Here's another one for you, though no precise date is given the timeline is a curious match. St Malachy gave a prophecy of 111 Popes from his time until "The End". The current one is the 111th.

The next one up is unnumbered and just called "Peter The Roman". He's a bad dude and will preside over the destruction of Rome - whether the City or the 'Church' is not clear. Rome gets destroyed and possibly the "World" (though don't assume that means the literal destruction of the Earth; earth and 'world' are not the same).

The current Pope is in his late 70's so can't see him being around much longer.

And something else is supposed to happen, some alignment with all the planets and milky way, oh I don't know, someone else knows. No one knows if that will have any effect cause it's never happened before. And Albert Einstein predicted a polar shift which would put Alaska on the equator.

Should I just be a beach bum and swim n ride the waves till we all get blown up or something in 2012?

I don't know what a magnetic field is or why we need one. But I'm going to sell all my possessions and head to the beach. And swim with the dolphins until we all get wiped out somehow 12-21-2012

A magnetic pole shift isn't a calamitous event. A geographical one is. During the reversal you don't lose the magnetism, you just get multiple poles. Even if it did go to zero temporarily, you still have an atmosphere that is the equivalent of 10 feet of cement. If there were problems with magnetism you'd see it at the N. Pole all of the time, but you don't - atmosphere stops it.

Now - the magnetic pole shift can help bring about a geographical shift eventually because the material spilled from volcanoes will start to line up with the magnetic poles - right now the magnetic N. pole is trucking toward Siberia at the rate of about 25 miles a year - that is very FAST. We are also getting Major snowfalls in the N. Hemisphere again at the same time a mantle plume is melting areas of the S. Pole. If matter becomes unbalanced enough as the plates respond to centrifugal force, we could be a tad screwed. LOL.

Anyhow - Val - the alignment - - the arm of the galaxy we are in (Milky Way) is going to lined up directly with the center of the galaxy, which means that all of the cosmic dust, winds, and energy currents will be blowing at us directly. Have you ever seen what happens when a whole bunch of dust hits a match? We can only imagine what a gust of dust might do if it blows to the sun. Whoopie! We don't know what the winds and energy will bring.

I wouldn't think that telescopes would be a part of Hopi prophecy. Never read that one but would like to see the whole thing - sometimes retelling can really absurdly contort the original, which seems to be happening quite a bit with the Mayan philosophy.

End of what, the catholic church? There is no way that this can be the end of the world according to Christain prophecy - We have to figure that either the earth is going to be around a whole lot longer and 111 isn't going to be the end (unless only of the church itself) or the Bible is wrong. Revelations not only has the tribulation timed at 7 years, but also Christ returns and there is a 1000 years of peace. "End days" and the "End", are two different things according to that faith.
I wanna see the original translations on the Mayan stuff. I believe they were talking about a rapture rather than the end of the world -- and that would line up with Christianity real well, just end of the world doesn't come close. Interesting questions and answers for us ahead eh?
