously tricky. Les is much better at it than most people, but we all mix our emotional responses with the things that happened to create the memory. That can color things after a while.

As far as the template siege, Gaz' explanation is certainly a credible theory. One that has the advantage of coming from someone who's actually seen the product. Barring an equally credible rebuttal, I'm prepared to accept that as a working premise.

  • Its amazing to me, really, the pettiness some IMers are prone to. We fail to live and let live. This is a forum. True it has particular rules that, frankly, even I have run amiss with - and I am a learned man!

We have entrepreneurs by category and then entrepreneurs by nature. Chris has proven himself to be a natural. There are inherent differences between the natural entrepreneur and your run of the mill or garden variety. The natural impetus sees rules as mere challenges that need to be overcome. And to the degree that they are, manifests the degree to which the individual is able to overcome seemingly impossible hurdles.

Chris has shown the latter. It behooves WF to have winners as members. Because if not, then we are left with members who keep themselves busy languishing in the land of criticizing others and micro-analyzing other's intent.

I personally do not know Chris. I have only heard of him through my many journeys throughout the Internet. I was unaware of his former WF membership or status since. But I did and do like his entrepreneurial thinking and none of it should be denounced by any real entrepreneur - it should be praised!

What hypocrisy that we put down a success! Yet we promote wares intended for the success of others! This is the Warriors Forum - then welcome a warrior who has earned his place amongst the IM Winner's Circle! Mistakes WE ALL MAKE! And SELF PROMOTING SIGS WE ALL HAVE and have a right to (afterall - they be the rules of this forum)!
