Skype Group chat

I have several Skype group chats that I have joined, but a couple of them I am not interested in right now. But, the windows keep popping up when a message hits them.

Is there any way to suspend that from happening, on a temporary basis? Yes, I can delete my membership to them but I don't want to do that.

Thanks,

Jon

  • Sorry - but you have to "leave the chat" to get away from the annoying messages.

You can always join the chat again when you want to if you have the username for the chat.
  • Do you auto-rejoin or do they have to accept you first?

    • No, you don't have to leave chat. Just change your notification settings in the groups that you don't want popping up constantly.

Go to the top of the Skype window from within the group. Click on Conversation, then Notification Settings. You can change this to whatever you want but I just put my name in so that I only am alerted when someone says my name. You could also put in a keyword or something, if you want to.

You can also choose "do not notify me" if you don't want any notifications. You can easily change this at any time.

  • I don't have those options on my version of Skype -

where exactly do you see that Tina? - from inside the group chat -

Right now I am trying to go back to one to see if that is there - I have never seen anything like that.

Edit: I found it - in the Conversation menu!

    Thanks Tina.

Sorry for the bum stear Jon12345 - we are only as good as our own information?!!!

    • I had to learn how to do that pretty early on or I'd never get anything done at all. I belong to too many groups and if they popped up every message, it would be constant! LOL
  • @Tina, thanks so much for that!
