Does these new popups that prevent you...

I like to open up several webpages at the time in my browser.

Actually this may be and understatement.

In fact it may be over a hundred.

I get angry when it takes me 10 minutes to close all of the popups when I am shutting down my browser.

So, I close these websites and then unsubscribe from their email, never to re-subscribe. They just lost one potential future customer!

What is your reaction to these intrusive popups?

I react the SAME way! I also hate those that seem to INTENTIONALLY use bad english to confuse you as to the option to take, the ones that act like they are YOUR system, the ones that disable cut/paste. etc....

Can you not just close group or close all tabs at the same time. What browser are you using?

Doesn't matter what browser. It's the popup that you have to shut down on the individual website. Some take 4 or 5 clicks to shut it down.

Really stupid as it makes a lot of people angry.

It doesn't matter! Some pages are MODAL, so all else is IGNORED! AND, even if you COULD, it only affects THAT process(AKA WINDOW). So you would have to close each SEPARATELY! EVEN if you close to close ALL windows in the main tab, on windows, it does NOT close them! It ASKS them to close, and you are subject to the SAME problems I listed earlier.

AND, even if closing ALL windows works, what happens if I want one of those windows to stay open? Your question is almost like that norwegian killer saying "I didn't do anything wrong! They didn't HAVE to be there! Thy could have LEFT! They could have worn armor!"

What really torks me is when the popup refuses to let me off and then crashes my browser if I don't click to their page - I don't like being held captive anywhere. If that popup crashes my browser, their server hears about it. Some people claim that the popups work for them. I haven't heard anyone say they don't mind them, so I'm not sure how it works for them, but I won't do business with anyone who uses them.

I'm just happy that so many of my competitors are using them, believing that "they must work, otherwise everyone wouldn't be using them".

The people I know who have split-tested them properly, allowing for the subsequent traffic-loss from all the people who never return but otherwise would have done, i.e. tested by looking at long-term income rather than short-term traffic/opt-ins, have actually abandoned them. :p

To say nothing of some of the legal issues involved, which might one day be enforced ...
