For those of us who live in Scandinavia (Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark), such a terror bombing is a huge shock! I live in Norway myself, and something like this has never happened before.

Info till now:

Anders Behring Breivik (32) - a Norwegian self-employed, neu-nazi freemason has been pointed out as the killer, by VG.no. He made the bombs from the fertilizer he made with his business.

  • Several injured
  • Prime Minister, Jens Stoltenberg, is safe
  • UNCONFIRMED: one or more car bombs
  • Windows in stores kilometers away has been blown out
  • Oslo Central Station has been closed, as well as other public transportation
  • POLICE confirms that the explosion was a bomb - most likely
*UPDATE COMING*

It has been said that this is a revenge of Bin Laden's death.

  • Yeah, used to study in Torggata, just meters away.
  • Sorry to hear it.

    • Just heard that right now someone is shooting at kids at a youth camp on an island where your PM is.

People are swimming across the lake to get away.

      I hope things don't escalate.

    • There's also been a gun attack on a labour party childrens camp on an island in Norway. Reports say 560 children on the island and some have been injuried.
Police are saying they believe they are under attack.

  • WTF is going on in this world. If this is what "globalization" is all about they need to just knock it off. The whole planet seems to be going insane.

  • Norway police are now saying special forces have arrested one gunman on Utoya Island in norway (where the kids summer camp was).

  • Yes, it's actually reported over 700 teenagers at Utoya (Utøya) in Norway, and that a man dressed up in a police costume has shot at least 5 people - I'm unsure if they've survived or not, but I haven't heard anything about any murders.

I've been to Utoya myself once, when another party had a meeting there. We were 200 people camping there for a few days, and even I thought it was crowded back then. With 500 more people, it must be a nightmare. We only had 1 boat three times a day where we could ask for transportation. I absolutely hope more boats has been coming to help.

This is absolutely an historical day for Norway.
  • Norwegian TV reporting 7 kids killed in shooting on Utoya Island.

    Rich
  • Seriously? I haven't been able to watch TV, seems like NRK is over-crowded ?

I know people in AUF, the youth party on Utoya. This absolutely sucks. And with a new phone, I'm not able to reach them either. This is a catastrophe.

  • This is just horrible! I am sickened by this news.
  • From what I've heard, a police man wanted to talk to some of the teenagers on Utoya, and took them away from the rest. Then, witnesses said they heard shots being fired.

7 dead. Whether I know them, or not, this is absolutely unbelieveable.
  • Both you and me Andreas are affected by these actions of cowards.
Politics or no politics. When innocent people are killed it is crazy to assume that there is any "God" for anyone!

These actions are not supported by anyone with a sane mind and our thoughts go out to the ones affected as the young political party on Utøya ( Island).

There is nothing left to say then, hope they find and erase these violent acts with a manner that will not breed anymore violence for anyone.

To the ones affected: Our thoughts are with you in these dark times.
  • This is really bad news, sorry for the families losses. Wish we could all live in peace.
  • People has been/are swimming from Utoya and to the mainland. That's quite a long way to swim, actually. It must be horrifying to know that you're on the same island as a killer, and that there aren't enough boats, police or security staff to take care of you.

    • Sorry I didn't post about this in here earlier.

I feel with you my norwegian brothers and sisters.

As far as I can understand nothing have been confirmed by the police at utoya yet. Hopefully they only got hurt and not killed.

I hope everyone in Norway can get thru this though time with a terror attack
  • PAP: I wish that was true.

Sorry that I can't post live links (like gTranslate), but I don't have enough posts.

    • Seriously a massacre against defenseless kids.

Latest news is either Al Quaida or Libya is most likely behind this as they have uttered a direct threat against Norway because of our participation in the conflicts down in the middle east.

One can only wonder what makes killing innocent people justified as for our "breaking and entering" into their country if that is what they believe is happening.

I can only speak for myself here... But not all Norwegians feel we should participate in conflicts because of a agreement with either US or any other for that matter.

The threats we have gotten from Libya and Al Quaida is beyond revenge for what we know we have participated in.

There is difficult to find words for it when someones dressed as a police officer appoaches a political summer party for kids and starts executing one by one. Did they do anything wrong?

      Of course not.

This is the most tragic day in the history of Norway.

      9/11 meets 22/7.

No one can see the logic in this.

I sincerely hope the responsible people will be stopped from doing these kind of actions forever again. This is a sick war.
  • Police have confirmed at least 9 killed at the Island one being severaly hurt that's why they put it like that.

So 16 have lost the life because of the terror actions so far. Hopefully it won't increase

    • Last and latest news is the shooter on Utøya is Norwegian.

Anything else regarding why and who is behind this other than the apprehended man is still to be investigated thurrowly.

Right now it is a quiet center of the capital where the dust has settled but people are staying inside in fear of more dramatic changes.

There is a lot of rumors and it is hard to say what is to be concidered as real threats or simply a rumor...

Following the news from BBC and other outside of Norway will give you a wrong picture as they are saying the wrong things regarding who is behind these actions.
A very moved Prime Minister has just left the latest press conferance and he was headed to the hospital.

Will not comment this further today.

      JUST IN!
Took the last look at the news now... Another bomb was planted on the Island... It did not go off, thank god. Awaiting more info from the Police.

    • I heard that the shooter on the island dressed as a cop told the children to gather in a building so he could tell them about the bombing that happened a couple hours earlier. Then when they were gathered around he started shooting at them. Supposedly the guy is a white guy, so who knows why he did this besides just being a sick m----------r.

  • Yes, the mayor of Oslo, Fabian Stang, said he wanted to stand infront of them to save them. This is as shocking as it could get. A friend of some friends of mine are missing, which is a "93-model", just a year younger than me.

So yeah, just think about it:

You're a teenager between 11 and 23-25, you're on an ("medium sized") island together with 700 other teenagers. A police man arrives with a van which was transported with the only boat available there, and he tells random kids he wanted to talk to them regarding the Oslo bombing. Then you hear shots being fired, and teenagers are killed right infront of you.

A girl has just been interviewed, and she told "us" that she was hiding under a large rock while the police man (murder) killed her friends right behind her.

The people hiding on Utoya told via FaceBook and similar social networks that they DID NOT want to be called, as they were hiding from the murderer.

    • Don't want to get political as it is banned in this forum but the biggest problem I see is that, just like in the UK, the gunman won't get what he deserves.

    • Let's say he WERE a NAZI. WHY would he pick THESE targets? Besides, apparently there ARE MANY far better ones in Norway. This is an EMPTY act. When I have heard of neo NAZIs acting up, it was very vocal.

And WHY did they even check if he was a freemason? Frankly, from what I can see, the official freemason position is probably legitimate. Just a bunch of people that get together in an international club, and at times have like a LARP, especially to promote or induct members.

ARE they associated with the knights templar? YES! They admit it! The knights templar is a special group, and I believe they HAVE to be catholic.

And one day a group of freemasons decided to group together and create another sub group called the shriners. They are best known for philanthropy and hospitals. And here is the KICKER! They allow almost anyone to join. Even blacks, jews, and women! The ONLY requirement is that you believe in and worship a higher being.

Yeah, I know, sounds kind of funny, but many are like that. I never got into dungeons and dragons, but a LOT of highschoolers/college people were in it in my day. BTW I told a woman at a church once what one person said about the freemasons(It was, and IS, a popular conspiracy theory). She said that her father was a freemason, a devout Christian, and he wouldn't be in such a thing.
And you don't have to be rich to be a freemason either.

That isn't something hitler would have approved of! How do I know? Well, his hatred of other races is well known. Less well known, but fact, was his distrust of religion, infiltration and corruption of it, and his being into paganism.

  • I read this was revenge for that Mohammed cartoon by a Danish guy that newspapers in Norway also published. Can't believe how much has come from that cartoon...

And he is part of a group helpers of worldwide jihad or something like that. Was he a Muslim convert?
  • Hello Valerie,

No, this wasn't related to the Mohammed cartoon as far as I've understood. The killer, an ethnical Norwegian 32-year old was a Christian Freemason with neu-nazi connections in Norway, as well as the owner of at least two guns with a hunter license.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Andreas, what was his motive?

This is a copy paste from Dailymail.co.uk

Unknown group called 'Helpers of the Global Jihad' said to have posted message saying this is reaction to publication of Muhammed cartoons

Of course any group could have "claimed responsibility"

  • Ok nevermind. Refreshed the article and it has been updated and now it says they think he acted alone and not with Islamic extremists.
  • Update: they are reporting at least 80 dead in the shooting alone. This must make it the worse mass shooting by a single person in history. I just can't imagine what the parents are going through.
  • I haven't read anything about his faith. I know we can't talk abt religion here so not getting into that but just saying from what I read on the news he hasn't been identified of belonging to any particular religious group. Anyone have a news link that says his faith? And still haven't read a motive. Maybe that hasn't been released yet?
  • This is shocking, Scandanavia has always seemed so distant and peaceful, no one would expect any of this nonsense to happen

  • He has now been sentenced to 21 years in jail, after paragraph §147A - Lovdata.no. Let's hope they find a way to punish him harder. He does NOT deserve jail in Norway, as some of them are nicer-looking than my own appartment.

    • That was a very fast sentence. Did he have to make a plea of guilty? He woulda got the death penalty here for sure. Wonder if he can get out early for good behavior.

    • They GLADLY celebrate their viking heritage. Who knows, they may even EAT the same. But they aren't how vikings were said to have been. Meaning that they aren't ones that forcibly take things, conquer, etc...

I hope they are at least TREATED harsher than they are in the US. Appearances at least can be deceiving.

BTW regarding the freemasons, etc... They should watch where they go. Heck, some have said that this planet should be run by wmen because men are too hostile. The truth is that women can be hostile too. I'm not saying anything against those countries that are run by women. Heck, Angela Merkel has had/has hard decisions to make, and seems to be doing fine, and is apparently well respected. And she is one of several. I am simply saying it is unfair to say HEY, this guy is male, they're EVIL! Freemasons seems to be maybe the same sort of thing. The movies and game certainly are.
