$20 to post a thread?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I could not find a feedback forum. Also, I tried searching for this as well but couln't find an answer.

Anyways, I tried to create a thread at the Warriors for hire forum and I get a message saying my thread was awaiting moderation. I figured that this was because I am a new member. However, I get a pm from "admin" saying that my thread was approved but that I need to pay $20.

Now I saw a thread about this forum going back to paid but I didn't read anywhere about having to pay to create a service thread...

Honestly this is not very inviting for a newbie (to this site) like me because I can't even post here without paying? Other webmaster communities allow me to post service threads for free so I am a bit puzzled.

From my understanding, unless I pay, I can only take part in discussions and cannot offer my services to others?

If someone could shed some light here that would be great. Also, please be kind enough to tell me where one can post without buying a subscription.

I don't think you understand how much it costs or to maintain a website of this capacity. Also in addition if anyone and everyone were allowed to post in those sections then it wold defeat the purpose of the exclusiveness of the offers and we would just get bombarded with scams and other offers.

$20 is a great deal. You expect it to be free? Do you want to know the difference between a being a successful online marketer and a newbie? One group pays for advertisements and the other whines about it not being free. The good news is you get to choose for yourself what group you fall in. Wish you the best of luck with your endeavor either way.

It's actually a really great thing that it costs $20 or else it would just get overrun by crap all the time. There needs to be a flood gate.

Rewriter Available for Hire. PM for details.
Your Link Here. PM for details.
First thing - if you offer a good deal for your service, I guarantee you'll make back your $20. I have yet to see any writer NOT make money with a Warrior for Hire thread. If you need to get some testimonials to get the ball rolling, offer the first 5 articles for $1 or something little like that and ask those 5 people to post their feedback.

Second, I'd recommend that you do the above and put the link to that thread in your signature. However, if you want to wait to pay for a thread, at least put an email or Skype name. Your PM box is very limited without being an upgraded member and if I remember correctly, you can't use it at all until you've achieved a certain number of posts.

Third, you are not allowed to sell signature links here so I suggest you remove that immediately. If you are found to be selling your signature space, you could lose your account altogether.

As Tina said, you need to remove the link for sale offer.

Kurt maybe you missed this in his last post.
I wasn't going to bring up DP, but since it was mentioned, I would like to point out that I make a living off that site.
Seems to me if they're making a living off DP already, $20 is a small amount to pay to check the water here.
But then some people don't like to invest in their business but expect others to.

Acutally I offer services to make money. I am not looking for investors in my site. If you want my services you pay.

In my view I don't see a point in paying $20 to "test the waters"

And if you want to offer your services here you pay.
Again why would you expect people to pay for your services when you're here complaining about the forum wanting you to pay for its services?

Then don't. Honestly - with no posting history here and thus no reputation as yet, doubtful your ad would work well.

Right. Good reason - this forum is not a drive by for people to jump in and try to make money from members. You pay to advertise - not unreasonable.

It seems you have it worked out, as i guess the site owner and the people who peddle the wheels of motion around here think exactly like you.

Ah the irony. I want people to pay me for my services but I don't want to pay Allen Says the "admin" for his services of creating this forum with a very targeted audience.

I'm sure running a forum with 272,126 threads, 3,435,200 posts, and 333,246 members is cheap so how dare he charge.

I think you should offer your rewriting for free. How dare you charge for your services? It should be free.

    Especially when its only $20.
I know times are hard but almost anyone can come up with $20,and if your services are in demand you should recoup that investment many times over. But Thom didn't say you were looking for investors in your site, what he said is you aren't willing to invest $20 in your business why would you expect others to be willing to pay for your services?
Oh,and to compare this to DP is like comparing McDs to Ruth Chris.

I think Allen should charge 20 cents for every time someone posts anything.
It would sure put a stop to these morons posting for the sake of it,
and might result in something interesting to read.

Les, I like that idea more than I should. But it would never work. Can you imagine the 20 cent refund requests for every post that gets deleted?

      All the best,
