The common idea is that you have to eat muscle to have it, but that sort of ignores where the beef gets it from. What about the elephants?

Guess which side I'm on

Oh I'm vegetarian, too. But I get some of my vegies indirectly from hooved browsers.

Seriously - our teeth say we are omnivores. I don't listen to anyone but nature. I am not stupid enough to think we are smarter than Mom nature.

Cows, and probably elephants, are able to get a LOT more nutrition from what people would almost see as garbage. And they eat a LOT of it.

Vegetarian these days DOESN'T mean vegetarian! It generally means no animal meat, and even THEN sometimes allows FISH.

It usually ALLOWS milk, cheese, and often eggs. Those are three of the biggest sources of PROTEIN!!!!

An agile mind enjoyed that too.

But it goes beyond moving heavy stuff. Every time a friend wants to rotate his tires, you get all these requests, like "now lift that corner of the car off the ground, now that corner..."

I can see why people get bummed out about eating vegies.

I had read a couple of times that he was vegetarian, and really wondered why. Because he didn't like killing animals? ??? Guess I'll have to research that one too.

The strongest land animals are vegetarians.

      Rhinos, Bulls, Elephants, Gorillas.

Eat meat cause you want to eat meat, there's no proof you need meat to be strong .

Big muscles don't necessarily mean strong anyway.

Same myth about milk and bones.

Our intestines are like cows, natural meat eaters jaw strictly go up and down.

Do your research, if you care, and screw what the "professionals" say, they are professional at taking the big pharma, big agriculture money, paid sponsors.

A lot of strong animals ARE vegetarians. Nobody is disputing that. And certainly the primates are close in ways, but they DO eat a LOT. The strongest HUMANS tend to NOT be vegetarians. Some of the weakest humans ARE vegetarians. As for this german? As far as I am concerned, the jury is still out. Like I said, there are a LOT of vegetarians that are NOT really vegetarians. THAT is why they coined the word VEGAN! And YEAH, I KNOW one of the key words on that page is VEGAN, but everyone here must know how people settig up a page to be seen put there OWN words there to increase traffic. It USED to be that almost every page had the keyword SEX, simply because it was popular!

AND, if he is "REALLY vegetarian", what kind of supplements does he take? HECK, there was a time when the average bodybuilders MAIN diet, the part that made him REALLY strong was ALL vegetarian, except maybe liver pills, but THEY weren't ALWAYS used. Still, t was NOT vegan.

          Believe what you want.

There are many documented people who been on juice fast, water fast for 60 days, 90 days,120 days and longer and after the initial cleansing crisis is over, they have more energy than when they was a kid, feats of strength they never attained before, no sunken bones or shallow cheaks, glowing, and their mind is clear, perceiving higher brain function they have not known before, which is why to be a student of Pythagoras, you had to fast for 40 days before he let you in his school.

But ask your educated experts, they'll tell you thats impossible for someone to go without food that long and not suffer temporary or permanent health damage , when in fact, most health problems uncurable by specialist and experts world wide were cured during the fast.

          Believe who you will.

I am actually on the mailing list of two body builders. One tried SO hard to gain more strength, that he ended up in the hospital. I guess there are limits everywhere you turn.

ANOTHER desires to basically be VEGAN. But he DOES take protein concentrated from vegetable sources. In arnold's real hey day, whey apparently wasn't quite as popular, and they used SOY. It isn't NEARLY as good, but it works.

Hey man, eat what ever you want.

Don't let the "some animals eat other animals" be one of your points, because when times are hard , destitute, wolves eat the weakest wolf in the pack and some other animals do the same.

What happens when you feed a cow meat instead of what he is supposed to eat?

A hummingbird sucks nectar while an Eagle eats blood, but they are both birds.

Gorillas are some of the most peaceful , gentle animals when they are in their environment eating what they are supposed to eat, but lock them up and start feeding them meat, they will KILL each other over a bone, something that is unnatural and foreign to their nature.

That is why camels are in the desert and polar bears are in the arctic, and they have food corresponding with their biology.

Since this cosmic arrangement is there, man is not exempt from this cosmic arrangement.

The majority of creatures that are blood eaters are predatory by nature, they kill because they have to, they have no choice or say in the matter.

So what is in the mind of a man when he goes hunting with his rifle with a refrigerator full of food?

                  You call that natural?

All meat eaters are potential cannibals.

Healthy and long life means "what" to "who", who defines that?

Because doctors look worse and die faster than their patients, so much for their philosophy.

You say "we are what we are", but even the most intellectuals still do not know what we are.

How long? I would'nt worry about it.

Because when the chitterling eaters and tripe eaters start farting , the moment you smell it your lungs tissues will slowly decompose and evaporate into the ether.

What if we paid people to walk around with a hose attachment to collect that methane? We could say goodbye to oil imports... might be a bit uncomfortable but it's for a good cause.

Reminds me of an old article I read in Mother Earth News years ago.
They talked about putting fresh cow pies and grass clippings in plastic bags to collect the methane.
I did see on dirty jobs one time where this farmer powered his whole farm off the methane gas he collected from all the cow waste collected in his barns.
After he dried it out and collected the methane he turned the dried cow dung into landscape pots for plants. You could plant the whole container and as it decomposed it released nutrients to feed the plants.

What some people are missing is genetics as well, Pat is extremely genetically gifted. Just like a few people i know that can eat fast food, junk whatever they want no watching calories or what their eating, but still build muscle and stay absolutely ripped. But generally vegetarian type bodybuilders eat a ton of fish, eggs, peanut butter, soy products etc. But vegetarian has so many split offs, you have ones that won't touch any type of meat even fish, others that refuse to eat egg's etc.

Personally I'll stick with meat... ain't nothing like a good burger or steak seasoned and seared on a cast iron skillet then cooked to perfection. We had a family friend whose two daughters were vegans and against eating of any meat, I'll never forget the time I grabbed a lobster tail and filet and sat right next to them and started grubbing lol

I have two London's and a filet marinating in the fridge right now mmmmm

But really it's not uncommon for farmers to utilize as much as they possibly can on a farm. The farms around me when I was a kid rarely wasted anything. The dairy farm I grew up on (which was really the farm that surrounded my house) used and reused everything.

Simple trick to stay healthy is to eat moderately and exercise regularly.

It's so simple and sounds too good to be true,
but you will find out that only few people are doing it.

Not only are humans designed to be omnivorous by nature, but many scientists working in the fields of biology and evolutionary nutrition believe that it was eating meat - specifically cooked meat - that led to the sudden growth in human cognitive ability around 150,000 years ago.

The modern day human burns around 20-25 per cent of all available calories on running the brain. That's only possible because the energy required to run the human digestive system has been greatly reduced compared to the energy needs of similar animals (cooking food helps break down the nutrients, making them easier and more efficient for the body to absorb).

Cooking and Cognition: How Humans Got So Smart | LiveScience

If humans had always been vegetarian, it's doubtful we'd ever have developed our brains to their current level. Of course, the fact that so many of us choose to consume vast quantities of junk food suggests we still have some developing to do.

    Yeah, what Frank said..

The strongest human in history would be ripped to shreds by (a) Silverback Gorilla....who are vegetarians.

But that's ok... I have guns and thermonuclear warfare.

I dont think you need that much meat as we all think we do. Mind you that a lot of indian people dont eat meat, they are all veggies. There are also proteins in vegetables.

Well, at least from what I have seen HERE, probably 33% of indians are vegetarians, as is often meant here, 33% are like that, but only MOST of the time, and probably 33% aren't so strict. It IS true that a thoughtful manager here that hires indians WILL make sure that any event, where food is served, can support a vegetarian diet.

BTW, the same goes for hinduism. maybe 33% will say they really believe, another 33% will hold to the customs, and the ther 33% really won't.

Obviously, i haven't calculated precise values, but they probably are good estimates based on polls I have made, and discussions I have had,

HEY, indians are KNOWN for things like tandoori chicken, so you KNOW a number of them DO eat it! about 30% probably have at some time, and about another 30% really can. The rest WON'T!

And MOST that I have interviewed have a college degree and a decent command of the english language and made it over here to work, so it IS a certain subset of india and definitely not a good GENERAL sample.

Oh, and most vegetable sources of protein only have about 20% as much protien, and it is often not as complete or as digestable.

I think the soy and peanuts are off, but...

      100 grams chicken=30 protein
      100 grams avg cheese=28.1
      100 grams beef=24.6
      100grams rice =3.5
      100grams soy=34?
      100grams peanuts=23.45?
      100grams white beans=8.7
      100grams tofu=17.21

If someone is eating a lot of soy, it better be fermented. It will knock the snot out of you if it isn't. Also soy and peanuts will have a hard time making you strong unless you have a hella iodine source in your diet - like...um...fish. Soy and peanuts both contain iodine blockers and will tank your thyroid if you're not careful.

Also - we have to remember that the meat that we're fed these days isn't the pure wholesome food it used to be. Today it's so loaded with crap that it barely resembles meat. Milk isn't the healthy stuff it was when it was raw either. If they'd go back to grass fed cows that are not given antibiotics and fed crap they aren't meant to eat, then they'd have whole meat and wouldn't have to use glue to make it stick together in the stores. Milk loses most of its nutrition being homogenized and pasteurized - then they stuff it full of chemicals and put milk flavoring in it to make it taste like milk again. Yum. I won't touch the stuff unless it's organic.

Chickens? Fed GMO grains and chemicals which both go into the egg. Range fed without chemicals is the only way to get nutrition from them or their eggs. Fish? Mercury and other pollutants........

It's not the food that is bad for us.......it's the crap that is put into it and into the animal's food that is killing us. We're not only omnivores - we're one of the only species on the planet that kills just cause we feel like it.
