Is "The Cloud" a consiparcy by the Tri-Lateral Commission?

Just a quick summary for those of you who don't know...

The "Cloud" is a series of huge, (5 or 6 buildings) server complexes where
all internet content is being moved to.
For example, Windows Live is hosted on the Cloud.
Windows Live replaced all of the Windows media programs such as
Movie Maker and Media Player which used to be standard programs
included with Windows on all new pcs.
The last I read, there 4 - 6 of these complexes around the world.
1 in Mexico, 2 in the U.S. and, I believe, 2 or 3 in Europe.
And they're building more on an ongoing basis.

Now major corporations are moving all their IT info out of house and into the Cloud.
This includes banks and hospitals.

GPS tracking systems in cars so "they" can track you wherever you go.
Google Earth so "they" can see you wherever you are.

Thoughts anyone?

  • I forgot to mention the fact that we're moving to a cashless society.
    Debit cards and credit cards, ATMS,etc. are all being tracked in real time.

    • What confuses me about The Cloud is every internet expert I've heard talk has mentioned the lack of security inherent in Cloud technology at this time.

      Seems to me even physical security problems could be heightened by concentrating servers in a few, large physical plants - but maybe not.
  • "the cloud" IS a conspiracy! About 40 YEARS ago, someone implemented a neat idea. It was represented pictorally often as a CLOUD! Connections even often appeared as a kind of lightning. They nicknamed it the ETHER! Well, a lot of people were SCARED of it, and didn't really understand it. A guy in the 90s got it to be usabe in a way that looked up to its image. People forget the name ether, and those that where earlier scared of the concept never saw the clouds! Well, NOW, EVERYONE is in the clouds even if they don't know it. Along come all these companies, including APPLE even renaming OLD products to show they were ALWAYS in the clouds! It is a MARKETING PLOY!

    NOW, for the REST of the story!

    The ether was used by a product called the ETHERnet! Ethernet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The method that gt everyone in the clouds is called the INTERNET! And Apple, is now AGAIN advertising their netdrive tehcnology callng it cloud based.

    The idea is almost like data is water, and you can get rain whnever you want. The cloud shows that it isn't PHYSICALLY connected, but that it is all there. It really isn't ANYTHING new!

    And Kay is right. What they are trying to push is INHERENTLY less secure. It is all but impossible to prevent that problem.

    BTW I heard of "netbooks" a LONG time ago! I thought what a STUPID idea! Impractical, insecure, slow, STUPID! Well, GUESS WHAT! What they call netbooks today are FAR better than those gadgets. I actually got one. Not NEARLY as slow, and it is called a netbook ONLY because it CAN be networked, and it is probably too slow for a lot of complicated things. Still, I could do almost anything I want on it with NO network access.

  • "The Cloud" is not a "series of huge(5 or 6 buildings) server complexes". Sure, for one company it could be that thing, for another company it could be a couple cages of servers in a small portion of one data center.

    "The Cloud" is merely a marketing term for "clustered hosting". It allows your sites to scale due to the availability of resources. It has it's pro's and con's. Security, outages, disaster recovery, etc. are just parts of it.

    • I think the OP is referring to the idea that EVERYTHING will be centralized in one area, like they used to say netbooks would be for. The description of netbooks made them sound like fancy terminals that could do NOTHING on their own. I heard nothing about WHO would do it, etc... but the talk was definitely that ONE company would do it.

      BTW just to let everyone know, since entire ENTERPRISES miss the point! The ability to access data is WORTHLESS if there is no way to move data there. Moving the seed data to one location would be a MASSIVE undertaking! It could take a DECADE to approximate it. It could take YEARS to provision for it. It could take a century to allocate general resources! And then to MOVE it there? Could you imagine some companies trying to move petabytes while millions of others try to access it? FORGET IT! And the government would be able to see your most private things, etc.... BTW I said APPROXIMATE! You see, it could EASILY take a decade to put all that information together, but it would be obsolete within a second. Some stuff might shrink, but some stuff might grow a LOT. very second they waste means they could be off by TERABYTES, EASILY! IMAGINE! The WWW as we know it was been around for only maybe 18 years. And companies are STILL trying to move decades old information onto the web. Some companies spend ALL DAY moving their data to data warehouses. ALL DAY! A second more, and it could be off by almost a DAY! How would THEY get their data to a central location?

      And those computers would have to be VERY fast. Of course, it could take centuries to get enough connections that the world could even see things at the speed they can now. Is that even physically possible with today's technology? And don't forget that processing, storage, and bandwidth needs are increasing ALL THE TIME!

    Kinda like the adage of having your own domain v using blogspot, to keep the control of your data in your court. Many marketers were up in arms only recently about their own encounters with youtube.

    Edited to add: Maybe a similar phone call to a small hosting service would also have had Wikileaks deleted, who knows.

    • Give me a BREAK! I told you about something I saw over 30 years ago, It is not only true, and fits, but it fits EVEN with apples latest cloud product, or amazons, for THAT matter. This PREDATES the infowars deal and predates the WWW itself! It is simply MARKETING GARBAGE! BTW your excerpt? all THAT is right TOO, right down to the kill switch. It WAS put in a rather complete bill.

  • The 'cloud' is not that centralised at all. Maybe in 50 years time, but it's nowhere near to that. It's very much scattered all over the world and owned by many different companies with many different interests.

    Alex Jones uses more fear tactics to get his point across than anyone. Although I do think some of his statements are true, his delivery totally sucks. He's a sensationalist.
