my first domain: (firstdomain.com)
my second domain: (myseconddomain).(myfirstdomain).com

Did I not set this up correctly or is this how it is supposed to look? Is there a reason?

    You set it up as a sub domain, or 3rd level domain. Some hosts, and some accounts, DON'T allow a 2nd 2nd level domain. ask your webhost, if what I said here doesn't make the panel choices clear.

    BTW;

    4thlevel.3rdlevel.2ndlevel.com(AKA TLD or 1st level)

      I use hostgator. I thought I was just adding a domain, because I know there are two different areas: add on domain, and add a sub domain.

        Try add on domain. As I recall, THAT works. As I said, your example is of a SUBdomain.

    Everything already mentioned is correct.

    If you are trying to setup a new Wordpress blog via fantastico, you'll have two options in the dropdown box during setup, one is a sub-domain the other is an addon domain (hxxp://domain.com/).
