What in your opinion is worse, failing or never trying?

To fail, you must first try. From that you will learn significant lessons and can move forward. If you have never tried, you are one of life's losers without even lifting a finger.

Yes, in a sense it probably is. I think it was posted as a way to get a signature link. Someone is teaching others to post vapid, vacuous questions in forums so their posts will stick. Chances are the OP won't be back to this thread to read the answers.

There's always the possibility I've miscalculated, but we've been seeing quite a few of these kinds of questions recently, so I thought I'd use your question as an opportunity to point it out.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

Very astute and elementary, my dear Gaskill...these pointless conundrums are leading us astray from our investigation to succeed...in that respect he has won - and we have lost!

Never trying is worse in most instances. Unless the failing gets you killed or hurt badly or thrown in jail. However, I feel that what you're asking is something of the sort as opening your own business, asking the girl out, playing a sport, etc. Within normalcy, trying is always better than not trying, whether you fail or not. You never know if you don't try and that means win or lose. At least you gave it your best shot.

Never trying is extremely risky. It is much safer to take some chances.

If you don't try,you fail anyway...If you try - you might not fail!

(and you happen to fail, you can't call it a complete failure...at least you gave it a try!)

I think it was Yoda who said "there is no try - there is only do"

or maybe it was NIKE who said "just do it"

Life is all about risks, my friend. It's worse when don't try at all. If you try to do something, at least there is a possibility of success.

One more thing, failure is success in disguise.

I think you failed to complete the question!

Are we talking about trying to walk on the moon, or what? If so, I pick never trying, because I can't hold my breath that long, lol.

For me never trying, you should go for at-least once, it will surely help you to learn and will increase your knowledge.

I completely agree. I've lost hundreds of dollars in the IM niche and gained so much knowledge doing so. I've learned that the successful internet marketers make plans and get the right coaching from warriors who are already making money. That's what I did and now I am making money and following the right system. Obviously, none of this would have ever occurred if I didn't fail...

I'd prefer to fail than never try. If you try and fail, you can at least feel good that you've done your best. I wish I had that attitude back at school, I would have asked all the girls out lol

"Never Trying" is the opposite of "Failing". It takes failures to succeed. If you don't fail, you'll never succeed period.

Never trying, because you didn't do anything with it. Its like you're afraid to try something new and in the end you'll end up thinking what would happen if you have done that thing.

Here's an article I wrote about "failure" (It's not perfect but there is some good advice there ...)

Never trying is the worst thing you can ever do. Even if you try and fail for a while but keep going, you will succeed.

Those who never do anything are the ones that always bash programs and blame others for their failure.

Absolutely. Taking responsibility for your actions and results is an important part of being successful. (I think.)

Never trying is worse......when you don't try you will always say..."I should have" or well "I could have."
When you do fail, it always gratifying to comeback with a triumph.

      I disagree.

I can accept not accomplishing my goals. (I don't think it's likely but I can accept it.) However, I cannot accept not trying.

    Curious thought,
If someone creates a product on how to fail and no one ever buys the it,
couldn't that be considered a success?

    lol...

I have failed many times, discouraged by each time it happened and I am still scared to try.. but on the flip side I am not giving up until I succeed. That is because I KNOW I will accomplish my goals.. the question still is how and when? But I will never know if I were to quit trying.
